Have had the pad running for 2 days nonstop and it’s still happily sending can messages and key presses working. That’s with the wifi still active, which while is ok, it’s better to turn it off so the config can’t be changed.
Pick up laser cutting tomorrow hopefully so I can see what it’s like assembled.
The new 32 button one I wanted an extra PCB layer to make it tidy, but 4 layers are 30% more expensive than 6 layer boards, even at 15x25 cm. Around nzd$140 for 5, add shipping for usd$35.
Again the i try to put fuse, tvs and reverse protection are on the easier to access underside. The idea is things that die to protect the board should be easy to replace. Same with the larger capacitors which may have there own little access holes. So it just a hole with electrical tape covering them. Stops dust etc but easy to repair in the field. Even has a few solder pads for spare fuses which will be added,so you don’t need to find or order replacements.
