  1. Nope but just as good, throttled it under the hood and watched it at the same time, it's just not opening. sometimes it will, like first run or so of the day and it MAY work again later just depends, very variable when it works, annoying as haha.
  2. Hmmmmm, might have to give that a go, nothing to lose at this stage. Thanks!
  3. Should I open up the BOV and just give it a bloody good clean? Maybe the actual valve is a little sticky??? I doubt it but yeah, that's all I can come to at this stage. Hence me asking you guys, the pros. Do BOVs go faulty often, like, is it common??
  4. No silly questions mate, it all helps. But yes, I know how to get them to work and build up plenty of psi, that's why it sucks. It's like, build up.....rpms up, you can feel the car on boost and under pressure per se, easily, then......*duck fart* lol. Nothing. Just a little psh which you can JUST hear, passengers or people not actually listening for it would miss it, it's that bad. So it's not driver error, put it that way. Thanks all the same!
  5. Aha, thanks I get yah mate, I've had it loose and had it tight, now, on to the cars hahahaha, lol, nah but yeah, I've had it set both ways and still quiet. With the spring and screw loose, it definitely made more noise more often though. It's back to tight so I'll loosen it tomorrow. No effect at either end on idle though.
  6. Sorry to be a dumb ass but what do you mean exactly? Doesn't sound good, me and turbos are not the biggest of intellectual partners.
  7. Hey guys, I purchased a GFB Hybrid BOV for one of my old 2000 GTB wagons around 2 years ago. My sister has the car now, so I removed and swapped the OEM on mine and got my GFB off hers (same year vehicle/model). Everything went in sweet, simply switch. However, the BOV only works around 50-60% of the time. Not sure if it was doing it while on her GTB as she wasn't sure how it worked or "not sure how to make it sneeze" lol I didn't think of trying it as I figured it'd be a hassle free install. It usually always works when cold for that drive, turbo pressure build up then PSSSSSH. I'll then park it up for a few hours, say, to clean the car, take it for the "dry down run" and it'll be quiet. You can still hear it....JUST. It's only making, I'd say, 10-20% of the full noise (100% being the PSSSSSH!). I've checked all the lines and everything is in check, no leaks, return hose is bunged and clamped, hoses are tight. The only thing I can think of is perhaps the spring adjuster screw. I searched but nothing useful. Could the screw be too far out? Having said that, I just put the screw pretty much flush with the actual exterior of the BOV surface and it still did nothing. I thought, maybe adjusted all the way out (very loose) would mean the valve and spring would open a lot easier resulting in the PSSSSH? Any ideas, help or input is much appreciated. Always the way, little things annoying yah grrrrr!! lol Cheers, Carl
  8. Hi guys, I'm having some issues with my BH 2000 Subaru GTB wagon. The gauges on it sometimes have a mind of their own and while driving EVERYTHING starts to flash on and off, on and off, on and off and it does this until you switch the car off. The rpm/speedo needles go back and forth in time together and the entire instrument cluster lights on and off etc. Very very annoying and odd. Anyone know how to fix this and why it's doing it? Also, my engine hesitates sometimes, very rare but it does happen. On 3 different occasions it's completely cut the engine off/died, twice on very busy streets - NOT GOOD! I'm thinking it could be the fuel pump but am not sure. The times it cut out the tank was around 1/4-1/2 full so it wasn't drained or anything and every time it cut out was when I had to give it a decent amount of gas so maybe it's not giving the EFI enough juice. My fuel gauge is also out, I have to use the tripometer to work out gas. If it is the fuel pump, does anyone have the part # or am I better of going to the Walbro unit I saw a lot while searching? Seems overkill for a completely stock car and apparently noisy? I had the entire gauge replaced with a brand new OEM unit as well as brand new OEM fuel sending units but no good. Any help is appreciated. I don't want to go to Subaru and pay $91 per hour and am seriously considering selling it as there are also other electrical gremlins, just not as annoying as the two above. For Japanese, the electrics is very surprising!! lol But, I'd rather spend money on this car to fix it as selling it + cash won't get me anything close to what I have, it's a great car minus these issues. :-[ Thanks, Carl IMG]http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l325/Carlwalski/GTBA1.jpg[/img]
  9. Touche, I will call around to see if I can find myself somewhere reputable, hopefully in the Upper/Lower Hutt area. Hope it's an easy fix as I'd really like to rid the same thing on my bro in laws car too. Thanks again for everyone's help, you guys have been truly awesome.
  10. Thanks guys, lots to ponder over....don't want to spend much money on this car so will try my best to do what I can, but, it sounds like a professional is going to be needed - bugger. About the plug and play, just saying that as even my Ram has a good system like that, nothing fancy and as much as I like my yank tanks, Japanese cars out tech them easily so I'm more surprised than anything else that Subaru doesn't have it's own "SCT Tuner", of sorts. Do these instrument clusters maintain the odometer reading of the vehicle or is that stored elsewhere? Just asking as a new cluster might also solve it, it seems touchy but everything back there is fine (had alarm guy look at it today).
  11. Shlt, at that price, I may as well grab 2 (1 for a spare).
  12. Thanks log1call for the in depth answer and help, much appreciated. Where are most guys in Hutt Valley taking their Subarus too? Wish there was a plug and play style self-diagnostics with these cars, unless I just haven't heard of them. No joining wires etc, just something you plug into your dash and it tells you whats up, simple eh lol.
  13. About the fuse, which one would be for the Tiptronic/auto/transmission? I can't see anything that would be for it, unless it's in the engine bay? Any help? :-[ Interior fuses.......... img]http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~chrisarg/ClubSub/tech/translate/IMG_0097t.jpg[/img]
  14. Thanks, but if it were blown, that would mean that nothing would show, ever. Correct? As it is now, it still works on and off and has fits and starts etc etc so the fuse must be fine or? Ta very much like!
  15. All good brother, I welcome the different ideas and opinions, I don't wear my heart on my sleeve. No drink spills I can see (See photos). Everything looks to be in the correct order for the age (110,000km). I hope it's not in the cluster because that will be beyond what I feel safe doing (electrics = arrgh) lol. Someone mentioned fuse? Didn't know the gear or shifter area would have one.
  16. Yup, when I chuck it in drive [D] and anywhere along the actual cable shifted gears (PRND321) it shifts and moves in the speedometer display area. Only when I shove it over to tiptronic and the electronical wire shifts does it start to play up. Flashes from the gear I'm in, to [D], then sometimes to [-] then most times nothing at all LOL. Be good to get it sorted so then I can fix my bro in laws car too.
  17. LMAO! Nope. Good fun but this is my cruisy surf "hack". Long drives with cold feet or pies in the hand = perfect in this wagon. Tiptronic is good when it works, just a PITA as I know it's not right, livable but ghey. Anyone know what the problem could be? Surely others have had it? In the 4 GTBs we've had between my brother and law and me, 2 of them have done this.
  18. Thanks for the input everyone. Still not working, in fact I think it's worse. Mind you, I've only had the car since Saturday so perhaps I haven't had enough time driving it to discover these issues. Now when driving and it does display (which is rare), it jumps from 2nd to 4th quickly sometimes every so often and then displays that [-] sign at various times as well. I just go by feel/rpm to know what gear I'm in but still, what a PITA!! I pulled the cover and shifting housing off to have a look, tried to drive it like that and still not working. It all appears to hit the magnet things when you shift up or down and looks pretty standard, then again, I'm no Subaru pro. Can you guys spot anything out of the ordinary? Thanks, Carl
  19. I just blocked them out in MS Paint lol There are photos on the net of my rides with them on, can't do much, if someone wants your/my/our cars they will get them or find where we live. They best bring an army if they plan on taking anything though. Thanks for the kind words.
  20. $2,000 for everything. Cost was obviously twice that, and then some. Imported by me with around 50 hours playing time on all the gear ie: new. The rear lights are sprayed using: "VHT Nite Shades" I swear by the stuff. I have a dozen cans at any one time. I do it to most of my cars. You can spray them off the car but I mask up on the car so I can stand back and make sure the colour isn't too dark or light while it's on the car, hard to do when it's off the car. Easier to eye it up. Takes like 30-45 minutes to mask it up properly. Works great, light shines through more than ample. Leave the reverse lights as they're obviously handy at night lol. The silver car of is around 10+ coats (1-1/2 cans). The black one was around 6 coats. Cheers, Carl
  21. Thanks mate, it's for sale if you want it, drops right in perfectly to YOUR BH. ;D The subs clear the seats, the custom frame holds the amps that sit in your spare tyre hole and the capacitor fits in the jack space. The system made 131db with an ipod, CD would probably up that a little more, 135db or so. Pretty good for what it is (nothing hardcore). The Subs are Phoenix Golds latest comp range capable of handling 1500+rms. I had 1 amp per sub, 1,000rms into each to feed them what they want. For sale if anyone is keen, can delivery to the lower North. Thanks everyone else, great forum, great bunch of guys and great cars.
  22. Thanks, I like gloss and it was "only" my surf hack and as it was went WAY overboard on the sounds install lol. I wanted to have a big system and still have room for my surf gear + be subtle and not in your face. I think it worked well. Was a fun car.
  23. Both. To be 100% honest, I'm not a big Japanese performance car fan. Subarus and Nissan Skylines are the only cars I like from Japan, the GTR being my favorite Nissan, I'd never spend money on one but respect is due. I'm into American cars (flaming begins lol) but have always loved the GTB wagons. I like my cars very subtle and tastefully done. Can't stand cheap looking cars with 18 body kits, stickers, 5ft wings, altezza lights and the only engine mod being a CAI kit LMAO! They're the reason Japanese cars get soooo much grief about being "rice". Lowered a tad, nice 18" rims and some nice custom tastefully done touches IMO are the way to go. If I had to choose, it would have to be looks. I'd rather have a nice cruising car than an utter POS that looks like a crap but can go fast - you can't polish a turd. 2c
