  1. can't be too many yellow bridges about eh?
  2. I have a 98 GC8 (v4) and easily get 480-500km per tank. Open road its closer to 530. idle 800rpm. Hard when your a cash strapped student - but run it on 98.
  3. installed the walbro. next - deal with the back log of parts i've been collecting.
  4. i just threw up a little in my mouth. those wheels ....
  5. Excellent. Cheers Boon. Getting the stuff hm is the only problem.
  6. Has any one been to Japan and purchased any car parts/goodies? Heading over there for a holiday next week and wondering if there are any shops I could check out. I've seen Up Garage on Mighty Car Mods. Know of any others? Ideally I'd get some rims, but shipping might be a problem. Cheers
  7. Update - got rid of the noises by coating the bushings with White Lithium Grease ($15 from Repco). Bottomline - the greaseless bushings are b.s.
  8. I have a manual + wiring diagram for 97-98 Impreza (incl turbo model - not specifically STi). ... Err its .pdf and 170Mb. Looking at the back of the instrument cluster wiring diagram, would b13 make any sense to you, it comes off the battery via ignition switch?? Will try pm you a jpeg.
  9. Got some Whiteline lateral links (KLL122) which hopefully will do the trick. After install and one quick drive the bar seems to have stayed put. Now just to deal with the groaning noises. I assume its the bushings, and I'm using Whiteline's new 'greaseless' bushings. I'm not convinced they work. Anyone else have experience with greaseless bushings? Should I just put grease over the "cloth-like PTFE liner"? Original swaybar and endlink L end link - near vertical position R endlink - being pulled over to the left Rear D link
  10. ahh, your wing looks so nice/clean compared to what I've got. There was only one male stud left in my wing, everything else was hacked off and glued in. Several of the plastic grooves (just right of centre in your picture) that the male studs slide under are also destroyed or missing completely. If I can replace a few of those off another spoiler, I should be able to get some sort of stud/washer/bolt combo to work. I also need to replace the oem foam seal, and paint it ... and get a new boot lid. Does the top half of the wing not sit exactly flush with the bottom? Just noticing the lower right corner of the image. My wing is similar with a couple mm overhang.
  11. Cheers all. Was thinking about it last night and if hose clamps would also do the same job.

    V5 STi spolier

So I purchased a v5 spoiler off TradeMe a while back when I was overseas (first mistake). I've only just had a chance to inspect it. Problem is the underside of it. Most the plastic slots for mounting clips are stripped, and the fact it didn't come with any clips, screws or bolts is another problem in itself. So A; somehow I need to fix the stripped plastic mounting locations and B; source some oem parts (preferred), or some other method to mount the wing. There is no Pick-a-part nearby that I could source plastic clips from and I'm not exactly sure what the oem look like. I've read some pple just using the 4 or so holes from their original spoilers (ie no drilling into the boot) but I'd rather the entire wing (if it ever gets fitted) is secure. So will probably need to source a second hand boot as well. .... anyone with a v5/6 wing lying about??
  13. I used a citrus based cleaner you can get from hardware stores - can't remember the name, but its a clear spray bottle with an orange on it - meh. Removed my WRX boot sticker, and the baked-on stickey stuff they used to cement the monsoon shields to the body.
  14. Sup y'all, Installed a new Whiteline 22mm front swaybar with grease-less bushes the other day. Got some new endlinks from BNT - as suggested by the forum previously. The problem is the swaybar keeps moving (towards the passenger side) even after slow/normal driving around town. As a result the endlinks end up being 'uneven'. ie the left endlink ends up vertical, and the right side at an angle. like / and | So the swaybar is moving, which can not be good. Should the swaybar bushings and clamps technically be enough to hold the swaybar in place? I don't have a torque wrench so using a 12mm socket wrench. Or am I going to require additional Whiteline lateral locks (collars) to stop the swaybar moving?? I didn't have this issue with my rear swaybar. Ideas??? Cheers RR
  15. installed front swaybar and endlinks. endlinks are a pain. hopefully its all put back together correctly and theres no massive tension in the system waiting to buckle/pop/explode.

    Bonnet loose

    Cheers, will have a look.

    Bonnet loose

Hi all, My bonnet was removed a while back for painting and now it makes a knocking noise every so often; esp when driving on an uneven road or when the wind gets under it. I think the paint shop has over tightened one of the bolts on the right hand side and stripped the tread. I can pull the bonnet with my hand and there's a 1-2mm of play in it. Any ideas how to remedey this? Cheers RR
  18. Cheers for the advice. I'll have a look into the cheaper links. Assume they are up to same standard/quality/job of whiteline ones??
  19. Hi guys, Am looking to upgrade to a whiteline front 22mm sway bar and end links. Which end links do I need, KLC32 or KLC139?? Car is '98 WRX, on stock suspension (which I might upgrade in future). I believe it also has alloy arms, but am away from car and can not check. Cheers. RR
  20. Suspended registration and put in her storage for the rest of the year.
  21. Agree with the above. Don't drive about with no reg or wof. If you crashed you'd also be uninsured and liable for all damages caused. In saying that,... usually if you get your rego sorted straight away, they might waive half the fine.
  22. Can anyone recommend a place that does long term car storage (approx 6 months)? Would preferred covered/garage storage, but will depend on price. Ideally I would also put it on jack stands, disconnect battery. Any other advice on long term storage welcome. Cheers.
