I have a GF8 v4 and am thinking about getting a new exhaust for it. There are a few nice looking jasma exhausts for good prices, but all of them are for v7. So do they fit easily, maybe with a few small mods, or is this a no go?
Thanks
look up both the gearbox codes, on is on the gearbox he has and the other should be on a plate in the engine bay. Then look them up on this web site http://spda-online.ca/modules/tinycontent/rewrite/tc_28.html that will tell you what rear diff ratios are and if the box you have has DCCD
The car is a 98 GF8 wrx and i have done an STI ECU conversion. I am now getting the CEL code 24, idle control valve.
Now i had been having problems with my idle, but when i disconnected the auto control computer the idle came right. However the CEL stayed on, my car runs right but has the CEL on and runs in safe mode .
The wiring that i have done is:
shorted out wires 9 and 10 on the auto plug
connected wires 11 and 12 on the auto plug to 2 and 4 on the manual plug
connected wires 1 and 4 on the auto plug to 1 and 3 on the manual plug
put a 5v feed into the neutral
Now i have heard that Subaru ECUs have an auto/manual identifier, but all the wiring diagrams for v3/4 that i have found have no mention of one.
I did a manual conversion a while ago, and have recently changed to a manual ecu. With the manual ecu the car now has a permanent CEL which I have traced to doing the manual conversion.
I have done some wiring but obviously some thing is not right, and was hoping that some one could do a write up on what to do, so I can see where I went wrong and to help other people wanting to do this.
Thanks
it has had a bad idle since i did the manual conversion, but have only just changed over to a manual ecu, changing an odd flash of the cel to it staying on all the time
I went to a local auto electrician and they said that putting it up to a scanner wouldn't tell them much more than the CEL code/s, the car is a version 4 wrx with an sti ecu conversion ( but was playing up before then). I am a student and just loss my job, so if there are any free checks that i could try would like to know.
Thanks again
My car is getting the CEL code 24, idle control valve I think. Which would make since as I have had a bad idle ever since my engine rebuild, some times it idles at 2000RPM.
I have now tried 3 different idle control valves and two ecus, and still no change. Any one got any other ideas?
Thanks
I am thinking about buying a gearbox and rebuilding it before i put into my car, so that way i know that it will feel mint.
I am wanting to know hard it is to do, i have done all the work on my car so far, along with pulling engines apart, and want to give this ago.
Well i just got mine done today, by Andy Ward, out in the Hutt. It passed and i will get the plate in about 1 week, cost: $450, of the 4 poeple that do it in wellington, two were over 500 and i could not get hold of the other one. Very quick and painless.
ej207 had factory boost levels of at least 18 psi i think. With that kind of boost most people are happy, and even with forgies its not best to go much further. Forgeis are going to cost more and are noisier
+1 for the ej207
Are the fuel pumps the same or different between wrx and sti?, and if anyone asks its a version 4, i am wanting to do an sti ecu conversion and am wanting to make sure that i am not going to run out of fuel.
Also i am wanting to do split fuel rail mod are the fuel pressure regulators the same between wrx and sti?
