  1. I have the big brakes, adjustable suspension etc aswell. I might just fit it and buy a link. or sell it and get a turbo shell or something. Thanks for the input!
  2. Hi, So I've done a older legacy single turbo conversion before. But now I have a forged STI V4 Engine, w V3 Manifold and sensors to suit a v1 - v2 loom and ecu. The motor has about 5000km's on it, all Wisco, race bearings, high volume oil pump, custom td05 20g turbo, 600cc injectors, old link plus ecu, front mount, fuel pump etc. The motor and STI gearbox came out of my crashed RS legacy. The RS was running a V1 STI computer but I have the link there as well. So the second half, a 1999 BH5 Legacy Wagon (auto, 2.0l SOHC). The Auto Box is dying (really fast). So I thought putting the two halfs together is a good idea. Bolting the motor up and converting it to manual is not a problem. My questions are in relation to wiring, ECU and Manifolds. I contract to a Subaru Wrecker so have access to pretty much what ever parts I want. But I am a student and don't have much cash to throw at paying someone to wire it up, especially considering I would like to get it tuned afterwards. - What is the best intake manifold to use? What sensors? - What is the latest model intake manifold that will bolt up to my V4 STI block? - What ECU should I use? Where can i find pin out diagrams for a non turbo legacy? - Should I just bolt it all up and spend the money on a new aftermarket ECU and Tune? Any advice or suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance! And if you are after a very good running 2.0l sohc motor with a crappy box let me know.
  3. subaru and mitsi tappets do not work the same way. Promar will not quite down a ej engine..
  4. I have an RS Legacy 1989. Best thing I have ever done to it was convert the coil packs to late sti 01+ and bypass the standard single ignitor and use the ignitors that are built into the late model coils. These coils also bolt straight into the same place, i now have way better engine response and removal of back firing, never misses any more, and the best thing being these coils dont break! I did the wiring and installation of all four in 1 & 1/2 hours. There is a guide: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1192028 Wire colours were a little different on the old legacy. But this is something id recommend to anyone.
  5. For me it was my turbo man, it didn't seem to have play in the bearings but the inlet turbine slightly rubs on the housing. It could also be your tune, is your foot completely on the floor during this build up? i bet you a aftermarket computer solves your problems... but at a high price.. just my input, seems like something hard to diagnose without seeing the car / getting a feel for the vibration.
  6. My wrx was a 96, the newbody is a 95. i cant use same loom thats in the new body? but with my engine loom and my computer? Cheers. SOrry just trying to clarify. Am not keen to do dash loom haha, what a mission.
  7. Hi, am going to buy this 95 wrx this weekend. http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,5966.0.html Have a written off wrx v3 sti RA, have pulled motor etc. What do i do re loom and computer? Do modifications need to be made? Do i need to run v3 engine loom if i want to run v3 computer? Need to know what loom i should pull from v3 before i scrap it. All help is greatly appreciated. Tane.
  8. clean them instead so they are shiny. Personally i think painting them would be ugly.
  9. I have completed an STI conversion an ran over 16psi with STI injectors and a standard legacy fuel pump and didn't have a problems at all. Leave it standard. It will be fine.
  10. im sure there is heaps of people on the forum that would do it cheap... i have also a couple of friends that are mechanics that i am sure will be willing for some extra cash.
