What year? I'd say a GC8 around 4 seconds with the right tyres and driver... they get quite a bit slower after that.
Okay, that sounds about right. What about 04-06 sti's? Im presuming they would be similar.

The RevD you linked is tiptronic. They're worth nothing.
I would take a manual RevC over an auto RevD any day.
Oh I didnt notice that...
I would take any manual Subaru over any auto Subaru

Rev D's are basically just the last revision to the vehicle so most things that were wrong with the older ones were ironed out. Even without a tune the rev D's are way nicer to drive.
Notice the different light design, mainly indicator area. Probably the easiest way to tell it's a rev D
I just took another look at this rev D on that link and its cheaper than the other one which was not rev D and it has less kms and it seems to be in okay condition, why is it so cheap?
Would it be a car to consider getting?

What sort of 0-100 numbers would you realistically expect to get from an STI putting out 230kw?

It does look tidy, and a decent car.
The drawback I see is that it's a Revision C as stated above.
Basically the main differences between the Revision C and Revision D are the following:
Different headlight design and HID's (did come on some Rev.C's)
Flashable ecu for tuning
New Motor design which is a stronger motor (within reason)
New turbo design with less 'Valley of Death' (point where second turbo comes on and power drops and comes back)
Some came with optional 4 pot / 2 pot subaru brakes, however it's hard to find examples of this now.
uhh okay, thank

that legacy looks like it may have been AUTO at some stage, The Dash has the window at the top for the Sport shift and the Auto selector display on it as well?
Oh yeah thats possible... You mean that bit in the middle of the speedo and rpm is supposed to have P N D 2 1 or whatever? Looks like it aye.

I would love to know what a Rev D is. What is it?

Way more potential from a rev D though. Sure it's tidy but it's not hard to get a good rev D's for that price
Sorry for my ignorance but what is a rev D?

Frankits underground car park, the usual place we stop at in town.
Well when's best for everyone else then? This Saturday afternoon/evening?
We don't generally get many people
Saturday up to 3-4pm is okay but any time after is not ideal for me, I prefer Wednesday or friday night but im not the only one so see what everyone else thinks.

Who the hell mentioned an underground carpark?
its Mana... you'll be under the seaYou may as well reschedule Graham. not going to be many people...
Read original post, he says to go to burger wisconson then head to an underground car park in town...
-
I wont be able to make it to burger wisconson so what time will you likely be at the underground car park? I have a small time window where I can come. I will probably need someone to flick me a text at the time though. I might bring my cousin too.

I think you might have trouble bolting up the strut clevis as the STi equivalent of your car has bigger 5x114 hubs. You'd need spacers if that's the case which would presumably require a cert. Make sure you measure before buying =]
hmmm yep will do.

Can you find any suspension from a WRX or STI from same model? That would be a good easy swap
That could be a good idea. I might do some research on it. surely there is some laying around somewhere.

+1 on them tyres, off to get some new ones for the legacy after Saturday's track day and finding out how terrible they are!
Yea I 100% agree with tyres for better handling but I also want a bit more stiffness in the suspension as its a NA subaru it has quite a soft setup and I would like it to give me more confidence in the corners, the sway bar has helped a lot tho. I thought about upgrading the bushes to poly but thats difficult without the tools and a pain to do. Would something like progressive lowering springs be something to consider?

Good new tyres and an alignment.
Alright, will probably get new tyres when the old ones wear out, im cheap af.

Today I received the 19mm rear Sway bar which has now replaced the oem 15mm one. This is my first proper performance mod and it works a treat! Very happy, any suggestions on a next, easy and cheap handling mod?
Cheers

Track hack/project car build cost?
in General Vehicle Discussion
Posted · Edited by Dazz01
Sounds about right. you could get a nice shell for 2k, an engine, turbo and some suspension for 6k, if your doing a re spray, that would prob cost over 1k and 1k for tuning sounds right. Since this is a daily car its about right, you would spend so much more for a race car build... One thing though is that suspension could get expensive, Good wheels/tyres, suspension cost a lot and there is also sway bars etc which doesn't leave much for a good engine, turbo and other stuff like fuel pumps, ecu, injectors, exhaust, intake, brakes and all that stuff you might wanna upgrade.
I really dont know, my guess is 10-15k depending on what you really want.
