  1. Fock me, even though it was a pisstake, could they have chosen a worse matchup than an S15 vs BF5?
  2. Yeah, that's the one I replaced. Of course I only threw that section of hose away a couple of weeks away, so I can't check whether there was a restrictor in there or not. Any chance Subaru would sell them? Cos while the cleaning the IACV has stopped the revs coming right down, they do still wobble up and down between 700-900 rpm when stopped.
  3. The only bit of pipe I've replaced in my car is the 200mm in the 'I' part of the T you see in the photo above. I've cleaned out the IACV and idle doesn't drop to near stall anymore every time I come to a stop, the knock is still confounding me, though. Went for a drive yesterday and stopped after 20 mins, there was knocking coming from the front and what sounded right underneath the driver's seat when going lock to lock, not from the rear, though. When I got home I tried it again, no knock this time turning lock to lock, but it did happen with the wheels pointing straight forward backing down my driveway ???
  4. ^ Well that was easy haha, looks like getting it off will be a different story through, from the looks of things the intercooler is gonna have to come out. Guess that's my Saturday morning entertainment sorted out, then!
  5. True, thanks for the info, though I hope it itsn't that, but I'll check it out sometime in the next week. Fingers crossed, it is just a CV. Had a poke around the engine bay just now, trying to find the IAC from Google photos, from what I've found it's to the right of the throttle body, correct? If so, could somebody locate it in this photo? Also, there appears to be a screw missing holding this bracket on top of the manifold, which is take is a bad thing and should be replaced ASAP?
  6. Okay, cheers for that, that answers the second part of the question, so am I right about it being CV joints for the first part?
  7. So I've been driving to block course at Carrington Rd at Auckland for the last two weeks, block course time is pretty much the most mileage I put on my car, she's up to 155,000km now. And lately I've been hearing a knock when turning the front wheels, thought it would be suspension related if anything because it only started when changing gear uphill, now it seems to happen whenever I turn a sharp corner. Didn't think it would be CV joints as the noise is a single 'knock' instead of 'clack clack clack clack clack'. Also, I've got a new battery after the old one carked it. Before, idle would be all over the place when sitting still anywhere, now it seems to nearly stall every time I come to a full stop when pressing the clutch fully in, as it did before, and when the turbo timer is running from time to time it still seems to rev all over the place. Anyone who can be of any help diagnosing either of these faults?
  8. Clear skies North of Auckland tonight, no repeat of Monday's "snow", unsurprisingly. Lots of pussies complaining its cold around here though, meh, whatever, harden the fuck up I say, I still wore shorts to work yesterday. It ain't cold til it's at least Wellington cold, I reckon!
  9. Got 525km out of a tank driving back and forth to tech in town during the last week, new record! Doing my oil change, and washing, waxing and polishing my car this weekend as well, those last few things are weather dependent, of course.
  10. Replaced all four blown speakers in my Legacy with new ones. Both the old and new ones are 6" Pioneers, so it made for an easy replacement, the old plug fitted straight onto the new speakers, and even the screw holes were in exactly the right places to fit the new ones straight in. Took all of 20 minutes to replace them, the hardest part was reconnecting the driver's door lever to the wire which leads to the lock, which I accidentally managed to pull out, only to discover I didn't need to take the door lever screw out to get the door card out in the first place :
  11. Yep, still runs good, seems to be all good now, maybe it was just being me not being used to having proper boost again cos it was running fine today.
  12. Okay, so both my turbos are going again now, problem now is secondary stage doesn't boost fully until 6000 RPM, I'm sure it used to happen before 5 grand, any ideas how to get it back to normal?
  13. Hidden in plain sight, naturally: I've used electrical tape to put it back together as I need to drive my car to work tomorrow, seeing as I've been driving it for months like this I don't see it'll exactly cause problems. Will visit Supercheap tomorrow to buy some replacement line though, and see if she's running like she should again.
  14. Running always works, although if you're a fat cunt like me, biking might be more up your alley. It's helped me lose a lot of kilos over the years, although lately I've been overeating and drinking too much for it to make a difference. Still, it makes you feel a lot better when you get home from a bike, even if you have an active day job already, like I do.
  15. Good luck, though I still reckon the easiest method is to unscrew each headlight unit and just pull it out, it's worked with both of my headlights, and yes I do have HID's, just takes a bit of wriggling to get it out.
  16. Come to think of it, there's someone who parks where I park during the day who also has a silver TK 2.2l B4, so it would seem there are at least a few around in NZ
  17. I'd say the black ones, they look pretty porno on your STi, both gold and white mags look good depending on the car they're on, they just don't fit with your blue paint job, IMHO.
  18. Nice car and paint job - wish my "standard boring Japanese white" GT-B was that copper colour instead! ;D - but I gotta agree, the bumper doesn't fit in with the rest of the package, and IMHO the GD WRX bonnet scoop should stay on the WRX. While I'm at it, why does anyone think fitting eyelids over their headlights is a good idea? All it does is make your car look lazy-eyed, and doesn't it obscure your headlight beams?
  19. Had the same problem on my 1998 BH5, the left-hand parking light was blown. Undo all the bolts and looms - helps if you have small hands or someone with small hands to help you with this part, my hands are massive so had to get the mrs to help me - you can reach in and just wriggle the whole unit out, undoing the rest of the looms as you pull it forward, it will come out eventually. Replace blown bulb and reverse procedure, voila! It gets easier with practice, if that helps
  20. Cleaned both mine and the mrs' cars today, after leaving early from work, I could hardly recognise our cars they've been so filthy lately. Changing the rooted inner left cv boot for a fresh new one tomorrow at my mate's dad's boatyard, didn't get around to it last weekend when we were wiring up my sub and amp due to lack of proper tools. Should really get around to applying the upper engine cleaner to my vacuum tubes and solenoids as well, wondering how much longer I can put up with substandard boost above 4000 revs...
  21. ^ A taxi? Please, how many Legacy stationwagon taxis have you ever seen? Obviously, it's an ex rental.
