  1. Hi, could be a number of issues causing this such as a fault/short with the ignition switch, sticking ignition immobiliser relay or a faulty after market turbo timer -if fitted. Best bet would be to have an AVS reseller or you local Auto Electrician check it over. https://avscarsecurity.com/installers/
  2. Hi everyone, looks like we had no notification set up for this thread, oops, fixed now. Yep, the contact at AVS is either Ben or Rachael. Ben has talked to Fabio so hopefully it's sorted (but let us know if not). Sounds like the alarm has been wired to the door light which is common practice for most cars however because of the proximity control with this vehicle it will need to be wired to each individual door switch circuit. That will prevent the symptom from happening even with the factory setting for the interior light.
  3. Hi everyone I just wanted to let you all know that I will be leaving AVS as of the 31st of October. Thank you for all your support over the years and AVS Car Security will still be supporting the club into the future. Ben will be your new point of contact and will be taking over the forum monitoring. If there is anything I can help you with before next Friday please let me know Regards, Brad

  6. Hi there. Is the siren working? (To test the siren just hit the panic button which is the right hand button on the torch remote or the horn icon on the waterproof remote. The siren should sound. Press it again to stop it.) If it's still working the chirps have just been accidentally programmed off. Give us a call on 0800 438 862 and we can talk you through programming the chirps back on. Or send me a PM and I'll give you the instructions - I just need to know if you have the torch or waterproof remote. Here's the link to the remotes page if you're not sure: http://www.avscarsecurity.com/remotes/
  7. Where abouts are you?? Flick me a PM and I will see what we can do Brad
  8. Hi DK Twice a day on a hot day is normal, but two times a week for it to false alarm is not good. You can back it off more if needed or move where the brain is mounted as it may be against something that has to much vibration coming through it. Do you know where it is installed?? Brad
  9. Hi DK Backing it off is the solution, that is why there is adjustment in the sensor as every car is different. It is set at 6/8 factory so the usual step is to back it off to 4/8 and see how it goes. Brad
  10. It is the pre warning for the dual stage shock sensor which picks up lighter impacts etc. What causes it to happen is parts of the car near the alarm expanding and contracting in the heat/cold and which causes small shock waves which the sensor will pick up when it is next to it. If it does once in a blue moon or even once a day I would leave it as is as it would be set as high as it can be for a security side and not false alarming etc. If it does it more often than two or three times a day and it annoys you then the sensor can be adjusted down a bit to make it a little less sensitive. Brad
  11. Give me a call on 09 476 8052 when your with your car and I can sort it for you Brad

  16. Hey G-Unit All most all insurance companies are going to want you to have a five star alarm fitted. This also means it MUST be fitted by an NZSA installer or the insurance rating is not valid. If you want I can sort you a good deal on getting an S5 fitted in your area 8) Brad
  17. Make sure you get registered if you have an AVS alarm to go in the draw or get one fitted if you dont! http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,21159.0.html This months winner is QYKCHK who has won a set of ultrasonics to further protect her car! Valued at $199 fitted Brad
  18. There must be an aftermarket module installed in your car to cause this I would guess. Done some research and does not seem any Subaru's have this option and it definitely i not the alarm as it does not have a speed sense input and none of our alarms ever have Brad
  19. From the AVS website: Data battery back-up siren A data battery back-up siren has its own back-up battery and charging system so it will continue to sound even if power is cut to it from the car (such as a thief trying to stop the noise by cutting the wires). The battery is automatically charged off your car’s electrical system. It also uses a data link between the car alarm module and siren rather than a simple trigger wire. This makes it much more difficult for a thief to bypass the siren. The Five Star AVS S5 car alarm, Four Star AVS S4 car alarm, and the Four Star AVS A4 car alarm all come with this type of siren. http://www.avscarsecurity.com/jargon/ Basically it uses an AC signal wire to control the siren much like CAN-Bus etc unlike Mongoose or Dynatron etc sirens which use either an earth or positive to control there sirens - very easy to bypass as a thief. Brad
  20. All AVS S Series and A4 alarms come and came with data sirens Brad
  21. AVS S5's have an option to lock the doors on ignition on, if the doors lock at a certain speed it is normally an OEM function as with alot of higher spec Toyotas etc, the alarm (AVS alarm) can not control that. The current AVS Special for Club Sub members is $549 installed Brad
  22. Firenza came into work today and we have sorted it all out. It was the onboard dual stage shock sensor causing the issues. From looking at the brain it would seem the wiring for the crystal of the sensor has come loose most probably from being installed and let to move around banging on the steering column. Another important reason for having the alarm installed in the correct location, the sensor never had a chance to operate correctly and has in this case caused damage. Brad
  23. Firenza, how long are you waiting after you arm it before you test it?? The alarm will not respond until the LED is flashing as it is in its settle down and measure mode before then. Brad
  24. Hey Ver6-Ra Sounds like whoever installed the alarm has left the siren in a bad location where water it getting to it so it will need to be moved to stop this from getting worse. The water will dry quickly with the heat from the engine bay but if it is not moved it will just get wet again. It can blow the internal battery which will cause all kinds of problems and it will have no battery back up which will invalidate the insurance rating (removing the battery will also invalidate any insurance rating). Best option is to go back to your installer and have them move the siren and inspect it while they are doing so to check for corrosion and internal damage and if it is damaged they should replace it for you. Data sirens are not cheap and are a big percentage of the overall cost of the alarm so it is best to look after them Brad
  25. http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,21159.0.html If you have an AVS alarm or not, make sure you check it out Brad
