  1. Yeah sensors were plugged in, i managed to find a cambelt timing diagram...so will give that a go in the morning. It was probably 1-2 teeth off.
  2. Hey guys. So, I did my first Subaru cambelt change this afternoon. I removed and replaced waterpump while at it but had a huge trouble keeping the marks on the cam wheels inline and from moving, when i was replacing the offset pulley thing!! The marks were pretty close but not exact. Does this matter on Subarus? I started it dry, to test the timing and it sounded a little weird and wanting to cut out though im not 100% sure its not to do with the radiator, being on ramps and everything else i needed to remove to get to the cambelt. Any suggestions or tips would be awesome!?
  3. Soooo, do i need to drop the box out of the car to do this?????? :-\
  4. Hey guys! My gearstick in my legacy wagon is VERY sloppy though there are no other known issues with it(noise etc) i have been doing a little reading through the forums and realised it must be the bushes! I'm just wondering how hard is it too replace these and where i would buy them from? Cheers
  5. This might sound a riddiculous Q but i can't seem to locate where to put the trans fluid in my Ej20 manual wagon : anyone tell me pleeease?

  7. I agree re:VTNZ!! My NA wagon failed on overnoisy exhaust...the vtnz guy said they did not test it but it sounded to him too noisy...i said that magoos had tested it when put on and it was around 91db i took it back with the test and he still did not pass it...i went to a garage and pass!! The next WOF i took it to the WOF centre and it did fail i got a silencer welded on but it did little diff @ 98db sooooo off i went to the wreckers and bought a stock exhaust...disconected big bore and put the stock on and pass. If you wanted to be cheeky you could always reinstall the big bore then remove for WOF! My dubbie was also too noisy so i bought an adjustable 3' exhaust which i can adjust with a remote control...perfect for WOF or even if the police stop you and want to do a test!(not that i would do that )
  8. Thanks mate, i did this last night and the water kept going down...i filled it right up with water then took her for a 30 min run, bingo no overheating (as i touch wood) thanks guys, hope this is me sorted and it's not a H gasket !
  9. Would the airlock cause the engine to overheat, or just show on the temp gauge?? Also i there was about 500 ml-1litre out of the small water resovoir when i checked the water and while having a nosey underneath the car i noticed there was a wee bit of what seemed like fresh oil just behind the sump...though have found no oil marks on the driveway! What i'm kinda trying to figure out is if the head gasket has gone, doesn't seem like any water in the oil and car has only done 130 k
  10. Actually i dont think i did, i just drained the old radiator then replaced the new(well 2nd hand) one...do you think that could be a problem?
  11. Hi guys, i got the radiator fixed, which cost me 70 dollars for a second hand one but the engine is still overheating...well thats what the internal gauge is saying! The engine itself doesn't seem to feel too hot, though though the (rubber pipe) to the radiator feels hotter than usual! She doesn't seem to be using any water, and there is no unusual noises! Does anyone have any idea what may be the problem why she's overheating?? Cheers
  12. Annoying enough to get you to post though eh lol
  13. Yeah it does, thanks anyway mate!!
  14. Wiil a Turbo radiator fit a NA car...if so how much are you after for it!
  15. Hey guys, me again!! Yesterday while going for a drive in my Legacy i noticed the temp gauge going up, so i pulled aside and found water leaking from a small crack about 2-3cms long on the left side plastic part of the radiator. What i was wondering is if anyone knows if i can get either the plastic part seperately/repaired or does the whole radiator need to be replaced?? Cheers
  16. Thanks mate but was already in getting checked...and yeah dead alternator! Thanks guys for your help!
  17. Would have been good mate but really need it diagnosed asap
  18. Thanks mate, was just gonna pull the alternator off and check the brushes-then replace! but may just take it too an auto elec!! Cheers
  19. Yeah while i was driving! I drove around during the day no prob, but as soon as it went dark and the Headlights came on things started to play up after about 5-10 mins driving!
  20. OK so back to the drawing board...bought a new battery BUT my brand spanking new battery ran dead on me tonight and CEL light came on as it was dying, does this seem like a dead alternator and/or could it be something else?? Helps much appreciated!!
  21. After another 10 min run in my driveway and no CEL, i'm hoping thats what the prob is!!
  22. God shocking spelling lol know and specifically!!
  23. I checked but could not seem to locate the ecu or the connectors, a friend checked my codes when my WRX was having sensor probs so i have a reasonable idea what i'm looking for, anyone no specically where to find the ecu and/or connectors? I started the old girl up and had her running for about 10 mins with no CEL warning...fingers crossed nothing is seriously wrong, would be ashame to retire a usually reliable car!
