You could maybe try running the diagnostic test on it. Might give you some clues. See the Testing section of

^^ my god that wagon makes me want to get a BP :-*

Just loaded it up, not too bad. Got the audio going through the headunit so Darth is booming through the car..lol. Doesn't sound 100% like the real thing, but close enough.
Tons of different voices available too.

PM duckandcover, sounds like he might have the burning of these sorted. Mine's still stuck in the HU.

Never mind. I went and had lunch, came back and they all work...
I'm losing it... :-\

Ok, so I took off the drivers door panel to fit some new speakers. No problem.
But now after hooking up the 3 connectors for the power windows I've got a small problem. All the windows work fine, but the drivers window is misbehaving on the way up. Going down is ok, but coming up it'll move about 2 inches at a time and then stop. If I release the button and try again, it moves another 2 inches. I can hear the relay clicking on and off inside the unit when the switch is pressed, but I don't know why this is happening. The Auto up/down function on the drivers window doesn't work anymore either.
I took all the plugs off and put them back on again, but the problem persists..
Any suggestions?

I just pulled out the factory McIntosh system and left all the amp, speakers etc in place. Using the DIN cable that comes from the factory amp, I just cut the cable and attached some RCA's to connect to the new head unit. The wiring for the DIN plug was a mission to find, so if anyone needs it, here it is..
Front Preout:
- pink (+) and violet (-)
- orange (+) and blue (-)
Rear preout:
- green (+) and grey (-)
- light green (+) and brown (-)
Remote amp turn on is red.

Haha, good luck getting them with the ferocious guard dog in the car

Got a few pics of the new beast the other day.

Can't remember if I mentioned it but I think they realised. Whoever I dealt with wished me a happy afternoon with the soldering iron..lol.
Next up, the McIntosh head unit replacement. Go go ClubSub DIY tutorials

I've got one of the DVD's here. Unfortunately it's still in the unit that I pulled out last week. I'll try and hook it up and get the disc out and see if it can be copied. I think others have tried this though with no success, although I doubt it's impossible.

Well whaddya know, it does work..
Just completed the swap back to the non-nav climate system and no dramas. Cheers avgeek for the writeup. Got the new bits from Rosco's along with some awesome service too. Those guys are keen to help for sure, highly recommend them
So now there's a nav/climate setup going real cheap if anyone needs the parts. Includes the DVD for the nav too..

Does anyone know how to make the units default to the aircon mode on startup, instead of the GPS?

Last of the twins.

Value for money I'd probably have to say the Sygic as it includes the Aussie maps as well.

Ok so this won't be a repeat of the last car buying thread, but I need some advice here. I'm about to pull the trigger on either an 03 GTB or an 03 WRX wagon. Both 5 speed in good nick. Any pros and cons for either? I'm thinking mainly in terms or reliability and resale. I don't mind a bit of maintenence and won't be thrashing the pants off it (well not often anyway). I can do fluid/filter changes ok, any more will be mechanic territory. I know the GTB has a reputation for BEB's but running 95+ and not winding up the boost I should be pretty safe right? Which way would you go and why?
Cheers

I'm using the TomTom app with my 3G and it works great. Usually it sits in one of those cheapies windscreen mounts and gets a GPS fix quick enough. Once it's got a fix it'll even sit on the passenger seat quite happily and continue working. It's definitely fast enough, I use it all over town and it has no problem with finding street numbers.
Also used the Sygic app which is pretty good. You probably can't go far wrong with either one.

Hi all.
Does anyone know if either the 2003 Legacy (BH), or 2003 WRX (GGA) have factory immobilisors fitted? If they do are they dual?
I know I'll probably end up going the AVS route but just curious.
Cheers

I honestly wouldn't put a lot of faith in an AA check. A couple of times I've put vehicles through and they've had problems that weren't found, even seemingly simple stuff like leaking shocks. Not worth it IMO especially the price they charge for them. Find a decent Suby mechanic and take it there.

BH/BE have immobiliser?

My BH doesn't. I think if there is one there will be a light on the dash to show when it's active.
