  1. Its a subaru ;) Just start it. Let it idle for 15 min. Then take it for a run. Note any codes and go from there with fluid changes etc ;D i.e Give it a good service i have done this many times. one i did had been sat for 5years :o Engine fired first try Is still running ok too!
  2. re boot computer. If its done more than 150,000km, Replace knock sensor too.Set of plugs as well.Air filter? ;D
  3. you only need one reg for your fuel control even if you do split rail fueling
  4. de capping is probably one of the most stupid ideas/action one can do : : : :. Correct atomisation is crucial for high horse powers Merely squirting fuel into the cylinder is not good for your motor best way to increase volume is to increase the fuel pressure 8) most injectors will flow about 30% more at increased pressures. up to around 80 to 90 psi (5 to 6 Bar) Yes there is a limit to what will flow at a given pressure. infact once 100 psi (7 bar) is achieved even if you double it again (pressure) most injectors will not flow any more volume However the atomisation is fantastic ;D
  5. Personally i would have said to him "Call the cops mate" in a nice even tone. :D Then sat on the floor in the showroom and waited for them to arrive. :( You had done nothing wrong after all so in all likely hood he would have been advised not to waste police time ;) In fact might just go an visit him myself ;D Car sales guys hate me anyway. I just love winding them up too! :D
  6. Having just had a re read and seeing your answer to my"what does it drive like" question My best guess is the Knock sensor ;D....Yet again! : Replace it and re boot the ecu.
  7. rear wheel bearing issue when under cornering load the drum rubbs the backing plate when bearing is worn. Not always picked up by the wof man due to its assembly methods. Can you hear a slight roaring of wheel bearigs whe sat in the back at 100k? ??? Also may not be noticable. However noise will change when bearings are replaced ;)
  8. count the number of diff gears through the bottom drain hole.....easy from there! ;D Think it is a 4.444 though
  9. Engine breathers all conected this can allow extra air into intake system through the pcv. Does sound like air leak issue. Also check the brake boost system for a leak. Does it go ok when being driven?
  10. It could possibly be done Heard a guy up here in auck was going to try it. A wagon would probably be the best. Two Fwd gearboxes. Both engines facing away from each other,Rear engine gearbox flipped over (somehow) to provide forward drive. If two 4wd gearboxes were used you could "gear" the two together to achieve linked 4wd. Gearchange with pneumatics. Even with both engines facing forward it would prob fit in a wagon Just hard to "link" mechanically Interesting concept. If its not been done? A kiwi just might do 8) 8)
  11. Translink is cost effective Covered wagon too so it arrives nice and clean on the train.
  12. Clever stuff Expensive beyond reason :o. Am of the opinion you get what you pay for but there are limits. Oh well good luck to them Is used on the space station, So cost will become sensible at sometime. It must work too! Tranport into space is not cheap to your $80,000,000,000,000 Spacestation. So using stuff that does not perform does not happen. ;)
  13. Thanks, :) Maybe this could go into the gadget manual area. There must be a few unidens fitted to Subarus
  14. Have just had a remote fail on my uniden. Fortunatly i had an operational spare Replaced battery in faulty unit but still no go I assume the remote is faulty as the other one is working ok. I have a spare uniden remote but i have no idea how to recode remotes so that i have two again ??? I know you have to turn key on/off in a sequence, push a button so many times or hold it in, then look for the correct flashing indication etc. ??? : ??? Does anyone have the instructions? The car did not come with alarm instructions. Its a uniden something. No idea of model number.
  15. Crikey :D As suspected A :D No problemo
  16. Yes! got off one because the cop car did not have a current WOF. ;D ;D I always check them over just like they check you. Further Yes! you will get off if the radar thingy or laser unit is not under current 12 month calibration. This also applies to their speedo if they followed you and tracked your speed. :o But you must ask at the time. ??? They will not send info to you later.
  17. If that mount is breaking check for a broken engine mount as well often the case. easy to setup a solid one too. Use the bushes in the damaged plastic one and mount in a piece of 25 x 5mm flat bar and weld in place. ;)
  18. Line one of their blurb says it all Bearing failure is due to lack of oil. Good design of mains though. To prevent bearing failures:- Ensure ample oil flow for achieved Rpm. Simple High priced designer race bearings are not required for high outputs. Any bearing that contacts the journal will fail :\'(
  19. Put a cage in one Then go and win diesel/Hybrid class in Rally NZ ;D ;D ;D Given the huge torque available from electric servo motors it would probably be a competitive vehicle too! Sponsors please PM me ;D ;D
  20. This is what I did on my BF5. R180 diff and correct CV cups. Retro fitted front axles to rear. (Splines are the same for outer cv match on BF5 R160 single pot brake hubs) Inner cage and balls out of the inside front CV from a Std BF5 fit the R180 cups. Have since gone to 2 pot R180 rears. ;D
  21. I reckon all is ok. 105 stable on the top hose. Thermostat will only open to maintain req operating temp.Lower hose temp will vary with load and road speed. Dash indication also ok Fans do operate in diagnostic mode. Not losing coolant. So what is the issue ??? Beyond me ??? ???
  22. Oh True : Missed that one. Sounds like cooling is so good fans do not need to come on. If infact both work with diagnostic plugs connected. One fan could be faulty. As no fan with aircon on Why do you think it is overheating? Could be faulty indication on dash? 105C good temp for INLET to radiator (Upper Hose)
  23. OK if no fans running and there is power at the plugs then its fans that require replacement ;) Assuming there is a good electrical connection at the 3 pin plugs on each fan. ;D
  24. LOL Easy As A? ;) Ten min job? Esp when you have one for sale! ;D ;D ;D Have to say though. 6 speeds are a great box! :)
  25. Are you getting voltage at the fan plugs? Yes fans controlled by ECU. Two temp sensors Are in the top water rail across the top of the engine. Usually you will get a code if its the sensor, also other engine smooth running issues. A signal is sent from ECU to the fan control relays in the box beside the washer water bottle. There is one relay for each fan. Check relay operation and signal too each with a multimeter. Does sound like ECU fault though.
