  1. I'll be happy if it finally cracks the elusive 300wkw (for this engine). Head work was done when I got the engine.

I've already got the headers, I've gone through 2 sets of a/m headers, so when a bl/bp header/sump combo popped up I grabbed it.

Interesting, I hadn't heard of any dividers issues before. Space and plumbing would be the biggest pain with twin gates.

  2. Finally building my twin scroll set up. 2.0L with some head work.

In theory it's going to be bp/bl headers with up pipe adapter to T3 t/s (with a single waste gate from here), gtx3071 0.82 t/s rear, high boost of 2ish bar.

Will a single 38mm wastegate be enough? currently have a semi new 38mm tial so I'd like to use it if i could.

I've read most people advise 44mm, but want to know if anyone has had creep with a 38mm

I saw you driving through Whitianga, I was not expecting to see an S203!

Didn't realise you were on here either. Woulda made a good photo shoot! RA-R and 203

Car looked good, mint parking location. You didn't get a chance to do a parade lap this year?

  4. 4-6psi increase resulting in 10-15kw gain seems wrong to me, but I don't know VF's, thoughts?

To me the difference in the curves to the difference in boost is pointing at intake temps getting to hot on high boost. Hot day, TMIC, possibly oil residue & turbo at it's limit could all be contributing. I would have thought you'd (/tuner) be able to see that in the data though.

  5. Subaru's...

I've just been through this - compression, leak down, back pressure check. Mine was both lazy and low on power though, turned out to be the new turbo.

Another note although i'm not sure how comparable it is as they were different cars, but at least same set up/dyno/tuner - previously had a BE5 with rebuilt engine b4 heads and v7 short block (no CR check when built, and suspect it was slightly off), made 221wkw. Next BE5 had a unopened v5 sti motor and made 234wkw. Take what you want out of that

  6. Did they mention what values it was set to cut at?

Must have been IAT (>50c or similar) vs rpm or map?

When the car is dead cold, plug the laptop in without turning the car on and see what the IAT is, should be similar to ect around 20c or so depending on ambient.

I recently replaced my FMIC thinking it was doing a poor job (10c above ambient cruising and 30c above in heated driving). Turns out the sensor calibration was 10c high.

  7. Under ecu settings on the left -> engine protection you'll find gp rpm limit 1 & 2 (and a table if they are enabled). And check statistics to see how many times gp1 rpm limit was hit.

Oil pressure cut It wouldn't create a lack of power for a significant time other than when oil pressure was below whatever it's set for.

High ECT and or IAT would reduce power depending on what's in place (boost target reduced over 100c ECT or pulling timing/fuel/boost target at higher IAT)

Send me your log and tune file if you want (pm for email) and i'll have a look at whats in place.

Rev limit on the Link says 8000rpm but in real life my car redlines at 7500

Assuming advanced mode of rpm cut is off, it starts "soft cutting" 500rpm early from memory

  8. I'll join in Whanga and head in which ever direction.

I don't want to hijack but if everyone is coming to the area the best cruise is the old coro cruise route, with (imo) the best peace of road between Coromandel and Whitianga, and great stops on the way up to Coromandel,

Generally meet at Kopu pub starting point with Mobil 98 across the road, stop in at Waikawau Bay for sharns, great lunch at the mussel kitchen just out of Coromandel, beer at Whitianga and then down to Whangamata.

  9. I thought in terms of calipers mounting brembos and 2 pots where interchangeable. (now confirmed after reading the link)

As for rotors, long time ago I brought mine and the memory struggles but reading that link suggests v7/8 WRX rotors, assuming you have the r160 rear end.

From memory these are the 290mm rotor with 190mm handbrake?

Appears the v7/8 wrx with 4/2 pots have a few listings but the 290mm have the same part number as the 290mm from the be5/bh5 (repco's part number TSR653, could ring them and get them to measure the inner diameter as the system doesn't list it)

Not to be a dick but those headers have a rep for being terrible, the gasket at the join just fails over and over and over.

If you are using the up pipe that came with them, don't, the flexy can fail and destroy turbos

I've got these, I haven't had an issue with the gasket but the flexy giving up was a very expensive failure

  11. I haven't ever had an older link but from playing with the newer ones;

What are the rich and lean values?

As you said the possum link wouldn't have the o2 as an input, but unplug it and find out.

The coolant temp sensor showing 60-70 sounds normal.

If a sensor is faulty (and the engine check light is an output and the error values in the link are configured right) the link will blink the engine check light.

Sounds like a tune issue, have you plugged in a laptop (assuming it is laptop compatible)

Who originally tuned the closed loop fuelling? You had Prestige tune it again recently didn't you?

It's probably more about the AFR targets/dither voltage, other wise it's just turning it on and setting gain/limits.

Mine was originally set up with closed loop; after the latest revision with the big honking turbo we ditched the O2 sensor and just went open loop all the time and I actually get better fuel economy so I don't think you're missing out on much.

    Good info, cheers

  13. A mate's "professionally" installed alarm really opened my eyes as to how easy it can be done. He drowned his remote so we needed to bypass the alarm and it took us all of 2 minutes.

Also side note; we had a mates paddock racer going missing (2L n/a impreza). No battery or gas, 4 flat or popped tires, rwd/welded diff with 1 snapped axle, almost if not every panel dented. Why would you...
