  1. Auction next wed 16 march by the looks http://www.turners.co.nz/Damaged/Pages/Car.aspx?RefId=864039 if anyones keen.
  2. From what mates have told me its at Turners auctions in hamilton now, id say itll be going to auction in the next few weeks. Could be a chance for someone to score a parts car !
  3. Just thought id update that State insurance has been great to deal with, and paid out my settlement today, very happy. No more car loan finally and a decent amount left over so gonna put it to good use and get some property I think, maybe get another Sti in the future when it has a nice secure garage to be parked in! Last piece of the puzzle now is for the police to track down the thieving mongrels and throw the book at them.
  4. Have seen this for sale a few times. The main thing id be wary of is its an open deck Ej25 yes ? Which seem to not be geared towards high boost/power, they commonly eat headgaskets too as we know. If it was a semi closed then all good though, would be really torquey and spool a big turbo nicely. Looks mint though, wheels suit the shiny black paint nicely.
  5. I like your thinking mate ! It wouldnt surprise me if these dicks who took it were the same ones who took my car, Sub a roo isnt far from where I live either. Any unique bits under the bonnet, etc that could be onsold to watch out for ? Fuck I hate thieves !!
  6. s*** and I thought they were cheeky taking my car in the night, but broad daylight outside their premises ?!!?? Thieiving bastards, will keep an eye out, its quite uniquely identifiable this car.
  7. Haha na not another V8 sadly, maybe one day in the future, but gonna use this as an oppurtunity to get something cheap and hopefully buy a house in the near future. If I get another Suby itll most probably be a GC8 Type R or RA. Also will be enquiring with insurance co to see if I can buy the car back for a good price and part it out, if they want to much though wont bother.
  8. Insurance assessor called this morning to confirm its written off, quite glad actually there's no way I wanted it back after seeing the state it was in. So if anyone wants a V8 sti for parts itll presumably end up at turners for auction. Only thing now is wait for the payout and also for the cops to nab the thieves then all will have ended well ;D
  9. Id say thats most likely the case. Havent confirmed its a write off, just what the repair place the assessor has sent the car to thought.
  10. Sure did give names, but couldnt get the spelling of them, am going to see if I can get the names again, they actually called at midnight friday whilst I was in a bit of a drinking session with friends, so my brain wasnt in remember mode haha. As far as insurance goes, it could be a write off according to the repair place as all the chassis codes/build plate/VIN has all been removed, which apparently is quite a hassle to rectify ? Not sure though will hear this week the fate of the car. But yea stoked they have names and faces to match the prints, will be great to see the bastards nabbed for this.
  11. Another update, police called last night to say they've matched 3 sets of prints off the car to 3 people already on file ! Stoked ! Was given names to see if I knew who they were, but they were people Ive never heard of, and even better is identical prints found on the rims left in the boot of the car were also all over the B pillar and drivers door handle, so sounds like they most likely have the offenders sussed. Now they just gotta track them down for questioning, and hopefully theyll end up going down for it. Good work police !
  12. Also I reckon GPS tracking, stealthily installed with no stickers etc is the go. If I get another decent value car I will most definately be going that route.
  13. Cops chased it round town from what they told me, then the offenders flew into kenney cres in fairfield, ditched and did the runners. You might of seen it at Ideal last year, I put it on their yard for sale on behalf, absolutely no interest though so decided to hang on to it. Claim has been approved now, has to be fully checked over for damage before they decide to repair or write off. Interesting, they have taken the chassis codes/VIN plate off, dont they do that s*** when rebirthing cars ? The repair guy said it could make things difficult with those bits being removed from it. Theres alot of bits thatll need replacing, interior and exterior, tyres, damage to wheels, not gonna be a cheap fix up whatever way it goes. But yea covered in gravel dust, tyres down to the wire even, so wouldnt surprise me if it had been out raglan way. Managed to turn it on to IGN to check odo reading, its done 500 odd km since i last drove it. Oh and it was in a carport, suck thing is I usually block it in with the work van - but no doubt that would of been taxed too if it had been in the way :
  14. They smash the monsoon off so they can pull the window out, or stick something down the top. So they knew at least a little bit what they were doing. Ultrasonics will often trigger when people try this... but often they're at the front on the dash or top of the pillar which is why the mongrels go for the back windows. In a poobaru, consider installing them at the top of the b-pillars... Did your car have stickers on it saying what the alarm brand was? If you want some alarm 'forensics' PM me and I'll see if I can tell you how they did it. I thought that might of been what they did, but still is there a way to pop the door open without letting the door switch trigger ? Cause if they could do that then I can see how very easy it was to get in, just not setting the alarm off is the only hurdle. Have PMed as well, cheers.
  15. Na no windows were broken, but the monsoon shield above the back drivers side door was broken off for some reason.
  16. Yea have also installed alarms, and yep definately easy ay once you find the module, just bridge them out, which is why im thinking I should of put some kill switches in for fuel pump and ignition circuits. My question is how did they get into the car/move it without triggering the alarm ? Stil stumped at trying to figure it out.
  17. Spoiler most likely removed to disguise it, too bad its stil easily recognisable with black lip, meshed spotlight cover for CAI, silver enkei wheels, carbon heat shield above the muffler, etc. But on that note, anyone who sees a cheap genuine V8 Sti spoiler for sale let us know via PM, reward still offered if it leads to the culprits being caught and hopefully convicted. Also, with the wastegate hose off, I was meaning no pressure source to the actuator, which free boosts it effectively, did it my self just to test if i had a actuator issue way back when I bought it. Probly not so much 1-3rd gears, but higher gears it went way past 20psi. Ideas of dedicated track car, reshelling the entire drivetrain(engine/brakes/box/diff/ecu and loom - the works) into a type R 2 door, and such have crossed my mind, but ultimately waiting for the insurance co to decide whats happening, so once they get back to me can negotiate the options. Parting out is the last thing I wanna do as il lose massive amounts of money, and with money still owing on the car Id rather clear debt and have cash left over. Will see what the next week brings.
  18. Yep sure is, but IMO the alarm was well installed. Have heard you can get remotes that learn the alarm code and disable it that way ? Mate said a car audio place who did a big sound install for him had such a device(their magic black box they called it). So im starting to think something similar was used to disable the alarm, they then broke in, busted the ign barrel and consequently the steering lock mechanism, then pushed it onto the road, towed it away, spent sunday day unwiring and removing the alarm, then screwdriver to start it and off they went. I cant think of another way to bypass the alarm at all, at least easily without sounding the siren for at least a short amount of time, unless theres some trade secrets these f***ers know about. Will remain a mystery forever id say.
  19. Your right there mate ! Should of bloody swapped for your Leggy after all haha !
  20. Just an update, cops have got prints off the car so hopefully they nab these bastards. Still waiting for insurance to sort out what theyre doing. In the meantime Ive had a look over the car to see whats missing etc. Also noticed under the bonnet wastegate unplugged so no doubt freeboosted to shit The whole alarm looks to be gone so they must of unwired the whole thing the cunts. Also my wideband setup is stripped out, but they left the wideband sensor in. Also the whole stereo is gone, sub/amp, headunit, tweeters, etc. Drivers side dash and steering surround all smashed and cracked. Ah well can only hope they get caught. And definately gettin GPS tracking next time as well.
  21. Haha good sugestions, would love to torture car thieves SAW style. But yea gutting as, have always felt sorry for ppl that lose mint cars from theft, now have experienced first hand and it sucks big time. Penalties for crime like this needs to be made way harsher, no wonder the f**kers keep on doing it. And will def be demanding rebuild of mechanical bits, id say the engine will be half stuffed, same with clutch and gearbox. Also, me and my brother are keen to pay a reward (a grand or two, not much I know but might be enough for someone to come forward with info)to anyone with any info that can lead police to nabbing the mongrels, and hopefully put them in jail where they deserve to be.
  22. Woke up sunday morning to find my pride and joy Sti gone without a trace from my place in Dinsdale, Hamilton. Thought it would be long being stripped for parts until the police ring me at 3am this morning to say they've just been in a pursuit accross hamilton chasing the damn thing(aparantly having a hard time keeping up too, car was driving over kerbs and s*** as well according to the police) then ditched in Fairfield somewhere, with the offenders long gone. Went to inspect it this arvo at the tow yard, looks thrashed to s***, cant touch it yet until prints been taken, so dunno extent of mechanical damage, theres oil or something sprayed up in front guard and up side of the car, which doesnt look good. Almost makes ya cry seeing something you work hard and long for to get and just turned into a thrashcar overnight. Has a few parts stripped incl stereo, sub and amp, ignition and alarm ripped to bits, back tyres look stuffed(from drifts and skids id say) and covered in dirt from the looks been rallied up a gravel road. Dont even want the car back at all, but will see what insurance say. Was stolen without a sound as well, bypassed the AVS 5 star alarm even, no idea how they managed to it so easy, makes an alarm pointless to me now. Definately considering whether to even bother with cars anymore, maybe should take up another hobby that doesnt carry the risk of this sorta s*** happening. But anyway end rant, heres a couple of pics. BEFORE AFTER BEING STOLEN AND JOYRIDEN
  23. Version 8 Sti here, just a catback exhaust, and around 20psi tapering to 15ish at redline.
  24. Can be reflashed with free opensource software off the net...IMO dont go ECUTEK, instead get it done with Opensource tuning - cheaper, easier and you dont get your ecu locked unlike with the ECUTEK method.
  25. Mmmm drool, some nice bit of kit there
