  1. Hi guys. Bought a new wrx. Vin plate labels it as a 98 sti type r. I was worried as motor didn appear sti. Is sti type r different. I've never heard of it. Plus Internet has to much unrelated stuff.
  2. Thanks timmah. Website classes it as a sti type r. Neva heard of it haha. Research time and il ask on club sub topic to.
  3. It is a 98 coupe. Also has orange sticker airflow. Thanks for link will try it tomorrow.
  4. I recently bought a new wrx. it was imported from japan not long ago. Advertised as sti however appears to have grey injectors and head is not painted red. It appears to be running vf turbo and happily runs at 18psi. Very confused?
  5. u Shoulda so mentioned you did all these things when i picked up those manley h beams. Good to know.
  6. Id definately say the chromies and white walls
  7. If the car is in good condition id spent the money and recondition the motor as those models are getting harder to come by
  8. its ok but seems bit dodgy to me. the gear box is def a issue and he has his versons an general info confused. what appeals to you about this paticular one as their is many other better condition sti`s on trademe,
  9. personally the single turbo set up i feel is better. why do you feel the need to go the a twin turbo?
  10. no worries, cheers mate, i have something to do in the mean time as u can see. a headache haha.but good fun
  11. evowrx is right, bit of playing around an the right ppl can make it fit. this is a big build tho and my boiling level will be tested.
  12. shame i cant do it like that, but tidy looking job tho. nice
  13. still got it will use it over the 98sti one I presume.
  14. Awsome, I figurd stock box would have to go. Cheers for the advice.
  15. Thanks to all the help from everyone on the CS site, especially those who have put input into my build i was doing. After all the advice I currently have a -v7sti semi closed block -98 sti motor(transfering all parts on the v7sti block) -550cc blue injectors(side feed) -manely h beam forged rods -wiseco forged pistons -twisted turbo set up -td06 25g turbo -front mount intercooler set up. Next question 1. is air filters: Stock air filter box with hks airfilter or mushroom pod. I would prefer to leave stock box with hks filter but would the front mount piping get in the way? 2.after market Engine springs? still necessary? 3.Would the 98 sti heads be ok for this build? Any advice would be greatly appreciated along with any further ideas or suggestions. Thanks team.
  16. nice turbo, wow. myt be saving abit for that one tho haha
  17. sweet so that would be good then, wat about the v7sti rods, would they be able to manage.
  18. there a v7 semi closed on trademe with the v7 rods?
  19. Briliant any other weak spots noticeable to you? apart from what has been mentioned. It seems i need : front mount pistons that you mentioned(brands) top feed blues valve springs. This combined with my earlier list of already have should work ok for descent whp
  20. read your thread man cheerz. wat forged pistons you recon?
  21. Ok sweet coz yea the motor i have is from a 1998 sti 2 door coupe. and thats the one im modding. Id say from what iv already spent , a v7 motor seems bit out of the picture, yet everyone states that haha. any paticular place for valve springs?
  22. No just steve from re sinclair said id need to think of better cooling options for next tune to push more whp. I really wanted to avoid front mount as i wanted to keep mystock body parts like front bumper. space behind it doesnt seem to flash
  23. Ok so it sounds front mount is going to have to the way. Pink injectors ? or bigger, any ideas? and as for the block, would the v7 fit in nicely with the rest of motor.
  24. Yea iv realised. I want to attempt to build a solid 350 to 400hp at wheels. I have: tdo6 25g turbo Twisted turbo setup 3inch straight through exhuast possum bourne link 500hp fuel pump stock top mount intercooler, So im tossing up on getting these: Cams, standard will be ok or upgrade. Injectors, keep yellow or go pink or bigger. After market B/E race bearings wiseco forged pistons, rods to suit. aftermarket top mount, water to air cooling system or what sort of intercooler that is not front mount.
