  1. cheers boon, got a crimp tool, what are the round crimps called that you stick the wire in each end and crimp each side, the ones with rubber on the outside.
  2. my soldering iron has bitten the dust and dont wanna buy a new one just for this job. do i need special tools for crimps? i have a wire stripping kit, which may have a crimp pliers in it.
  3. Thanks scoob. You mean on the passengers side inside the carpet in the centre console unit? What is the tidiest method to use to connect my sony HU wires to the loom wires? i was just going to leccy tape them, but that often comes apart over time.
  4. only the mrs listens to the radio unless its cricket or footy :-) thanks
  5. ill have to get under tomorrow with a torch to confirm. are coil overs worth more than normal springs and struts?
  6. Actually now I think about it the mech said they are mcpherson coil overs. Thats different to a standard strut right? All I can say is the car handles amazing, but we want the height.
  7. Sounds pretty easy then, Im fairly mechanical but more so with motorbikes. Thanks all :-)
  8. thanks guys, got all that fear except a torque wrench and jack stands, which i think i can hire. i was thinking a metal pipe instead of the breaker bar, but the breaker bar will work better. i guess ill need a service manual too? ill leave the beer for when ive finished haha much appreciated.
  9. thats what i had thought scooby, thanks for getting me back on track. i now realise what the guy meant was 2 iso looms. as for the aerial, i think you are right. im not sure how im going to get one long enough for the new radio, i guess make one up, that plugs into the plugs near the passenger side.
  10. like i said i take a 4wd kit i had in my lifted landcruiser in oz. its got a shovel, tracks, inflatable jack, all sorts of gear. i really thought more kiwis would be into subs on the sand. i had a brumby once, that was an epic little ute
  11. Im reasonably experienced with beaches in Oz like Fraser Island and Morton Island with landcruiser. Im mostly worried about ground clearance as Ive never entered Muriwai before and not sure what the soft entrance is like? 90 mile I think from memory isnt too bad? I always have a 4wd kit with me, tracks, shovel, inflatable jack etc
  12. I was curious is there one on clubsub? Im in the middle of looking to raise my 250t import, likely with outback springs/struts. When the air suspension gave out they were replaced with a lowering springs/struts, now the tow ball sometimes bottoms out haha. Just curious does anyone take their legacy down Muriwai or like 90 mile beach? Mine has the diff lock button, but sadly the air suspension is of no use now.
  13. well i could take it to my aunts down south for the day. exactly how hard would it be to do and will i need specialist tools? u guys are helpful and motivating, i love my subaru, ive had a lot of new cars but this wagon is by far my favorite.
  14. yeah id have no problem doing it myself except my landlord wont even let me work on the car in the driveway thats why i gotta get a mech to do it :-( good idea about the photo. funnily the car sits flush to the road but makes it look like the rear is a bit more slammed than the front if that makes sense.
  15. cheers for that, you think strong for might do me a trade? i believe these were brand new when put in. also do strong have a mechanic or they just parts? much karma to you folk for helping me out.
