As a MR2 owner who pictures a 348 as the "goal" I can't be too mad about above post

Well, the bbs rims have now been hit with paint stripper. Bit of sanding to get the last stubborn bits off. Evidence of a previous repair. Have some good primer and 4 cans of bbs gold (paint code gk1 for anyone playing at home) will get the tyres removed before paint, as the tyres are totally stuffed
Plan now: Sand, couple of coats of primer, sand, gold, sand, gold gold gold till I run out, then clear coat, tyres on, fit to car, flatnats. Lol
where did you get the paint made up?

I kerbed my 15s and ended up with a small cut in the tyre.
I've read its not safe due to the tyre maybe blowing out, but I'm going to set aside some money and possibly getting the tyres changed next week. Anyone got an idea how much they charge for changing tyres?

It's a crime imo if you have a GT wing but SR20DE / RB25DE (non turb but looks fast).
It is a nice car though can't take that away from it lol.
I don't have a pic but seen a Ford with 432bhp or something like that (not an engine size whether in L or cu in), a claimed HP figure written on the side.
I consider that a crime.. and I love stickers

Picked up a set of 195/60R15 Pirelli Cinturato P6s today as part of my 'theme' for my car (90s Subaru WRC inspired, Pirelli were a sponsor)
420 treadware, traction rating A and other rating A, 88V.
I'm not expecting too much in the way of performance but it will be an upgrade.

hope you get it back

thats terrible, hope you get it back

Anyone know if theres one of them fan style jets that's a direct eplacement, as opposed to the twin jet most of em have?
Sorry, bit of a thread hijack
Do you mean the newer style that shoots a much sexier stream?
+1 for air over pins, I've tried pin before on another car I've owned and would not recommend

Yes, particularly middle aged men in newish Mercedes Benz sedans who get incredible small-penis syndrome when you overtake them on a passing lane.
They do, or if they're in a big AMG v8-12 they usually will speed up to dangerous speeds in a lot of traffic just to prove they're better than you.

Depends what Subaru I guess. My Sti Wagon doesn't seem to annoy people too much but an sti sedan with the wang and a loud af exhaust might get some numb nuts to go off their nut as it is a lot more 'boy racer' ish...
I like to think they are mostly angry because they got overtaken by someone half their age who is driving car twice as quick as their car and also worth half the price as theirs...
Kinda agree.
What do u drive?
I have a 1995 WRX SA (STI). With a WRX sticker and a standard exhaust, just I do not have an exhaust tip
That's exactly how I think those people who react in that way feel.

I think they do
I have had numb nuts high beam me
People speed in passing lanes to avoid being overtaken
One guy did not give way at a roundabout and high beamed me for later overtaking him (leaving Clevedon to Manukau)
Of course there is the "boy racer" stigma but the general competitiveness of some drivers out there is nuts.
Agree or disagree?

Was with AA who have been great, just couldn't justify the cost vs agreed value. $6700 agreed value and $1000+ premiums... pass.
Now with AMI with agreed value of $9k and $300 less in annual premiums. They had no issues with my history or the body kit and lowering springs.I review things every year anyway, so might end up with AA again if the price comes down.
I think I'm with Tower or whoever works with Trade Me insurance. $90ish per month, tempted to go without insurance but I've had a car broken into and been in a bad car crash before and don't think the savings would be worth it

They are annoying rare little things but I wouldn't mind one. I wouldn't mind getting a 'Retna' and then starting from there. I guessed nothing from the N/A would be usable, as it would all be designed for less torque/power and also not as cool i.e. interior bits. My plan would be to get a 22B kit and fit that up.
I wouldn't mind getting a Type R, but it's so much cooler to say that I started with a shell and built that to sti spec. It would be much more difficult and expensive of course but you'd learn a lot!

1st things first - Definitely clean your AFM and loose the oily filter imo.
Then after that give your Idle control valve a good clean out.
Id say coil packs are fine because they commonly break down under boost, so when its hot and your boost is strong - then the coil packs are doing their jobs
Id also say its highly unlikely its you head gaskets, probably the last thing id check on a very long list
sweet! Have we got an article on cleaning the idle control valve on the forums?
The oily filter will go, I will run it over and then drag it down town like a Subie driving cowboy

did it again today after driving to a client so yeah looks like it only happens when its warm, but here the plot thickens. MAte jumped into the car and while cranking it over started pumping the petrol and after a few pumps it started. drove back to the office and decided to try again and it did it again, Pumped for a little and she starts.
Drove to the shop down the road who did the starter motor for the old owner and he informed me the old keys were shot and he reckons the key barrel is damaged and when turning its not making a connections somewhere, this sounds weird to me as if you pump it it does start up.
anyone ?
if it helps its the Impreza CS so the FWD 1.5l model.
my key is shot too, shouldn't be too expesnive to replace as they don't have chips and all that fancy wizardry. I'd say get the cheapest fixes done first as a way of eliminating the issue.
My key takes an extra second or two for the thing to fire up. I'll recommend getting a new key and if that doesn't solve it get a new key barrel

Hey guys
When cold, sometimes my car will start to hesitate/lag/jitter back and forth in second gear/third gear. Usually the problems solved by either just driving at 40km/h (it comes on usually at 50km/h) or changing up a gear and revving.
If it helps I think my AFM is clogged up with gunk from the oiled filter (will get new non-oiled filter installed into the fender soon, a long with cleaning the AFM and throttle body), and I need to get codes read from supercheap.
I think it could be either AFM or spark plugs/coil packs? I have watched boost gauge stay on and it doesn't show any loss in boost.
I've read online that it could be a BHG... but how could a blown headgasket cause a hesitation problem? I don't hear any backfiring or misses.

I've always wondered what that thing was lol. I thought it was a charcoal canister or oil catch can.
Anyone got a link on where I can read up more on what they do?

Subjective but yes imo they sounds great on wrx's and are near perfect for a daily driven car; don't drone, nice note, awesome quality, STi part (if that's your thing). They're definitely not the loudest exhaust out there though if that's what you're after.
I have a standard STI exhaust which sounded deep and rumbly but been driving without the tip since it rotted off lol. Til I get some money to learn tig welding and weld on my ebay dual 3" muffler. But I'd say the quality is nice, it's thick stainless so less likely to rust and sounds nice plus is STI. If loud is your thing get Apexi Megaphone or HKS or ebay cannon... anything that comes with a silencer will be loud
6 hours ago, THUNDA said:Not sure sorry, the ones I'll be selling are Bridgestone RE002s, 2have good tread, other 2 have good tread but inner edges are worn, probably best for someone wanting some good track tyres without forking out for new ones, will do a deal for cs members when I sell them
never had RE002s only RE003s but would say they're directional due to the type of tyre that they are.

nice one @THUNDA I use meguiars hot wheels which is probably the cheaper choice but ive got to really get in there with the water blaster to take the road sludge off. Just out of interest are your tires directional?

Hey guys
Just wondering if its an easy enough mish to buy a base model Impreza 2 door to use as a base for a 22B replica?
I love the look of the wide body and the 22B in general, but I've only seen one Impreza Coupe listed on TM in the past three months and that was for like 2.5-3k.
If they're uncommon but do pop up on the tard now and then I'll stick with my dream, but I have seen wide body conversions for sedans and interestingly enough, wagons
Alternatively would see if theres more realistic options such as a WRC GT-Four replica built out of a base model Celica which are easy and cheap to find.

Had similar issues where my idle shot up to 2500-3000 and then down to 1000 after I let my car sit for a bit. Cleaned out TB and IACV with brake cleaner. That sorted it out as it was gunked up but I still have a bit of an idle issue where it doesn't stay in one setting when warmed up. I.e constantly 'hunts' between 600-1000rpm. Did you have any write ups or videos you used to help you replace o2 sensor as I've never done that before. Cheers
