  1. Am in Auckland. May grab the sequential controller and give that a whirl, plus will do the air filter and upper engine cleaner and see how that goes. I saw some stuff about Raijin doing remaps but his website said the same, that he was taking time out to spend with family. If there is anyone else up this way I'd certainly be keen to see what they could do with the ecu!
  2. Even tiptronic/auto ones? Any idea who remaps them? Cheers
  3. Hey all Weve had our tiptronic BH5 Rev D for a couple of years now, and its been fine other than the lag! Just wonder if theres anything we can do to get rid of the VOD lag a bit. Before anyone mentions, selling it and getting a manual isnt an option. Nor is a manual conversion. This is my wifes daily driver, and she just wants a bit more go out of it when she puts her foot down. At the moment it is standard except a cat back 3" exhaust. From what ive gleaned from the search, the ecu isnt able to be remapped in these? Unless anyone knows otherwise? Would a zerosports sequential controller make any difference? From what ive read people don't seem to recommend them for anything other than manuals. Im doing the air filter this week too, but as for anything else am open to options/opinions as to what may give her a bit more kick. Cheers
  4. Hey guys Had an old autogauge water temp gauge lying around that i decided to chuck in the BH5 after the last engine cooked itself without warning. I had to get a sensor, as couldnt find the old one, so just bought a 2 wire prosport one from scarles. Ive installed the sensor inline in the upper radiator hose, and attached the sensor earth to the screw on the adaptor housing. The gauge has 3 connection points on the back, plus a 2 wire loom. The connection points are labelled: I - Assume this is ignition/ +12v G - Assume this is ground S - Assume this is sensor. Then a white double wire with plug, which at a guess id say is for lighting? Havnt hooked these up. The gauge seems to work, as needle moves up to 40 degrees upon starting, and then goes to around 50 degrees once the engine is up to temp. This seems low to me. Have i wired it wrong, or is there possibly a fault with the sensor/gauge? Any ideas appreciated.
  5. Hey all Could anyone enlighten me in how to get the rear headrests out of the seats in my bh5 wagon? Need to remove one to get the carseat in properly for my boy. Have tried to remove it but no joy, is there a trick to getting it out? Cheers
  6. Yeah think it might be going too high. How do you adjust the regulator?
  7. Nope no joy. All other windows work fine. Drivers just goes near to top then back down to halfway
  8. Avondale, but willing drive to wherever if i can get it sorted
  9. Hey all Went out to car this morn, and found the drivers window all the way open After deducing that it hadn\'t been broken in to, i tried to put it up, but nothing from the switch. Tested everything and figured the regulator was dead. So got a working second hand reg, stuck it in, and now the window goes up near the top, seems like it hits a stop, and then goes back down to half open. Ive tried the reset procedure with no success at all. It seems like the window is either coming up too far and catching on the rubber upper door seal, or is angling in too much, if that makes sense. Anyone have any ideas, as its the mrs car so kinda need it working. Alternatively anyone know somewhere i can take it to sort it in akl? Any and all input appreciated
  10. Only $150 for the labour as they did it without taking the inlet manif off
  11. Well ended up being loose hose clamps rather than anything split, so feel a bit stupid but at least the bill wasnt bad. Guess the guy who put the engine in forgot to tighten them. Now just to get the cooling system bled properly...
  12. Is there a writeup on how to do this? Car is going in to Winger shortly to have the fuel leak fixed, so wonder if its worth getting this sorted at the same time
  13. Last engine overheated due to one of the metal coolant pipes going to heater core rusting out from the inside and dropping out all the coolant. Mrs didnt know anything about it til it was too late.
  14. Goin in to Winger tomorrow to get this sorted
  15. Hey all Since having a new longblock put in after the last one cooked itself, we dont seem to be getting any heat through the heater. I tried bleeding the cooling system this arvo but not sure how effective that was, did seem to be alot of bubbles coming up through the radiator filling point. The A/C works fine, the blower works, the climate control display works - im kinda at a loss as to what else it could be other than a blocked heater core. This seems strange if it is that, as heater worked fine on previous engine. Anyone else have any ideas?
  16. Definitely a petrol smell. Dont think evap cannister is in engine bay on this model
  17. i would take it to a subaru specialist and get them to source the fault, and give you a courtasy car too... It could be coming from anywhere bro. I had a fuel line split just before one of the rails.. pissed petrol everywhere!!! lucky the car wasnt hot other wise the hole thing would have caught fire!!!!! Yeah i have a gd mechanic who will do the job for me, but just need to supply him with the necessary parts. I cant see any petrol pissing out anywhere and i had a gd nosy. Its only intermittant too, so figure if it was leaking the smell would be constant?
  18. Yeah i intend to, i just need to know which part it is thats likely to be leaking. Ive read some places that its the rubber fuel joiner hose between the rails, then others say its the rails themselves. Just need to clarify what i need before starting the job, as need the car off the road for minimum time possible as mrs needs it to drive the baby round.
  19. Hey guys Well our legacy has the hideous fuel smell which is esp bad on cold mornings. It seems to be getting worse as can smell it when we stop at lights now too. Ive tightened all the fuel line clamps that are accesible, but hasn't changed much. From what ive read, its the rubber fuel line that connects the two rails under the manifold. Does anyone know if this needs replacing, or if it will just be the clamps that need tightening? If it needs replacing any idea of the part number? Its driving the mrs nuts, and pretty sure its not good for us or the baby breathing that in. Any help appreciated Cheers
  20. Hey all Have picked up another engine to replace the cooked one in my tiptronic BH5 and have a few questions. 1) New engine was manual and still has flywheel on it. Is it going to be as simple as unbolting this, and bolting up the flex plate and torque convertor off the old engine? 2) Are there any special tricks or hidden bolts that i need to know about to get the engine and box split so i can pull the engine? 3) I'll be doing the cambelt, waterpump, idlers, tensioner, cam and crank seals and thermostat on the new engine. Are there any other things that i should do while the engine is out? 4) Does anyone know of a good engine replacement writeup? Im more than happy doing most things as i have a racecar that i do everything on, but havnt done much on subarus before. 5) Any recommendations for places to buy cambelt kit? Ive seen the kits on trademe for $550 odd, is this about right? Or are there cheaper places? Thanks in advance
  21. Dammit engine is cooked and blown HG
  22. Thanks for that. Am pretty much expecting the worst, so if its anything less than HG probs il be surprised. Is the pressure test something that can be done at home, and is there a link to how its done? Cheers
  23. Hey guys My wife was driving back from Whangamata yesterday, and halfway back said she heard a rattling sound which increased with revs, then the engine died. When she popped the bonnet there was alot of steam, and it was coming from an area beneath the BOV and throttle body/intercooler pipe. A guy who stopped reckoned a pipe under there had cracked and was leaking, but after i got there and checked it, found there was no water in the radiator or tank, and the hissing leak was hard to see where it was coming from. Somewhere under the inlet manif anyway. Ive checked the oil and theres no trace of water, foam or anything out of the ordinary in it. Also my wife said the temp gauge didnt get to over half. Im not overly familiar with these as we only just bought the car, so if anyone can give me an insight on what may have happened thatd be mint. My initial thoughts were blown headgasket, but fingers were crossed for just a water leak. BTW car is a 2003 tiptronic BH5 wagon. Cheers
  24. Ok any idea where said horn relay may be? And thats great if i just have to do the tranny oil and not worry bout filters
