    GFB Pulley Kits

nah everyone experienced has told me the same thing with the pulleys + mine has been machined to balance with the rest of the engine components so it would be a waste. however the alternator and power steering pulleys could all ways be replaced

race car? i really want the pulleys on my car they would really finish off the engine bay quite nicely as the subaru ones are quite hideous, i just dont want to add any unnecessary risk to my life savings (in car form)

Nah not reali he just knows his shit.. well said 'dynofiend' id highly reccomend the lightweight flywheel, lightweight rims, removal of aircon, and even a carbon fibre prop shaft.. id do all of these before buying some pulleys

Yea sure, if your going to be racing on the track more than you will be driving on the road it is worthwhile, every little thing counts on the track. On the street people tend to be more concerned with engine life, and reliability

no. I said you will not notice the power gain or the throttle response.. And is this un-noticible difference worth the loss in engine life? When building my car i wanted to get the GFB pulley kit however Andre Simon suggested otherwise.. his words of wisdom.
  6. i used these back in the day when i had a Mercedes 430SEL de-sprung on 20" chromes haha i fitted BMW 20"s on a merc with them and had no problems duno what their studpatterns are

I wouldn't recommend using any light weight aftermarket pulley kit.. 1). You wont notice any power gains, or any throttle response increases 2). The heavy crank pulley that comes stock on your engine is there to help balance the crankshaft AND replacement of this item with a lightweight one will significantly shorten your engine life (Bearing Failure).
  8. Cheers Optical, i am busy with exams at the moment so i will let you pioneer.. Get back to me tomorrow with what you did and how successful you were!
  9. I have never actually removed a subframe before.. Does anyone know whats involved? level of difficulty? thread on another forum or any usefull information? Thanks
  10. i suppose i could use some lengths of 4x2 and some strops. a bit ruthless but would do the trick
  11. Koom, your way sound perfect! as i don't have an engine crane. Tell me do you have one of those braces that you strop the engine to? or where can i find one? Thanks alot Sam
  12. Ok so now my other problem.. how do i remove the 2 fittings that go into the steering rack? My engine and gearbox are in, and i have tuned length extractors so i can't remove the up-pipe. which means they are in an EXTREMELY hard place to get at! Anyone have any suggestions? using a crowfoot wrench? removing the steering rack with lines attached then doing it? Thanks
  13. woah. thanks for the help, definitely learned something! not going to take any chances I will use the factory steel line from the pump to the rack, and use Push Lock line from the rack to the reservoir (return)
  14. so if i used 300psi fuel line and hoseclamps it wouldnt be safe? im sure i have seen others running that set up
  15. Hey thinking of changing my power steering lines round.. Just wondering if anyone knows the approx pressure that the fluid is running through these lines? don't want to have a hose clamp fitting blow off and make a mess! Thanks
