congrats, is that a facelift my11 model ?
my11 wrx and sti already got major suspension upgrades.
for a daily i'd leave it alone.
no mention of tyres.
first handling upgrade should be decent tyres, which will improve steering, handling, braking.
-
it was a crime to re-badge the s-gt as wrx as they did in some markets like nz.
s-gt is wrx extra lite
the grb's didn't get good until the my11 revision which re-worked the suspension ( lower ride height, revised spring rates +15% front, +53% rear !, bigger anti-roll bars etc.).

thanks for the above info but you didn't answer the first question.
where are you sourcing your R7 from ?
also, are you a commercial business ?
$1200 for a grey import isn't saving much over nz retail.

I am selling both the Uniden R7 and R3 on trademe. But if you send me a message on here, or look me up on the radar forum, I can offer a much better price (due to high Trademe sellers fee). These are completely brand new, and come with 12m warranty.
Mine also come with our exclusive GPS databases which is the only one available for the R3 / R7 that includes all of the NZ cameras. This has taken many hours of development and testing with the help of many members on the Radar Detector Forum. => If people are keen to get either an R7 or an R3, I can supply them with shipping and better DB all at a lower cost than available anywhere else in New Zealand.
are you getting your r7 straight from the usa ?
what firmware are they running ?
will your r7 have segmented k-band ?
if i get one from you with us firmware do i have to stick to us for upgrades or can you mix 'n match with nz firmware ?
how much for a new r7 ?
do you have them in stock ?
thanks.

yikes.. at 1300 nzd rrp that's about twice of what the r3nz can be had for new! guess i'll chuck the r3 back on my monitoring list on TM
that's r1 price, r3 are ~$899
bought mine in january this year from radar direct.
happy to sell to here or off to tardme too.
there will never be a rhd version as the market is just too small.

geez and i thought my golf was expensive a few years ago at $2k.
for that a i got the whole shebang - new compressor, mixer, high pressure switch , coolant etc.
no need to take the dash out either.

😁
single flat bar wouldn't work in my froggy car, the seatbolt arrangement is very different.
bolts were a decent size but i've lost the torx key so the bracket is there for good

i've got the cheapo 1kg quell above (from mitre 10 or bunnings - don't remember) in a custom kap bracket from aus.
the quell is ok but the straps are nasty and sharp, and the metal tag rattles !

a new car shouldn't be this bad ?

Will be interesting to see if they mirror the R7's design for right-hand drive markets.
Having a display aimed at the passenger seat is kinda pointless
as likely as a rhd valentine 1

uniden r1/r3 /r3 are detector detector proof.
irrelevant in nz as detectors are legal and local cops don't use detector detectors.
just tested my r3 against the local fixed redflex polecam.
results were excellent !
in clear/slightly overcast conditions i got ~300m gps voice warning and ~200m radar alert in both directions.
superb results as these things are on tall, skinny poles that are easily missed by eye until too late.
why does your friend want a bel sti xr ?
they are old, old, old
wait a few months and you''ll see a flux of r3 as owners upgrade 😉

rain-x, regular wax, quick detailer etc all good on windscreens

newer detectors have improved sensitivity for nasty radars like the new redflex cameras (mobile and fixed) and improved filtering for blocking non-police radar like car anti-collison systems etc.
gps equipped detectors should have been updated with the latest fixed camera positions.
my car gps has the old positions for fixed cameras - as do gps escorts - updated maps plus retain old positions - a pia !
i've just updated my uniden r3 with the latest gps map - palmy has a new redflex fixed camera a few km's south of longburn on sh56.
the r3 gps gave me a good 10sec or so voice warning before the detector went off.
hardwired is good if you stick to one car, gets expensive of you fit out several cars with hardwired/hidden detectors.
portability is a bonus if you switch between cars.

nz had a similar model
iirc it was called the rx and used the wrx bodyshell with flared guards etc.
there was a special "motu" version too.
