  1. what is this restrictor pill and how important is it? where would i get one from?
  2. Well, thanks to Leigh (swindog) went to Farmers auto village, and passed. Turns out, if you fail at 1 place, you can just keep going from garage to garage until it passes. On the webpage they use they cannot see previous passes or fails. Each is logged as a new job. So $40 later I'm all warrented and ready to go. Anyone thinking of going to VTNZ, you should think again. They are a bunch of anal retentive wankers. I'm sorry to grosely generalise you all. Thanks to everyone who helped out. So it's good to know that no records aren't kept as a log against the car.
  3. Will Farmers auto be able to tell that I failed a wof at VTNZ like a few days ago?
  4. Hey does any body know what vacc lines attach to the primary turbo nipple and top actuator nipple? My electronic boost controller has shit itself and I'm not running full boost so I want to put it back to standard. Any help is much appreciated.
  5. Hey thanks very much for the good advice swindog. Much appreciated. Whats your mob number & your name? Mind if I name drop? The car is mint inside and out, except that I had a big oooops while at pitstop on hewletts road after getting a silencer put into exhaust, drop into a drain on the way out and the front kit had a good crunch, but it's not too bad though. Just a 10cm crack and a bit of paint chipped.
  6. So it's gone from a 17" rim with 215/45 tyre to a 19" with a 215/30 tyre. Jeez, no one has picked it up in the 5 years that the car has been on the road. Can I just go to another garage and get a WOF, or will is come up on the internet system that they use and being failed at VTNZ for whatever reasons? Does anyone know the particulars on how this works? I'm happy to go pay another $50 for another WOF, but it is pointless doing so if when they go into the web system and it comes up as having failed just a few days prior? The other thing that I failed on was being 9mm out on height with the adjusties, 9mm! I mean for f**ks sake. The last 2 things that I had to the correct the woman on, yes woman doing the WOF, was the headlights, she said dip beam didn't work, but they were brand new bulbs, Narvo blues from Repco, she just couldn't see them and hadn't put her glasses on, she admitted that, also the GTB has a courtesy lamp that comes on and light up the way to whichever side that you are indicating when you have your lights on. The dumb shit didn't have the lights on and failed it cos it didn't work so I had to point out that you have to have the lights on for it to illuminate. Anyway, rant over, back to my original question, can I just go into a different garage and pay for a new WOF or will they be able to know that I just failed for whatever reasons a few days ago?
  7. True, can you "write off" a WOF once it is already loaded in the system? I know it automatically falls off after 28 days, but time is a major and I have a guy who's willing to pay good money for the car but doesn't want it til the wof is all sorted, can't say I don't blame him, I'd want wof sorted too. So need a quick fix. Anyone know of a "more local" garage in Bsy of Plenty area who aren't concerned by little sh*t like that? Or has someone got some 18s I can borrow?
  8. Hi there, took car for a WOF today to VTNZ in my new home town in Tauranga. Anyway, got failed as having wheels that are too big, don't match the cert plate. Cert plate says 18" but the rims that are on the car are 19". Now this is where is gets messy. The car came into NZ in January in 2007 which is when the cert was put on. The wheels that it came into NZ and got certed with, are the exact same rims that are currently on the car. So it's a clerical error on behalf of the person whoever did the original cert when in came into NZ. All I can think is that it could be typo, mis reading of hand writing or even mis reading of the tyre at the time of cert. Does anybody have any advice on what I can do to get around this as I currently have to go and get another cert at a cost of $350. I have a guy currently waiting to buy the car but wants to wait until it has a wof. On the other hand, does anyone have a set of 18's that I can borrow for half an hour. It's just so frustrating, the car has had 5 years worth of wofs, that's 10 wofs and this has never been picked up. The rims even have japanese stickers on the inside.
  9. Use that black window screen stuff, it's as sticky as all f***. I bought a V8 scoop off trade me that was designed to fit over the top of the original GTB scoop, 3 bolts at the back and the window sealer at the front and she's good to go. It doesn't look nice and flush like yours but still, if you don't look too hard you would never know the diff. Nice work
  10. na I got rid of the BC's aye, they were rubbish, wouldn't even touch them again. They bent heaps of components under the car and gave a rediclous ride. Where are you located? Aucks? Might give you a txt next time I'm up and pop round for a chat. Cos I'm real keen to do a single turbo conversion over winter as a project, to have the car on the road for next sumer. I'm in the Mount and shoot up to Aucks quite often. How hard was it to wind the coils all the way up? Mine get difficult about halfway up.
  11. Hey thanks SlideSector for that piece of advise. Sounds like you had the same ordeal as me. I had some BC golds that went real low (too low) but they were rubbish. I'm gonna do exactly as you say. How far UP have you got it wound in that photo? I still have like an inch of a gap even with it wound right down and it looks stupid like the car is a bulldozer or something. Also I've heard about your wagon (single turbo) keen to pick you brains about what you did to it and if you could do it again what you'd do differently etc?
  12. Exellent. Thanks guys. I'll throw them in over the weekend since it's such crap weather outside and see how they go. Hopefully I'll be able to tuck the rear tyres in the wheel arches with this set. I'm mystified as to why the older more basic set even on thier lowest setting made the cars arse stick up and had a huge gap between wheels/arches?
  13. I've got an old set of only height adj tein already in the Legacy at the moment so changing the top hats won't be an issue. Just want to change the current set up out as it sits funny and even on the lowest setting the rear tyres are still about 20-30mm from the wheel arches. So my thinking is... by changing (upgrading to a newer, higher spec'd) Tein adj, will I be able to bring the wagon lower?
  14. Hey guys, Was just wondering if anyone could help out here (or has any experience). I've used search function and google before posting but couldn't get a definitive answer. Even rang the shock shop (who said they would'nt fit) I found a set of Tein height/camber/damper coilovers in the shed (forgot they were there), does anyone know if they'd fit into a '97 BG5 Legacy wagon? As far as I can tell they'll all bolt up alright (correct me if I'm wrong), but what about height etc? The Forester was a taller car, if I put them in would I end up with a ride height all the whack? I'm looking to just tuck the rear wheels in the arches a bit. I've got Tein's in the Legacy at the moment but the set up on them isn't the greatest, even at their lowest setting the car looks front heavy with the arse poking up by miles. Any and all help would be much appreciated.
  15. Worth a try, anyone else keen, give me a holla.
  16. if you know of any1 let them know, I've got a work HiLux now so it's time to let her go, I wanted to put a single turbo unit in it but just don't have time now. I'll seriously consider any realistic offers. No rush though, want her to go to a good home, she's one of a kind.
  17. hey thanks gunit, it's for sale, see selling part of forum for more pics, buy it, you know you want to.
  18. okay, only question to ask now is, what turbo would you go for when doing the single turbo convert? VF22? VF34? Any others? What do you think it'd cost to get the same job done as on the how to thread? I'm not gonna pay a sparkie to do it, wanna do it myself, that way I know it's done right, I'm quite fastidious when it comes to that type of thing, think I could match the pics in his thread. How much power you think you could get? 250kw-300?
  19. wow I hadn't seen that single turbo setup thread, that was amazing, and the end result, so clean, what a clean engine bay, I need that guy to help me! I'm convinced of single turbo setup now, cos by the time I mess around and install 2 newer turbos, quite a lot of work I might add, I may as well go 1 set further and do the whole hog. Hhhmmmm, now to find 3g.
  20. BG5 C I think, how can you tell the difference? It currently runs VF18 & VF19. I was thinking that the 23 & 24 combo but be a bit of a stretch. I'm just after something simple to do for the meantime, until the big end goes, I give it a couple years, then I might look at going to a single setup, ultimately this is what I'd like to do, but I've heard it is quite hard and expensive. Well the VF 25 & VF 27 combo is looking like a good bet at the moment. The TT setup won't run 2x VF 22's in parallel, doesn't create enough boost, I've already looked into it, you may as well go to a single VF22 setup.
  21. Hi guys, contemplating changing turbo setup on my 97 BG5 TT wagon, was thinking perhaps VF25 & VF27, direct bolt up, or go a step further and do a VF23 & VF24 setup (how hard do you guys think this would be? Direct bolt up or would it require more?) And of course the mandatory ECU remap. I'd be keen to know what you all think. Jonno.
  22. New coil packs, new NGK iridiums, removed bottom cat converter and muffler, ran 3" straight through pipe all the way to rear muffler, goes real well now, few goods pops, sounds like anti lag, not all that loud either which is a bonus cos I thought it'd be rediculous.
  23. yeah whenever is good bro, no rush don't want to put you out or anything. Number PM'd.
