  1. Bg legacy wagon Currently got a V3 WRX (maybe sti) rear diff which i pick up off someone on here. My problem is that it constantly spins one wheel so i get stuck everywhere when my car 3 wheels. Im currently looking at welding up a diff so - Can i only weld up an open diff? Or could i weld up my v3 diff? Also could i put a diff from an rs legacy into my car? The one with the stub axles. Would that mean i wouldnt have to drain the diff oil to remove it everytime? Also would the axles be stronger/easier to replace? Anyway im looking for a new diff so if anyone has got anything? Maybe a plate type(if they are the best before welded)
  2. Was thinking of doing alot of servicing etc in an effort to make it better so will try that. But what i think is my biggest problem is my ecu is from an auto because i manual converted this car. I made a post about getting a manual ecu because of the fuel maps or whatever but no response.
  3. So ive got a ej25 manual bg legacy and been getting pretty average fuel economy. For 55 litres (full tank) of 98 octane. Around town = 330kms max Open road = 480kms max Bare in mind my around town driving is changing gear at 2.5k-3k revs and coasting downhills Is this type of economy good for a n/a because i feel i could get better with a turbo subaru Also any way that can help fuel economy? Upper cylinder clean maybe?
  4. So anyway i just wired my switch direct to the ignition and now it starts like normal
  5. Yea its rwd and nah dont have a sedan. Running adapters so got the bros gtsts on it while i find something decent for the rear
  6. My dirty subi from auckland
  7. Basically im looking for easiest and cheapest option. Now i know the twin turbo set up is averageeeee so how much harder would the wrx engine swap be? Would it mean a complete rewire for the link?
  8. Ok so im looking for a new car and have stumbled across a clean grandwagon but im also looking at gt/gtbs for the turbo power. My question is if i brought the grandwagon and wanted to drop a full gtb set up in it, would it be easier to buy a donor gtb and swap everything including all motor, ecu, manual gearbox looms into the grandwagon. Would this work? Or how else would be another way of doing it? Cheers
  9. Ive manual converted mine and heard that manual ecus have different fuel maps which could be the reason my car isnt so good on gas
  10. I am needing a ej25 manual ecu for my bg9 but they are rare to come by. So would it be the same if i ran a ej20 manual ecu from a non turbo bg legacy?
  11. yea i think that one looks terrible because the BF arent so round shaped. Ill keep doing research and see what happens
  12. Ok so ive got an interesting idea of putting a gf8 front lights, bumper, grill, guards on the front of my bg wagon. I presume that subarus should all line up but maybe i need to change the bumper bar? Any ideas?
  13. Oh sorry i was thinking that plug was one from the automatic gearbox loom and was bridging that. I will try again with ecu plug when i get time. Fingers crossed thanks guys
  14. so i tried just connecting the two wires together and no result. From what im reading do i need to connect the wires together but somewhere in the join it has to be grounded to the firewall?
  15. Good luck mate i spent maybe 2 weeks straight looking for a ecu pinout with no luck. im surprised there isnt a information site with stuff like that for subarus. i did email subaru direct and they sent me what i think is a ecu pinout in japanese though and can upload if that helps and know someone japanese haha. So maybe i cut the wires just before they get to the plug and join them together and see what that does?
  16. Ok so now what do i do which these 11 and 12 to?
  17. I was going to try connect my "custom" switch into the ignition barrel but didnt really want to mess with them unless i had full knowledge. I also just found this on the net. " In the automatic cars, the inhibitor switch, which is located in the transmission, keeps the car from starting unless the gear selector is in park or neutral. In the automatics pins 11 & 12 on the B15 connector are the pins that are connected to the IG-1 ignition circuit, and starter relay." Basically when i converted my car i did none, absolutely no wiring additions to the auto wiring/ecu. So basically it could be anything.
  18. So ive done some reading around and turns out its a bleeding screw with a O-ring that normally breaks or else the plastic screw crack from old age/heat so im gonna replace that before i replace the radiator
  19. any pictures on before and after? i might give it a go on mine
  20. Ok so halfway through last year i manual converted my bg9 2.5l and kept the standard auto ecu + wiring. I tricked the car into thinking its in park but connecting the park switch permanently. The car wouldnt start with the key, everything lit up, fuel pump etc but just nothing as soon as i turned the key to start it. So in hori fashions i bypassed the starter relay and connected the starter motor straight to a switch located next to my steering wheel. That was a temporary fix so i could atleast drive my car but its been working good since then. But now i want to see what you guys think is involved in getting everything working normal again and able to use my key. I was thinking just plug in a manual ecu perhaps? Any ideas would be great
  21. Hey guys I got a ej25 bg9 legacy non turbo. My coolant seems to be disappearing and would normally run out after 1 week. There is a little valve type thing on my radiator which i think seems to be the problem. Terrible photo but i had previously siliconed it to prevent coolant from coming out but seems to be still slowly coming out. If its not this then ill get my coolant system pressurized to see where its going. No noticeable wet spots before or after driving on the ground. Not completely sure if its blown its headgasket as the only signs it would have is water disappearing.
  22. Looking ti buy some ej25d rocker cover gaskets preferably aftermarket. Oem subaru charges abit too much for me to fork out so where else could i find some? Im in auckland
  23. Yip rwd bg9 2.5 n/a so not exactly a powerhouse to spin the wheels lol I was gonna link that video in because that exactly what it feels like so as soon as i feel it i clutch in to stop it. Ok so my best bet would be for nothelane diff bushes/mounts? Ill give a try above 5k revs or else just straight off the limiter haha
  24. Ok so if i drop the clutch on the spot to try do a standstill burnout, the rear wheels hop like they are grabbing traction but shakes the whole car, i havent tried dropping the clutch off limiter yet but im thinking it only hops because im not giving it enough revs? Is there anyway to get rid of this? As im sure this will blow diff/axles quicker I have D2 Adjusties all around and is set up quite stiff due to low ride height, would this be the problem?
  25. Sweet as so they do work on subarus? i was thinking on getting some for my rwd bg
