  1. I have the redline on my Type R and is nice and quiet but has a nice beat. That was on stock headers but it will be interested to see how it changes with the Xforce headers.. Had a 3" straight pipe on my old legy that we made at our flat.. made it as straight as we could and jesus the thing was SO loud. Through very large flames too.
  2. New radiator put in, header tank installed and all (but one) water lines plumbed up
  3. Mint cheers! Drop me a text and come see if you want those adjusts bro
  4. I do know the block is open deck but I'll contact him and find out the rest. Hopefully all is not lost..
  5. This is what I have found so far. 2. Bucket-style HLA EJ20G usage[edit] Impreza WRX 92~96. Impreza WRX Wagon 92~96 Impreza WRX STI 93~96 EUDM Subaru Impreza Turbo 94~96 Power output ranges from 220 PS @ 6000 rpm and 260 Nm for the WRX Wagons to 275 PS @ 6500 rpm and 319 Nm for the WRX STI Version II. Engines can be identified by coil on plug with 1 M8 bolt per coil and valve covers with 4CAM 16VALVE and horizontal lines above the plug holes. Generally these engines all have the slanted intercooler. Some engines may not have HLA buckets but solid buckets with shims underneath. These engines also feature lighter valves, the intake valves are marked INKO and the exhaust valves are marked EXKO. The standard HLA valves are I252 and E283 respectively. All WRX Wagon engines and automatic sedan engines came with a TD04 with 90 deg elbow, all manual WRX sedans including STI versions had a TD05 Oil cap also says '96
  6. Hey guys, Been trolling the internet trying to gather information on properly identifying my block and heads. I have found two codes on the block where it means the trans. First is split over where the two halves join and is 454432454059 The second is 613647 and that is located on the right had side of where the block meets the trans (if you are standing at the front of the motor). Also how do you reliably identify the heads? It says 4cam 16 valve on the covers which i believe means they are not the original.. I fear the engine has been swapped on me and not even an STI. I only checked the chassis plate on the car and not the actual engine before I sent it off to be built and fear I have just wasted a **** load of money.. Motor is supposed to be EJ20K out of a V4 Type R
  7. Right, thanks for clearing that up! I went to a "turbo specialist" place on Great South Road as I was driving passed and asked them and they told me to undo the band.. oh well ill give that a go now. Cheers guys
  8. Hey guys, Just in the process of putting my turbo back on and I am wanting to rotate the compressor housing of my vf30. Now people have said to undo the V band clamp that joins the exhaust and compressor housings and spin but there are two problems.. Firstly if you do that the oil feed and return are in the wrong place. Secondly there is a stud on the compressor side where the two join and only one hole for it to seat. Is there a way to just spin the compressor housing itself? Cheers, Scoob
  9. Turns out I was trying to upload the photo into this box after clicking the insert image button and not just coping the link into the post! cheers for the help guys, much appreciated!
  10. Still get an invalid file pop up!!!
  11. It just says invalid file when I try to import into my post
  12. How do you upload photos? Cant find a post on how to?
  13. So just ended up grinding off the studs on the bottom of the manifold and then bending the crap out of the intake to make it fit. Not ideal but managed to get the manifold to seat after lots of swearing. Still after people experiences though Cheers, Scoob
  14. Hey guys, I have had a really good dig/read through the forum but I can find what I am looking for. I am currently in the process of putting my v4 back together and am currently flipping the manifold. I have the 6mm phenolic gaskets which are great but when the manifold is rotated it fouls up on the aftermarket silicon intake pipe. It seams most people that have rotated the manifold are running a twisted setup or have gotten rid of the IVC. Has anyone kept the turbo in the stock position and still run the intake under the manifold when it has been flipped? Thanks, Scoob
  15. Hey guys has anyone had any experience with rebuilding d2's? Anyone in auckland know of any good shops to get the knock gone? Cheers
  16. Hmm ok so both of those are out of the question then seeing as I will be getting the turbo rebuilt. I haven't seen any second hand aftermarket ones around on TM for a good price? Might just have to stay with the stock ones..

  19. Hey guys, My VF30 seems to be leaking oil out the back. Are these rebuildable? or shall I bin it and buy another VF30? Thanks, Scoob
  20. Hey guys, Looking at buying these. http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/subaru/other/auction-749495814.htm Anyone had any experience with them? I have read that the 50mm up pipe isn't that great for spool? Cheers
  21. Ok perfect thanks for clearing that up Boon. Just checked and yes it is defiantly MY98 Cheers guys
  22. Things like phenolic intake gasket, kartboy shifter bushings etc. Am I correct in thinking that even though it was built late 97, 98 parts will fit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kartboy-5-speed-Shifter-Bushings-for-Subaru-WRX-Legacy-/161316410694?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item258f351546&vxp=mtr and http://www.trademe.co.nz/a.aspx?id=743909112
  23. Hey guys, I have brought a Type R that I am in the process of fixing up. According to the chassis code it is a version 4, not 3. It seems a lot of parts are either for the '92-'97, and '98 and up but I am wondering will my car fall into the 98 bracket seeing as it is the version 4? I don't want to be ordering in parts from overseas only to find that they don't fit. Thanks Scoob
