  1. heres one being wrecked, cud be non 'B" spec http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/subaru/interior/auction-490901246.htm, simply ask if teh shocks are bilsteins or not, if not they are bound to be softer. As i said, later revision GT'B's (BP5b & BP5c) will have slightly softer Bilsteins, non 'B' spec models (regardless of revision number) will not be bilsteins & are bound to be softer.
  2. just see if you can borrow some 17 wheels and start from there...
  3. I hv read It's the damper on bp5a shocks that are ridgid, not the springs..
  4. u cud find a club member near you and swap out the 17" wheels as a test to see if the ride is better i reckon the BP's cud look alright on v7 STI gold rims
  5. thats not silly either, coz if you dont like them you can swap back, but yea.. quite a few ppl will like the harder ride so you maybe able to find a couple of ppl interested. I believe the later ones have atad more body roll.. but nothing to make you car sick lol
  6. so thats a BP i take it? if its a BP5a.. they are renound for having a harsher ride, i.e. stiffer damper, later revisions (B C) were indeed softer but the downside was more body roll. I just tell the missus its a sports car.. deal with it lol i guess a fix to try is to watch out for and buy later model suspension (from a B or C) otherwise yud be stuffing around with the unknown wasting $$ trying to get it right
  7. got a warrant for the BG, exhaust noise level is 82dB ;D
  8. on my mates car: engine out last night tonight: stripped manifold readied for split fuel rail mod stripped str mtr ready for overhaul stripped alt ready for overhaul motor picked up sent to Chris West's ex mechanic radiator dropped off for professional flush n new tank walbro purchased silicone hose kit purchased tomorrow: sandblast manifold, drop off to powder coaters ye old garage has seen this all too often in other news: qiksti fitted a VF30 to his type R, cant stop raving how good his car is now! ;D Do a garage thread Phil! its subaru city and i am the mayor!
  9. haha, nah this is easy as pie.. i just did qiksti's type R too, i.e. motor out all the same work bar the new shortie, his one is running wickedly now! the typr R has 170kms on it
  10. Not my car but started pulling the engine out of my mates 97 v3 STI GF8 (the guy that won the cheap brand new v7 short block on TM) i am pulling the engine, stripping it and a mechanic that used to work on Chris West's rally car here in Timaru is doing the assembling of the new long block etc. Actually Nick (my mate) is Chris West's cousin I will recon the str mtr and alternator, do the split fuel rail mod n get mani powder coated and refit the engine once the mechanic is done with it. other stuff: Full cam belt kit, clutch (maybe) radiator flush n new tank, silcone hose kit, walbro, K&N flat panel, maybe siamese down pipe. Initially had a over heating problem that the last owner negleted to tell Nick ... douche! Will be a sweet ride when done, car has 160kms on it.. pretty stock otherwise. ENgine will be out tonight, one bolt left to do
  11. the whole reset process resets all the stored signals..the throttle pressing is only part of that process & purely does the TPS you need to plug the plugs in, do the throttle pressing then go for a drive over 11kph (no boosting) untill light either flashes code or flahes the all clear. That is the TRUE process to reset the ECU for ALL sensors bettery disconnects have never done it on any car i have owned
  12. ahh yip, so you go for a drive withe them connected etc? (the throttle thing is for the TPS resetting)
  13. we just had the exact same prob on qiksti's car.. two man probs 1) a hole in the intake pipe under manifold where they all perish by the turbo.. and 2) the AFM was crook the code was 24 which is actually quite a generic code whereby it cud be a number of things.. but a crook AFM made sense.. although the code was not saying AFM. But if you chuck another AFM on you must reset the ECU, otherwise you wont know when or if you fixed it, as stated do this everytime you change a sensor so it forgets the old corupt signal settings, this restting allows the ECU to relearn teh new (correct) signal settings
  14. lets ECU relearn/recalibrate the TPS signal..
  15. How r u resetting ecu? The right way is plug in both green n black plugs, turn key on engine off, push throttle pedal right dwn for 3 secs then bak upto half for 3 secs, release, then go for drive n stay over 11kph until engine check light flashes the all clear or displays a code. No boosting while doing this, infact i dont think you are meant to go over 40kph. If an issue is curent the code will show, take note of the code, if all it was all clear... you are sweet. Pull ova turn off engine n unplug plugs, your ECU is now reset. drive away see if problem persists. This must be done every time u replace a sensor.
  16. Hah yea, Only ae86.... Got Nissan engine Rx7... Nissan engine lol
  17. nothing on car but took my 2 y/o son to drift event at Levels raceway, bloody good fun and some wicked cars... friggen nissans every where lol
  18. lights, smoke, flames, music, hot chicks, fast cars, Horse power, strope lights, G-strings, bewbs, dirty girls, sponsors, labels, douches, wheel barrows.. its all there monster enegery legendary and all the youg fellas will be saying "cool, i am gana get a car like that".. they spend 20k on a car and basically because they have no money, that money was their one time chance ever to ever own a house... Its a money pit industry for sure! my advice to young fellas.. dont get sucked into the hype/marketing, think of the bigger picture, your youthful enthusiasm will soon fade and you will start to focus on family and owning houses etc.. cars are not really am investment. Sure you might get all the b1tches and some STD's along the way, your mates will think your 'dope' and your car does 'mean skidz' etc but material goods dont fill voids.. providing a home for your own family does (that was beautiful gaz :'(.. aww thanks ) unless you earn sh1t loads then you are sweet rant over! ;D
