  1. Hi, my friend has a 95 legacy 2.2ltr manual trans sedan non-turbo with a pod filter installed, and every now and then while driving it wants to stall out but kicks in and sometimes it has completely stalled a few times going through a roundabout. any clues on what it might be? I'm thinking of changing fuel filter(has never been changed) running the upper engine cleaner, and injector cleaner through it. if it still persists might get the afm checked? any help is most appreciated thanks TurboRunner
  2. in my 96 wrx sti v2 i get about 420km to 50L of bp98 gas and thats round town driving from home to work etc.. and with a heavy foot every now and then. if i gave it heaps every where it'll do 390k to 50L. but ive got a new block thats only done 20,000km so far the rest of engine has done 124,000km.
  3. yeah most cops have them turned off and turns them on if they suspect you of speeding so if u did have a detector can hopefully catch you out. also speed camera vans are not easy to pick up as my detector goes off when im nearly on top of speed camera vans. but still picks cops up miles away aslong as they have their radar on. also if they are using laser they pretty much have your speed when you laser detector first goes off. best bet to invest in driving to the speed limit and learn mantrol

the painting of the engine bay would be the way to go. cause you wouldnt need to wash the engine bay regularly. just the car. and you could have any engine you dream of having on the bonnet. Subaru with jet engine in engine bay painted on bonnet. or make it look slow by painting a scooter motor in it.
  5. so who sells alloygator in New Zealand?
  6. i've never had a problem with my direzza dz101, but did noticed that they handled better on my turbo skyline than my sti wrx. i think it probably the weight difference as the skyline is a heavier car. I havnt lost grip in the wet or dry and they still seem to have grip and they are down to the time to replace mark thats driving 120km and below, never seen track but if you going to race on the track you would probably use tires made for racing. also like how the dz101 has rim protection so you dont get kurb damage on your rims. does any other tires have rim protection like the dz101?
  7. can it be done to earlier models like the 96 v2?
  8. i covered my alternator when i did mine and never direct sprayed on electrical connectors. i sprayed water first then sprayed degreaser and used i brush where i could get the brush then rinsed off came out great. car still runs fine.
  9. also in the same manual as the 99 to 01 its the red plug with 4 wires 2=Red with blue strip 1=Blue with white stripe 3=Black with white stripe 4=white with black stripe
  10. i cant remember the colour for the switch plug but the manual for the 93to96 impressa says its the brown one with five wires. it also state the cruise control one is also a brown but has 6 wires. Ok according to the manual it should be 1=wb white with black stripe 3=bw Black with white stripe 5=b black 4=wy white with yellow stripe 2=* *=with illumin control=yl yellow with blue stripe without=b black and the relay plug according to manual is black with 4 wires 2=Green with Red stripe 1=white with yellow stripe 3=Black with white strip 4=White with black stripe. hope this helps ive also had a nosey at the 99 to 01 manual and that has different plugs but the manual i read is for left hand drive one the switch plug is grey which has five wires 1=BLue with white 3=black with white 5=yellow with blue 4=white with yellow 2=yellow with blue
  11. hi ive got a v2 sti and have just fixed my spotlight problem which some mechanic had disconnected the relay and forgot to connect it backup. the relay on my car was found on top of the a/c box behind dash if you remove your glovebox and lookup to the right hand side you should see a plug connecting into a small square relay which is clipped into a bracket on the a/c box.
  12. where do you bend the no8 wire around the outside of neck a pull on after spraying crc on the inside of pipe? like the brass t-joins i used pretty expensive but will last.
  13. ok just done the bypass now just having trouble getting tmic back on can get the pipe that mounts to turbo back on anybody know an easyway of getting it on. heres a picture of my bypass
  14. hi, has anyone done this on a wrx im trying to do it on a 96 wrx sti v2 and looks like the amount of gap the t join creates between the two hoses is too big and puts hose in the way of the clutch fork movement. any other ideas to solve my problems the two heater hoses goes to the passenger side of motor so one cuts accross where the clutch fork is.
  15. Hi, there is a air filter and oil change guide its called KELTIK's DIY thread http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,2243.0.html thanks to Keltik hope that helps
  16. ratchet tryed again to take box off i cut some of the tabs on the ac that is preventing the heater box coming off but still no go must have more at the back that i cant see or get. i was told its partially blocked and is restricting flow is it possible to flush the crap out while its still attached or does the core need to be replaced might have to put it back together and just bypass the bloody thing.
  17. how do you degas the a/c? if i end up needing to remove the ac box as well
  18. hi is that an impreza? mines a v2 sti wagon on the aircon box top piece it has a tab that goes in front of the centre box which wont let that box come back enough to get off the bolt thread on the firewall
  19. I've removed the steel bar just got the black boxes left cant figure how to get them out. undone two bolts at top of the centre box where the heatercore lives and all the little screws on that box but still wont budge and the aircon box the top part looks like it holding the centre one so remove the little screw on that and cant get the top off that box. do i have to release the air con gas and remove the air con aswell dont want to.
  20. Hi, I'm trying to remove my blocked heater core and have the dash right off just got the black boxes left that has the heater core in and i can get them out to get to the heater core any help will be much appreciated Thanks TurboRunner
  21. Nah its cold in the morning would rather have a heater so pulling dash apart. is there anything else apart from heater core that should be replaced while i have dash apart as dont want to pull it out later on down the track.
  22. just started to overheat found out its the heater core, so ive started pulling dashout is there anything i should replace or get rebuilt while i have the dashout to get the heater core fixed?
  23. Thanks for your help i think you guys might be right there. car still performs so i guess if its overheating i would run like shit before it goes atleast ive done a coolant change was due anyway.
  24. yep your right put the ac on and fans turned on streight away but i thought the fans should also turnon when stationary for a wee bit. any idea why the bottom hose is cold thought it would heat up as much as the top hose as it circulates especialy when stationary as not getting the blowing wind from moving. I'm not overheating at moment but with the bottom hose being cold i think it might be the first sign before car does start to overheat
  25. just ran it another 20min and also revved it to 2500rpm to heat up still the needle stays halfway and fans are still off ive changed the oil on my mates car and ive seen his electric fans kick in within 5min from warm in his legacy. might take it to a garage and get them to check out my fans and why the bottom hose is cold.
