mate if they want to steal your car they wouldnt come ask talking to your face about your car.

every single carpark has their own story, like rob say keep your valuables hidden away

i though your car got stolen from Porirua?

Come on people, just cause they drive honda's doesnt make them dodgey. Nor does asking questions.

well you never know what a thief is gonna do do you? when some random comes up and asks me what my car is at 10 at night. then i get a bit suspicious. Wouldnt you? and yeah i dont keep anything in my car.

na it didnt get stolen. but i thought i may as well let people know.

and i never said they were dodgey coz they drove a honda. i just said they drove a sh!tty honda.

  2. So this could just be me being paranoid but i thought id let every one know just to be sure.

on friday night went to mc donalds in porirua. was sitting in the car park for a bout 2 mins and had 2 guys in a sh!tty as honda integra staring at me. went into mc ds. came out about 5 mins later. one of the guys was gone. and as i was getting in my car the guy still in the honda stopped me and asked me if it was my car. said yupp. then asked if it was a 555 model. said yupp.

then got in the car ate my food and went on my way.

yeah i know its not that big of a deal. but what bothered me is that he knew my car was a 555 model. sure the blue seats give it away but not many people really know about those kinds of subaru models. and subaru's atm are swarming every where. so people might be after the better models?

but yeah just thought id let every one know.

  3. I just got mine back last friday..Went up to taihape on saturday..then went to palmy on monday.

No clue what oil was in it . my mechanic put it all in. dont think its this running in oil though..he said just dont give it sh** but dont stay at constant revs for too long change down every now and then get the revs up a bit but he said not to goo over 5k and not to labour it up hills and not to leave it at idle for to long.

Just treat it right pretty much. Did 1200k in mine over last weekend and it sounds perfect. First 100k are most crucial.

    Hope this helped..:)

  4. ok so ive found a gauge cluster that should fit in my car and look good! http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://www.zerosports.co.jp/shop/index.php%3Fmain_page%3Dproduct_info%26products_id%3D707&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dzero%2Bsports%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-nz:IE-SearchBox%26rlz%3D1I7ADBF_en&rurl=translate.google.co.nz&usg=ALkJrhg0pypK6qd-QDNlTTMaXwD45Jvv-g

i can get it through 41 automotive..

but i dont know anything about gauges...is there any difference with quality? how much should i spend? and what brands would you recomend? really keen on some defi ones...but there a bit expensive from what ive seen..

any help you can give me is much appreciated...

  5. so i went down to macbilt in grenada north and had a chat with allister. Got it back today all rebuilt with forged pistons and all. Highly recommend going to him! he knows what hes doing with subarus. he made it so easy for me. Definate G.C!

now time to run her in.... ;p

  6. tis all good mate. i know like nothing atm so it all helps i guess lol.

Went and visited macbilt today but got told by allister he wont know anything untill they have taken the block apart and looked at it. so i think their going to go pick her up tommorow

Had a quote from my mechanic for my engine to be rebuilt for 5k+ but allister said they could do it much cheaper which is mint and its just down the road from my work so i can go visit on my lunch break :) hah

not sure what the next step is..guess i gotta wait till tommorow.

so if i want to add more power to my car later down the line would it be better if i got a closed deck? or will my current one be fine?

  7. hmmm true..so ill be spending a fair bit then hah. Im definatly keeping this car for a looooong time.

my mechanic rang today and said itd be about 5k+ for the rebuild through him..still need to find out who would actually be doing it. Not sure what kind of condition the block it self is in atm and He said he'd check the crank shaft out so guess ill know tomorrow...

went over to macbilt just before but al wasnt there so ill go back tomorrow..luckily i work just up the road.

what do you mean by open deck builds? i dont know much about this all at the moment..

  8. so i ****ed my big end yesterday :( . got the nice knock in it now...taken it down to my mechanic. so needs to be rebuilt ?

pretty new to subarus and the club (had the car 3 months a 1999 type ra v-limited)

just wondering what i should do and where i should go? and a rough price estimate of how much itll cost?

i figure since im gonna have to fix the engine i may as well replace a few parts while im at it lol. but i dont really know where to start?? id prefer to do the handling rather then the power though..

anyways any help would be much appreciated..

It all depends on who does it as the brembos over in europe are powder coated. But yeah could be best to opt for the caliper paint.

    /quote]

I dont think they will be powdercoated, but there is other types of coating that could be used. When powdercoat goes on it needs static electricity to stick to the metal before being heated where it forms a hard layer that is quite thick so that alone would mean the pistons wouldn't fit back in and if you masked off the areas around the pistons and brake lines it will peal off because of the raised lip you would create by masking. On the other hand anodising would do the trick nicely but limited with colours and would require the pistons to be fully stripped down.

    Heres what one guy did...http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w126-s-se-sec-sel-sd/1465942-how-powder-coat-rebuild-your-brake.html

the powder gets electrostaticly charged to the metal as is passes through the gun, the powder is then drawn to the earthed object. its is then cured at 210 degrees C for 10 minutes (metal temperature) as soon as it is cool enough to handle its ready to go. and its not that thick its about 80-100 microns if that. so its only a very fine lip.

and yes when it gets hot it does get soft but it wont come off as long as you dont go poking or proding it
