  1. So here is my battery check report,

Alternator is charging properly, but CCA has dropped, also the positive terminal was heavily corroded so got a couple of new brass terminals and a new 530CCA Repco brand battery with 3 year warranty. didn\'t really have time to go hunting around but this should do the trick, pretty much straight replacement of old battery, so far have only changed the positive terminal, but will get the the negative side if it stops raining

so with any luck this is the end of my starting issues and i will get my old starter motor bench tested and hopefully it is sweet and then i have a spare :)

  2. yeah its just been replaced with another unit in the last couple of weeks, im going to give the poles on the battery a scrub tomorrow and change the terminals to new brass fittings and see if its an electrical connection problem, will also get battery checked to see if it is still working properly first before i fork out for a new one

  3. Ok so i had some issues with my starter motor got a second hand one off a member for cheap and had it replaced, all was good for a week, then a couple of nights ago when it was rather cold it started doing the same thing again

go to start car and starts cranking and then goes to clicking and will not start

being that i\'m parked on a slope i chuck it in gear, roll it forward a little and dump clutch. stop then try again, turns over.

this also resets my boost gauge as if power has been disconnected ( it is a multicolour gauge and resets to the first color in the sequence)

could this be a battery issue rather than a starter issue? or just the replacement starter also bung?

i had a look at my terminals today and the positive side looks to have some green corrosion on it so i am going to go pick up a pair of new terminals tomorrow and give the battery terminals themselves a sanding and scrub with a wire brush to see if cleaning any crap off them will help and also go see if i can get my battery checked to see if it is on its last legs

my windows, stereo, lights etc all still work fine my battery is a 500CCA Century job 55D23LMF is the code on it. no idea how old it is, maintenance free etc

    any thoughts?

  4. Just want to say thanks to F.F.Sltd for sorting my starter motor out today, and finding the reason for my code 66, melted vac hose, must have popped out of its clip and melted on the exhaust

back to running just like it should! Fuck yeah!

  5. Anyone in welly free Sunday arvo to put a starter motor in for me, i\'m to inept to do it myself, its going into a twin turbo BD5, box of Stoke Gold beer and some cash your way

    can come to you

  6. Cheers guys

i got home after my work meetings and found it pretty quickly, tricky bugger to get to with only some stubby needle nose pliers and screw drivers

but managed to eff around enough to get it off & swap it over, cleared stored codes and took it for a boost down happy valley to the 70k zone, got it through VOD and into parallel without throwing anything, here is hoping it is sorted for now! will pick up a couple of spares next time i am out at pick-a-part

And here is hoping that has fixed my Code 66 issue and leave me alone for a while longer :D

  7. ok so, i threw a code 66 the other day, all came back up and running after cycling key on/off am pretty certain it is the secondary BOV ceasing up - and talking with rick confirms this is most likely the case - going up hill at a constant load, loss of vac at approx 3.5k RPM

it was dark and i don't have a garage or driveway so its all roadside and couldn't see properly, but after i picked up some dinner, jumped back in the car and it was away laughing again no worries

    Soooo....

is there an easy was to get to the drivers side BOV with basic tools? i had a quick look and could not see it - OR is there anyone that can give me a hand to swap it over? i have my passengers side one from when i put on my GFB one and was working fine when taken off the car - just limited knowledge and tools!!!

basically i need to drive up to palmy after work friday night at about 2am for my grandmothers 80th birthday the next day so need to try swap them out - so ideally don't want to get caught with my pants down in buttfuck nowhere in the wee hours

any help is appreciated... and yes i used search to try find a diagram but to no avail

  8. not unless the bucket seats have seat warmers which i doubt they do and come with the wiring and plugs etc, i have V3 STI seats in my BD5, they are mint, bolt straight in, just have to swap the seatbelt stalks and sensor over, no power in them but small sacrifice really, comfort and how they hold you in your seat, as well as cool factor outweighs any cons IMO ;)

  9. yep, get lots of comments on em too! i had to roll the rear guards due to rubbing, not sure if you will get the same issue or not in the foz,

also pretty sure these only go up to 17" aswell. but yeah tonne of room back there, will see if i can get a side on view tomorrow when i get the car back

  10. here is the same rim 17x7 on my leggy, not sure what offset is though anywhere on the rim that would tell me?, stock brakes, but you can see there is a tonne of room behind them, test fitment would be best, if you were in welly you could try one of mine, if someone in welly with 4 pots is willing to check i guess we could find out

  11. Dropped it to Rick early this arvo for new Clutch Kit and gear oil change and flywheel skim, has found a front axle retaining pin broken, so he has sorted that, and a Gearbox mount "Chassis trap nut" ( no idea wtf that is) is fucked so is working on that issue at the moment.

with any luck will have it back by this time tomorrow ;D Can't wait
