  1. OH actually i've just remembered that one of my oxygen sensors doesn't fit in the downpipe whole(way to small) would this throw boost out if it wasn't plugged into the down pipe? as its currently just sitting on the airbox not doing anything haha ;D should really get that sorted asap
  2. im 99% sure Everything was put back in the right place (beyond reasonable doubt anyways) would a vacum leak be likely to give this problem? car goes quite good still but the boost threshold is not right kinda is like lag lag lag VOOOOOOM redline all of a sudden my thoughts are with the actuator or possibly some sort of vacum leak? any ideas there? As to the other question Don't have a boost gauge sorry -should get one eh! an as for codes I haven't checked yet but will go check now although i've never had any issues before with codes so im unsure how to check properly...
  3. got it sorted today an noticed vie got a lot of lag now? any ideas what I might have done wrong? took the whole turbo off an replaced downpipe with a stock subaru 1 an now my boost doesn't hit until like over 4000 when it used to start at 3000 im running a 95sti- td05 turbo am abit gutted now
  4. I'm having a similar problem after replacing a down pipe an up pipe, boost use to hit at about 3500 -3800 now its more like 4500 >.< Am running genuine STI v2 td05 could I be having this same problem?
  5. im interested to know whos been ripped off an how, I personally have been ripped off a few times so im sure im not the only one an to be honest we should know because it would warn other members

A few bad experience personally clutch install gone bad which dmgd my gearbox ripped off by a few people in my early days who what and where is what we wana know -don't be to harsh as we all make mistakes but those who sort out there mistakes an stand by there work is another story someone go first an il post mine up

  10. so sad to hear another 1 crashed I'll never forget the day my uncle drove me in his 22b it set off a chain of events that are still rolling out as we speak My life goal is to get a 22b paid with cash an just enjoy having it how many are in NZ now? I heard it was somewhere around the 12 mark? also where an when is this being sold?
  11. lol ahhh well it seems he will learn the hard way an someone will bail him out an he will probably move onto something else an forgot his mistake its just sad ya know, he could learn the same lesson in a 5k car rather than 25k ADMITTEDLY -when I crashed my grandma bailed me out, an she was all "oh don't worry about the money we all make mistakes ect ect" (yea I take care of my family unlike some of my relatives) BUT I insisted on paying her back in full and Currently I have about 4k togo. Ive probably paid back over 8k since that day and its still counting... Do yourself a favor man just downgrade that car an get something that doesn't matter if you make a mistake. We all do it, and unfortunately its looking like you may well learn the same lesson I have but it will likely cost you double what its cost me
  12. I don't mean to be rude, but seriously this thread is like wtf WHY IS A 17YR OLD WASTING HIS LIFE SAVINGS ON A NEW CAR TO TAKE TO THE TRACK AN MOD ECT... heres what you need to do 1-slap yourself for thinking you can afford to maintain your car an pay your debts study and race a 20k car on 50$ a week 2-sell your car for the highest price you think you can get 3-buy a TRACK CAR that is not road legal 4-buy a trailor for your car 5-buy a cheap subaru that is good /wrx/strs legacy ect 6 save up for a house and dont waste your money on things like 20k cars oh an 7-slap your dad for buying something so stupid at your age Its going to hurt alot for you when you get carried away an crash that 20k car(trust me IT HURTS) an you'll be left with f*** all but a wreck an some memories an no $$ im not saying your a bad driver or anything but seriously until you crash a car at speed an realize its gone you will know why I find this threat fuked up
  13. 7hours later after various trips to this store an that store on an off multiple things multiple times (godam the intake pipes are a PITA) ok shes all good to go, lets fire her up tick tick tick tick FLAT BATTERY >.< lol 2moro is another day
  14. ahh thought so, cheers for that dude, puts my mind at rest I wonder what sorta difference a non leaking uppipe is gona make to my car probably stuff all considering the old uppipe was barely leaking... (better not leak again or il be up shits creek)
  15. nah its connected to the turbine but on the turbo side(not the exhaust house bit) pretty sure its not suppose to move, when I put it back together it seems to have tightened up abit an isnt moving so hope I did it right lol be gutted if i stuffed up my td05!
  16. cool cheers for those responses Ive got the uppipe off now and am about to reinstall after I do abit cleaning check out this topic please need abit help/info Cheers Sam http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,16918.new.html#new
  17. EDIT* ok so installed up an downpipe an now got major lag problems car gets upto 4000 rpm then starts to boost but not quite like it used to.... the bov seems to be working with the boost an I cant feel any leaks, I took it apart today an checked all the lines.no cracks everything hooked up but one intercooler piping wasnt on properly, put that back in properly an it still doesnt boost properly argh, any ideas? I had to grind the old uppipe bolts off an had the wastegate sorta dangling there while i grinded. If I had bent this wastegate piece would it have these issues? the other thing was I split the turbo an it was in all good condition no shaft play at all. Im pretty sure I put it back in correctly but IF I hadn't would a bent turbo fin give this sorta problem? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ok well 6hours after starting to get the turbo off the car I have the turbo off the car an the uppipe off the turbo. The turbo is split .About to resemble everything I noticed the small circle piece of metal under the turbine on the turbo has abita movement in it. (like you can spin it freely) -is that normal ? is it suppose to do that? the turbine itself has no play at all an is surprisingly good condition for age. just that bit under it spins around abit to freely Urgent answer needed (or if you are in chch town im working on it on wordsworth/brougham st right now)
  18. ok thanks for that info how does the uppipe fair? as thats the part I will be replacing soon And I am wondering to heatwrap or heat shroud on it and can do both if its going to work better Or is doing both just overkill on a stock car? I should note it is an sti, which will oneday be running a non stock PSI so that should be taken into account
  19. ummmm sooo what would be Better if I had the option of either? (I currently have my exhaust in pieces) I was thinking both would be good but will the stock piping handle the heat ?
  20. Just wondering if its better to have heat wrap pipes or stock subaru heat shroud ?
  21. Perhaps they didn't teach you proper manners in your day? WHEN ASKING FOR HELP IT PAYS TO BE FRIENDLY AN NOT A LOOSE CANNON good to see you solved the problem though
  22. OK, so a bit of an update after installing the downpipe to find it was still leaking, i removed everything once again.took off the downpipe an intercooler air intake ect.undid all the bolts needed had to buy 2 different sized sockets just to get into some of the fiddly little places (omg how annoying) got all the bolts off except ne C*T >.< The whole turbo an uppipe is moving around easily enough there is one bolt holding onto what is either a bracket off the gearbox or connected to the back piece of the engine.there is a big black pipe which runs up the back of the engine an looks to go onto the bottom of the turbo(although Its very hard to see) The problem being this whole mess of a job is stuffed because the clearance is not enough to fit a socket around the bolt because the stupid pipe blocks the bolt >.< seriously pissing me off get all the way through this job to be stopped by one stupid bolt that cant be taken off?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!"?!?!?!?!?!??! #@%@#^# $ DGF#@^@ IDEAS PLEASE i have rounded off 2 sockets an bent a socket extension(yes they are cheap tools but the stanly socket set is missing a few bits I needed so I used my cheapy which didn't last) 3/5 uppipe > turbo bolts have been rounded off an I cannot proceed any further until I figure out how to get that 1 bolt off. help needed please about to lose my motivation to fix this car an get it on road again
  23. Will keep an eye out thanks for that info. unfortunately it all turned to shit today an is getting abit demoralising all round.will update this on my other topic if any of you are following it
  24. ok cheers, its just a stock redtop with a 3in downpipe (goes great with downpipe highly recommended) Uppipe is gona cost me 100$ new -trademe 120$ 2ndhand genuine part at wrex lol seems odd they charge so much for a 2nd hand part BUT possibly can be fixed after its removed ? I guess I should save my money for the gearbox coming up and the unfinished paintjob to (sigh will it ever be fixed)
