Hey man, just my 2cents. I have BE5 Legacy and had 2 really deep scratches in my headlight. I attacked the lens with 1500 grit dry and then wet paper. Then went 2000 grit dry then wet. They came up mint as (very, very, very light scratching still showing but ya gotta be really anal to notice) Then polished them with normal car polish. The lens' are polycarbonate so sanding will work for taking the fade off :-)
Hey Thanks for the advice
I wasnt as bad as deep scratches, I got the Autosol and it worked wonders, although With HID's the fade comes back every few months needs another go with the Autosol.

Pretty sure the parkers on JDM facelift are T20 4 wire.
the number plate is T10 not sure interior

Hi all
So I had a radiator leak coolant through engine bay all fixed but the under hood insulation material is soaked in it and gets smelly under heat. It\'s also looking pretty ratty.
Is it purely a sound thing?
Is there any 3rd party alternatives? Or should I just find a scrap yard?
Or just remove?
-
Ok
Got car back from repair.
Couldn\'t find the yellow and brown wire near the gear stick. I did however find a matching color wire at the drivers kick panel in the wiring loom heading to the back.
Used a vampire clip to connect head unit wire and it works great reverse now initiates the rear camera
Thanks for all the help Guys.

Manuals are great like that... for example where "remove the 2 bolts from the bellhousing" turns into 3 hours on your back under the car with 17 extensions and a swivel socket to get at them.
hahah so true
Might have to hold off on the camera install, top tank on radiator just cracked awesome...

The simplest way, if you\'re not confident with wiring diagrams and the such, is to tap into a reverse light power feed.
The trickier but tidier way is to either tap at the gearbox or on the cluster loom.
Happy to do the wiring from diagrams do you have any I can use ?. (edit i just googled found heaps
I have run a RCA cable to the back door through grommet to the camera and tapped into the reverse lights to power the camera on.
Would rather not pull panels off again to run a wire back from reverse lights. Ill try and locate this wire around the gear stick the colors give me a good idea now, there was quite a few coming off it for the sport shift.
Didnt realise it would be so hard to find as its in the Pioneer install manual "just tap into wire" make it sound easy ahah.
-
Awesome that sounds like an easier plan

Hey guys I\'m installing a Pioneer head unit with touch screen all installed great just want to wire the reverse sensor so it automatically switches when im in reverse
Anyone know what wire I tap into to tell my head unit that I\'m in reverse?
I have a legacy bh tip-tronic auto

hang on how do spacer make it better for the snow? whopping 6mm (total) aint gunna magically make it an ice weapon
No this was all for looks.
But I made a point to mention that it\'s a snow car to let people know what I use it for, so if these mods effected that purpose negatively I wouldn\'t bother.
-
So 8mm and 10mm almost three turns, 5mm should be at least 3 then?
-
Ok thanks for the input
3 twists that\'s plenty haha
I might jack the car up, put some temp washers behind see what 5mm and 15mm looks like and work out if its worth it.
-
hmmm...legal could be an issue.
Maybe i wont bother going down this route, thougt it was just a bolt on affair
-
Great yeah definitely want to do it sensible, with no guard rub
The 5mm spacers I see on trade me seems like they are just a washer style, anything over 5mm though has additional bolts etc..
something like this - trade me spacers

Hey all
So I have a 2003 E-tune BH, its currently stock height but on WRX 17" wheels powdercoated.
I want to give it a more aggressive stance, but its also a snow car (in season) that I want to be able to take up the mountain no issues.
So have been looking at options of hub-centric wheel spacers what are everyone\'s thoughts on these ? I dont want to go crazy 5/10/15mm ?
I will eventually lower it as well, although not slammed maybe just enough to look good but still not have to worry about holes.
here is the car as it stands

just as an aside, if you want to run a larger power to the rear hatch there is already one there that is powered on with the key, it is used to park the rear wiper quite large and rarely used I use them to wire a rear door lock buzzer in our minibus\'s ( COF requirement in non central locked minibus)
Great ill check this out. Maybe use this as power and reverse lights as trigger for relay.
-
-
Yep thats right...head unit to gear selector
The only wire to head unit from camera is a RCA video signal, the camera then has a positive and negative wire for power.
-
Sweet, Remote Power Wire. So you don\'t need the Relay etc.
Just a straight Power Feed from Battery to Camera.
With a Fuse near the Battery.
With the New Head Unit, you will want to run a new Power Feed from Battery also (fuse).
Yeah I think I will still need the relay or wire into reverse lights. The remote trigger just tells the head unit to change the screen to the reverse input, doesnt actually turn the camera on.
Why would I need to run a new wire from battery ? Cant I just use the existing AC to the current head unit ? (aftermarket)
-
The RCA wire would have to go through the Boot Hinge Tail Light Loom?
Your Power Feed, could run through a 12v Relay to the Camera.
Then use the Gearbox Reverse Switch as the Signal voltage to switch the Relay on/off.
Then your Camera wont drain Voltage/Amps from your Reverse Lights causing them to dim.
Awesome great idea RE: relay does mean running a longer wire all the way to the gear stick.
The head unit has a lead to the gearbox reverse switch to trigger the head unit which is handy

Hey all
Jut got a new head unit and has a reverse camera input.
Has anyone on here done a reverse camera install ? I want to mount above the number plate so trying to work out best way to get the RCA wire to the head unit.
Also a good a good route for it to be powered off the reverse lights...
Installing into a Gen 3 BH legacy. (2003)

in Legacy & Outback
Posted
Heading back to Oz for work and will be away a year. Car won't be driven will just be parked in a car port.
Anyone recommend a good all weather car cover for a wagon?
Any advice for long term storage? Should I unplug battery? Anything else?
