  1. i dont bother locking mine tbh. if they want to open the door to pat my staffy pitbull who likes sitting in the drivers seat while im out then so be it
  2. Cool. Cheers Timmah. I dont fancy gettting a cert for $200, it passed a vtnz wof a few months back so I assume it must be ok
  3. Im sure guys here have been pulled up for an exhaust too noisey? Anyone been pink stickered for sound from the muffler? I know if your car in its original state always was shall we say loud, then this is acceptable by law, if youve modified the exhaust and its found to be too noisey youll be ordered to restore it to an acceptable level. Are most modified big bore exhausts on a suby anywhere near the sound limits?
  4. No matter what I spend on my rex, itll never come close to what I spent on my ex of 7 yrs I can guarantee you that much. however I am sure every guy on here including yourself knows this one
  5. ooooo yea i forgot about tyres. $1600 I figured it would get a few people googling \'how to tie a noose\' if they made an honest assessment of total up keep for their babies. However itll give suby wannabe owners a chance to really get an idea of what they are in for with a performance car. Vs a corolla
  6. I have had this one for only 3 months. Not counting the buy price, I am already up to a grand! But shes running super nice finally, and im enjoying it until the next rattle happens
  7. When are these night wars? And where abouts? Youll have to excuse the ignorance here
  8. This is what I found a few minutes ago (see markys comments below) when I was looking at this forum question, got in my delorean and went back to the future to adjust my answer. The vf 25 26 and 27 in the majority of b4s are identical primary & secondary, th vf 27 is bb centre, otherwise all three use identical wheels only difference is housings But yea, I just know with my b4 there was a flat spot and drop in the mid range which was quite annoying. Like it was some old man stopping for a drink stop in a 100 metre sprint.
  9. im not sure it pulls as hard as an sti, my b4 doesnt come close to my wrx in acceleration in any of the ranges, however the legacy primary turbo is smaller then the secondary so yes it should pull harder in the higher revs. I found with the TT there to be quite a lot of lag in the lower rev range, then its a small primary turbo, then theres more lag between the two turbos in the mid range before the second turbo kicks in. Just my thoughts, still a real smooth ride the legacy, you aint bouncing around so much on the highway and nor does it attract the attention of any holden or ford driver (or not as much) as the rex
  10. I replaced my right rear shock. Touch wood that is all I need to do for a while. To go along with my picture of best customer of 2013 to date at the local mechanics
  11. yea. it seems the best way is to have your car fully insured. Theres an alarm installer called obsessive security i think that says he will pay for your excess if you use one of his alarms and your car gets jacked anyone got one of those gear lock things installed? ive seen them on trademe wondered how easy it is to rip out. Assume it will stop the joy riders like a wheel lock would, but the pros would get through it in a minute with a simple angle grinder or what not i know this link has been posted elsewhere. and bare in mind the paragraph about it taking longer for insurers to obtain the information they need should you car be nicked thus delaying payment, however you can make it tougher to obtain your address from a car registration. And you never know what contacts these guys have in order to find out vehicles for order type. No we arent in a gone in 60 seconds episode but it seems subarus are very sought after for the chop http://www.nzta.govt.nz/vehicle/registration-licensing/information-who.html
  12. On the note of security. Is there a thread out there with all the safest spots to park around each city? That would be handy to know what places have cameras. For the Wellington visitors, my v3 STI was taken by a tow truck from underneath wellington stadium. No cameras there, no glass, fully alarmed. Not saying its not possible a guy got in without smashing a window, seemed like tow truck was the way as there are no arm barriers there and all the workers park there so you dont have much foot traffic at all going through, anyways, car was gone burger when i got out
  13. Make sure you park this one off the street if you can. Out of sight out of mind. Dont need to tempt fate
  14. Yea I agree. I am going to get a couple and give them a whirl. Now all I need to do is find a stockist in Wellington or even better the Kapiti Coast!
  15. Its great to see such opinions on tyres Because you can walk into any tyre shop and they will give you one opinion and yet they dont drive what you drive, they dont know the balance of your car or the set up, when you have a resource of knowledge from guys on here driving what you are driving (sort of - ie wrx, gtb, whatever), nothing like real life experiences
  16. Advertised on trademe: 2000 WRX, Full body kit, scoop bonnet, big bore, wrc blue Just a story from years ago. I was going to buy a wrx bug eye, year 2000, turned up at night and went for a test drive... asked him the question \'how is she on fuel?\', he turns to me and says \'mate... when you buy a car like this with this sort of power, you are going to use some fuel\'. I never gave it any throttle to feel the boost, as he was clearly protective of his rex. Sorted a price, drew up a bank cheque. Even AA inspected it and compression tested it. Just before I was to do the transaction something bugged me about it all, I never saw \'turbo\' on the ad. I rung up a few garages and some mates assured me if its WRX its the turbo model. But I had to ask. Luckily, the guy said \'non turbo\'. I didnt take the car, but the guy was completely lying by omission as the car was fully decked out and the way he was talking sounded like he was running 25+ psi. Lesson learned, no questions a dumb question, especially as it saved me from making a 12 grand mistake
  17. If the dccd is locked up or a bit tight whats the outcome of this? And a solution... Yes its an ra
  18. it probably does it at high speed however I can not hear it but... when i reverse and turn the wheel, the rear back wheel feels like its popping. Almost as if one of the wheels in the back grips for a moment and then releases that is what it feels like. I could be mistaking this for a clicking sound ie CV. Cant hear any bearing noise Any thoughts? Sorry modifiers. I was not sure what forum to put this in...
  19. Anyone know of a place that sells them in Wellies/Kapiti or the Hutt? I will ring around a few Kuhmo places to see if there are any or if they can import them
  20. Im glad a few of us have the same opinion on the kingstars. They perform ok in the dry, in the wet frickin horrible
  21. Yeah, I mean it probably is me, but I found them awfully slippery. But im trying to get used to the balance of the car in and out of corners
  22. and how good are kingstar tyres (k106). They came with the car and Im waiting for the tread to burn off obviously before replacing them.
