1. We're sorta going through the same situation on Southern Skylines. Last year was our best year yet, we were getting 10-15 Skylines or more to every meet for about four or more months in a row (then came Winter). Forums have died down quite a bit recently, but hopefully it all picks up again soon. Main thing to do is to keep organising meets each month, otherwise you'll end up like ToySpeed Dunedin and die off (i could get it going again like i did back in the day but don't have time/petrol money etc).
2. Crash? That looks really really bumpy, but also a lot of fun - i'll make it to one one day! And Ray, i see you have the same problem as i did with i did a grasskhana in my GTS-4 - understeer/waiting for boost to kick in. Here's me, back at the Wings & Wheels a few years back: Only recently got both front CV's replaced - they pretty much fell apart in the guys hands. And the next year, 2009 i raced my GTS - in the wet...
3. Kinda hate how most/all events like this fall on Sundays as i work Sun-Thurs. And can only get a few Sundays each year off, stupid work. ;(
4. I won't be racing now. Can't really be bothered this year - and sounds like my girlfriend is entering her bike.
5. If my girlfriend enters her Skyline i'll be entering mine again this year, but if she enters her Ninja 600 then i'm just gonna be the support crew. Tracks not grippy enough even for my wee GTS - i was a second quicker in the Mosgiel drags.
6. Soooo, what happened? Only B4 2000 entered his car, making it the worst CS display i've seen.
7. Bearing in mind people that this isn't Autosalon - you may think your car isn't tidy enough, but then you cruise up on the day, see some of the cars there and then think "man, i coulda put my car in - its tidier than that!". I think i recall some cars even having mud on them?
8. Man, i'd just go take a photo in broad daylight - i've done it before. Surprised its taken this long for anyone to do so.
9. C'mon peeps, you got your entry form yet? Have to be in by 12th June! Details here: http://southernskylines.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=3348
10. Still got your Skylines shrug?
11. - Rang the ODT, they getting the chief reporter to take a look an the idea for a possible article. - Rang the DCC, they musing over the idea of us using the Tahuna Park showgrounds for the event/parkup. - Rang the Hospice, they saw the article in the Herald, are fine with the cruise name (Otago Community Hospice Charity Cruise) and even volunteered to e-mail me their new logo to use on the yet-to-be-made flyer. They also keen to have someone do a speech on the day if we end up doing speeches. Also rang a couple of other people and hoping to talk to Greg Inch one day to see how a big event like this is run. Need now to find out a cheap way of printing off a couple hundred flyers in time for the Autospectacular in July. Anyone got any contacts?
12. It would be a huge help if ya'll could spread the word around other forums and such, i don't really have the time and also don't have internet access at home (i'm at my partners place 20km from home at the mo, and i can't get here too often). Can copy & paste the below to make it easier. You may just have to make little updates every now and then as things get confirmed/changed etc. Might have to either remove the [ size ] coding or modify it to suit the forum you're posting it in, as some forums it may turn out really big or really small. Well since its all official now; Facebook group WHEN - Sunday, 21st November 2010 - Meet up at (location TBC) from 7:30am. Please try to be there by 10:45am at the latest. - Depart for cruise at 11:30am after a possible briefing. - Arrive back before 1am for (TBC) a BBQ lunch (which may not be free) WHY Aim of the event is primarily to raise as much money for the Otago Community Hospice as possible. http://www.otagohospice.co.nz/funding.html HOW By charging each driver a minimum 'donation' of $5 (higher amounts are encouraged if you can afford it) to enter the cruise, and also let participants have the option to charge passengers/members of the public to have a ride in their car for the duration. The passengers themselves will donate the money, so to prevent unhonest drivers pocketing half or more of the passengers fare (can never be too safe!). WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP - Come along in your car! - And also please try to spread the word in as many ways possible, this is what is gonna make or break a big turnout. Word of mouth is a powerful tool and we can easily get a lot of cars if a lot of people know about it! IS MY CAR ELIGABLE This is a hard one really. Basically, if its an exotic car (Lotus, Ferrari, Mercedes etc), muscle car (Mustang, GTO, Falcon, Camraro etc), classic car (Jaguar, Mini, Austin etc), hot rod or modified car then you'll be right. That includes FPV and HSV vehicles, all Mercs, Jags, higher specced BMW's and so on. If you've got a Suzuki Swift, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Accent etc with aftermarket wheels or anything else not factory/rare then its eligable too. And of course any Japanese sports car (Skylines, RX-7's, GTO's etc) is allowed, some even if they aren't modded. MORE INFO - Full article - Text/ring Andrew on 021 216 4593 - Reply to this topic (have to be registered at Southern Skylines) - Or send me a private message on these forums (have to be registered at Southern Skylines) Thanks a lot for your support and help.
13. Well i did go to them about it, and they were very good - bent it back, welded it with a few extra welds this time and off i went for $0.00. And now have a new WoF. 8)
14. Got an article printed in the Taieri Herald this week, gonna try take a pic of it and upload it.
15. Okay, the 4 coming off the dyno did get damage. Took it for a WoF just now and it failed on one thing (which i'm told it shouldn't have since its not a safety thing). The left front tow hook thing has been bent flat and broken the rivets too. Went to APET but they were shut, so gonna have to come back into town next Friday and show them. Chur.
16. We left after the R1 did its burnout so not sure if anyone else did a run, but heres all the cars that did - including my GTS-4... A31 Cefiro (running too lean) Lancer EVO II rally car Lancer EVO IV Lancer EVO VII Suzuki GSX-R 600 (ClubSub member) SKYLINE GTS-4 COMES OFF DYNO! Just happens to be my car... R32 Skyline GTS-4 After the tie down was replaced Yamaha R1 Yamaha R1 huge burnout (mmm, smoke) Turbo jet engine Lancer GSR Legacy B4 (ClubSub member) Mitsi Mirage sedan Mirage RR Nissan Navara Nissan Leopard pipe blow Nissan Leopard (take 2) R32 Nissan Skyline GT-R (400kw+) R33 Nissan Skyline GTS-25 (Southern Skylines member) S14 Nissan Silvia Toyota Supra RZ (400kw+) Toyota Supra RZ burnout My brother will hopefully put his Supra SZ on next time, and i'll put my R32 GTS on.
17. The R33 GTS-25 was another SSEer, but was disappointed with his dyno result. Should be making 190hp factory.
18. Ahhh, that was you then. I have vids of every car/bike that dynoed right up until the Navara, and will hopefully have them on YouTube tomorrow. My girlfriend was very tempted to go home and get her Ninja 600RR to see how it compared to you GSXR. Next time she'll prolly bring it along. My GTS-4 only got 119kw because it was missing/running on five and also running rich.
19. Facebook group made: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=106248699409876
20. Good reason for that mate, cos i haven't done anything about it until now. :-[ Mainly cos i've got no phone or internet. Gonna get the basic details sorted and online (will be on the main page of Southern Skylines tonight i hope) then will contact a reporter of the Taieri Herald (already talked to him before and he sounded keen), then will have a chat to the ODT. Want to get it in the free papers cos there will be people like me that can't afford or don't buy the ODT etc. This isn't just a club thing, i actually want to attract people who aren't in clubs as well. Pretty much want as many nice cars there as possible, like Ferrari's, Mercs, Mustangs, other classic American cars, HSV and FPV cars, Japanese cars obviously and so on. Try and unite everyone on this. Best free advertising we can get is word of mouth, so pretty much tell everyone you can, old and young. I will let the Police know too, their presence might make it seem more organised and official to the people who otherwise wouldn't come. IMO.
