  1. 55 watt... I'm putting this incident down to bumpy Chistchurch roads and a 180k old plug i think...
  2. Got the plug from supercheap, was only a few dollars. Came with wiring already so i just cut the old plug off, stripped the wires and got some proper crimp connectors. Im completely useless at soldering. Works fine, although if i blow another plug I'll look at getting smaller bulbs.
  3. Right like the one I posted the pic of on the last page. Yeah i like them, factory with the multi spoke mags they look ace! ;D
  4. Put it back to normal, works perfectly now. I guess it could have been a 180,000k plug deciding to give up...
  5. Excuse my ignorance... what is a gen 4 legacy? If posible a photo would help ;D
  6. One of my headlights on my 95 Legacy SW blew (well I thought it had). So off to the local automotive car shop for 2 new bulbs, thought I might as well get 2. Went to put it in and the light that I had thought had blowen (left hand side) hadn't. Instead the plug had sh1t itself! More specifically the earth connector had, bulb was fine. Back down to the shop and got a new plug. The 2 power wires I put back together and the earth wire I earthed to the battery earth next to where the headlight goes in. I did this after talking to the chap in the store as he said sounds like a dodgy earth, give it it's own earth to the body. Now... the right hand light works fine, however the blue light on the dash to show full beam comes on very dimmly even when the light are on dip, left hand light is slightly dimmer then the right, and when you flick to full beam the dash light comes on normal brightness, right hand light flicks to full normally and the left hand light gets dimmer. Something obviously isn't right... Where the battery earth goes onto the body next to the left hand light, is this not an ideal place to earth? I'm 99% sure that I put the power wires around the right way.... Anyone have any ideas?
  7. I definately don't drive my cars hard, infact most people would think I just drive like an old man! ;D Just wanted to dispell any myths that I have been fed in the past about Subaru gearboxs and wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to walk into any issues. This is the shape I want, also has to have these mags, manual, turbo, and prefer leather interior. (Sorry I don't know the model number )
  8. So where do I find the gearbox code?
  9. So... there are a lot of rumours out there about Subaru gearboxs and how they are not the strongest. Now that I think I am going to upgrade to a late model Legacy wagon I want to know about there boxes. I really wanted to get one of the ones with the 6 speed STI box which i have read are very good, although I don't think that is going to happen. How are the 5 speed ones? no bad habbits or anything?
  10. Handling is not high on the agenda... would be nice though. Leather seats, nice interior, good looks, enough power to get to 100 in under 8 seconds, manual, low K's, roof racks or ability to put roof rack on is important. The Alfa would have to be the nice looking wagon on the market at the moment.
  11. We went and had a look at this the other day: http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/alfa-romeo/159/auction-351335433.htm These would have to be my fav wagon at the moment... just a bit rich for my liking though at this time... Maybe if I could get a second hand one for $20K less ;D
  12. LOL that's one of the ones I just posted... Would hate to think the insurance costs though :-[
  13. Looking at these Audi's: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=404446246 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=398817626 http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=385029035 I like the first one... Although I like the thought of the 1.8T...
  14. Looked at that one, and keep on going back to it... but it's to modified for my liking. There are a few non modified ones for 5k less. I want that colour though! And those mags suit it. Mags, lowered, muffler are preferably the only mods I would prefer at a push... I don't want engine mods. I currently have a '95 TT manual SW and that's more then fast enough for NZ roads. It's completely standard apart from a boost gauge on the pillar, which if anyone has a standard pillar they want to swap they can have the boost gauge!
  15. I have been looking at 1... awesome cars. Just not to sure I could justify having a V8 though... Also been looking at a V6 turbo 380hp one... ;D
  16. Showed the better half and she quite liked it... We don't get our money for about 4 weeks... so hopefully it's still there!
  17. Right, probably not what I'm after then...
  18. Your right although I think it's going to be hard to get one in NZ to be honest...
  19. So they were the non turbo ones? Really just looking for something lateish model, turbo, manual, non modded and special. Prefer leather interior.
  20. I would possibly consider a late model STI WRX... although they are quite a bit smaller then legacys...
  21. Awesome thanks for the replies... That Legacy does look the goods! The other half will like that one! Although the one I seen was about 2003-5? Perhaps it wasn't STI, but it had leather and 6 speed box... Did any of the legacys come with 6 speed boxs factory that were non STI? I agree with the Evo 9 wagon, although the other half isn't sold on them 100%, plus they are extremely rare with only 2500 built world wide. The only one I seen for sale in NZ was modded to bits. I'm trying to find something as close to standard as I can find.
  22. Me and my partner are looking to buy a new wagon. We have quite a bit of money to spend, but we are also being quite picky and want something special. We have looked at Evo 9 Station wagons, Audi's, Alfa Romeos etc. Although I remember seeing a mid 2000's Legacy wagon a while back that had full black leather interior, 6 speed box and Brembo's... Was I remembering right or seeing things? If I'm right does anyone know of one for sale in NZ? What motor did they have? 2.0 or 2.5 turbo?
  23. I'm not going to get dye over my hands on a hot day or anything?
  24. It's still in good nick, probably better then anything in the wreckers. Leather is still nice and smooth. Might just drive it till it's had it and then get a nice aftermarket momo wheel. I do like the factory momo wheels. I am assuming that you can't buy them anymore?
  25. So the steering wheel in my '95 legacy is starting ever so slightly to lose it's blackness (hope that makes sense). I know with leather shoes you can use nugget to polish them back up to looking like new. Although I would assume this would be no good for a steering wheel as you would get black all over your hands when you drive. So is there a solution? Am I just going to have to drive it for a while longer and then go for another wheel? It's non-airbag as well.
