  1. Im using Znoelli SP500 pads. Did a bit of research before getting them, they are a lot cheaper than other performance pads & ive found them to perform really well. They stop well when cold which is good for the street & get better once they are up to temp. Havnt been able to push them to failure on the street. Id recommend them with some motul fluid.
  2. sweet glad some ones used them before, not a lot of info around about them, especially for subaru's. Do you still run them or something different now?
  3. Any one running Neotech coilovers? What are they like for street/track? Was looking at BC Gold's for ver 8 sti but was told they tend to knock in the rears when lowered, was advised to get Neotechs for same price. Really after Tein Flex but they a bit more pricey, any one know a supplier for these that does club discounts?
  4. Haha thats what I like to hear! Sweet will check the offset & see how'l theyl line up, always confuses me trying to figure out the whole offset thing. Miller....what rims have you got?
  5. Thinking of getting a set of white 5 spoke DTM rims, only $899 for 17x9, thought that was a good price for a rim of that width. Will these fit on an 03 v8 GDB sti chassis? Also is the v8 sti 5x100 or 5x114.3? What size tyre do people recommend running with a 9 inch rim?
  6. Alastair at Macbilt provides great service, he does a lot of work on my subie. Had my last motor built by Kerry Lindsay, nice guy but build didnt really go smoothly, wouldnt go there again by choice. Id get the local boys to help you pull the motor then see if someone else can pull it apart
  7. Not sure on spring rates, just been looking at the BC Gold's on Redline Performance website. Looking at a replacement for current adjustables that are too hard for street use.
  8. Any one running BC Gold adjustables in a GDB? Whats ride quality like on the street? How do they handle on the track?
  9. Yeh would prefer to use genuine parts
  10. All good, will give Liam a call & ask, cheers.
  11. What was your quote mate? Will go through Liam aswell
  12. Whats the general price for cambelt kits? Have been quoted the following: Cambelt $171.30 + gst Tensioner $185.00 + gst Flat idlers x 2 $70.00 + gst each Toothed Idler $70.00 + gst Small Idler $121.00 + gst Cam Seals x 4 $17.00 + gst each Crank Seal $14.00 + gst Water Pump $222.00 + gst Does this look about right? Any one know a contact for discounted parts? Have also been told that the seals only need to be replaced if leaking, is this true or should they be replaced regardless?
  13. Gutted! I had a coupe stolen in wellington too. Insurance was a nightmare trying to sort out!
  14. The rear tires are leaking worse than the front. 10-15psi in the rear lost after 48 hours, front about 5psi. Rims are in good condition. Technicians at Tony's also confirmed the rims are fine. Might be a sign to finally ditch these heavy things & get something lighter & more practical
  15. Yeh they are sealing each time with that black tar looking stuff & troughing each rim which doesnt show any leaks so it seems the weight of the car is causing the leaks. Havent checked the valves so ill try that tonight but when I went back the second time it was leaking from the bead again. They advised the bead isnt damaged & the rims look fine so it shouldnt be leaking. Will check the valves & go back to them again if need be.
  16. I have a set of 20inch Advanti Cardiac chromes that have recently had the tyres flipped on the rim due to camber wear. Now they leak & wont hold tyre pressure. I have had Tony's Tyre Service check them twice & they have advised there is no damage to the bead & the chrome hasnt deteriorated or flaked off so the tyre should seal. they have resealed the tyre/rim both times & there is no leak when I left the shop then within 48 hours I lose 10-15psi. Any body had similar issues? Remedies?
  17. Macbilt skimmed my slotted rotors, $40 each. Got znoelli pads, set front & rear for $165 incl.
  18. Yeh had insurance thankfully. Still bad buzz getn ya ride stolen after youve put heaps of work into it. And the insurance investigation took 4 months so that was pretty stressful wondering if they were gona pay out. Didnt learn anything tho, shouldve got a safe nana mobile but got another subie haha. Moved houses tho to a less 'dodgy' part of town with a good alarmed garage.
  19. Yeh havent noticed any varius kits around, or the rest of the car, never heard anything of it since it was stolen. Guessing it was stripped & sold as parts. Likely someone wouldve got a bargain, had a fresh run in $8k forged short block.
  20. Any one know what the front & rear rotor size is for a version 8 sti spec C with 4 pot setup (non brembo)? Will check when I have the car back but would help if some one knows so I can order parts today.
  21. 2. Fitting of a larger VF34 turbocharger, inlet and exhaust efficiency improvement through port modification of the cylinder heads increases torque by 11N m (1.2kg-m) to 384N m (39.2kg-m), it delivers sharper engine response and improves power efficiency. Upgrading of ECU, VVT system and Camshaft profiles further increase engine power output by 28kW (37.53HP), to 234kW (313.65HP). Unique, fully forged ‘Spec C’ pistons are fitted to cope with higher compressor charge (1.5bar/21.76PSI). From DPI's post on page 3
  22. Agreed, just look at BT. Not a lot required engine wise to be competitive, few suspension tweaks, some decent rubber & you're away
  23. Just noticed this thread, awsome to finally get the run down on the different versions & pick n mix options. Have always wondered whats what with the different spec c's ive seen & the different options they have. Sounds like the v7 ra spec c is an animal, 1.5 bar is pretty up there for a standard car, especially with the weight of them. My v8 spec c came with the standard seats & door cards (no blue sti interior), 4 pots (no brembo), lightweight carpet, no spoiler, no boot light or lining, wind up windows front & back, DCCD, no air con but it has drivers airbag. Wouldnt mind the 234kw v7 spec c power in the version 8 shell.
  24. Any body know whats the deal with running AV gas on a standard tune?? Ive heard AV gas has lead in it & its bad to run in street cars? Is this true? If its safe to run, is there any performance gains to be made over running 98 BP Ultimate? Heard some people were running it in there subies for drag meets. I dont know anything about the octane rating of AV gas or whats in it or if you need the ECU mapped to run it so I thought id post it up.
  25. Ive had this happen in my old 95 wrx, was the airflow meter, got another one and it was fine. See if you can borrow one & test it before getting a new one.
