yea. Do you reckon it could be allowing it to move around to much?? I thought it could be a issue, im going to make a bracket for it when i put it back together.
Looking to see if anyone else has had issues with v-band on their wastegate... specifically the 40mm turbosmart comp gate
What happened: Was cruising through to hallswell... was poddering down a straight, shifted into 3rd low rpm and loaded the ***** up grew to max boost 20.4psi. following was a rather obnoxious POP followed by external gate, i freaked the F*#k out and parked up and checked everything
Following this is i jacked it up, and yes the v-band and only the v-band was gone. Seems odd because when me and a mate built return pipe to run internal we spent ages getting the v-bands to seat in properly and did them up tight. and double checked everything... a new v-band stung me 80 so don't really want it to happen again.
Any ideas what could have caused it? no smart arse **** please
Cheers
but they are inside the strut??? cant tell unless you pull them to bits? I didnt cut them when i put springs in but have seen some manufactures recommend it, or like stated supply new ones. but i dont think this is the case here, so my input in invalid.
try trade me insurance... they have online calculator. i calculated my v7 sti for full cover at 16k for around 1000 a year!!!! looks to be best value and can list all bolt on mods (except engine work - pistons, etc). im yet to change to them but think i will as NAC are a rip off and absolute arseholes when making a claim.
thought id update.... my new V7 wrx sti has a Samco silicone intake hose, i also removed the intake silencer before tuning. The intake and silencer delete allowed for around 10kw gains then stock parts fitted, (before intake was 210kw, after was around 220-229kw) has some crazy arse spool now even with stock air box, which is pleasing to the ears.
i think the one at the opposite end? the bottom side of the strut. would be the last bolt you undo before the strut is able to be broken down and the bump stop can then be cut...
Do you happen to know the torques for the bolts that hold the strut together? think it like 29 or 40nm but not sure. just want to make sure before i go ripping things apart
Does anyone know about cutting the bump stops when fitting springs? Iv spent some time searching it, and some say its not needed, and others say it makes a hell of a difference. Does anyone have some info to share that could help? how much is needed to be cut in front and real if its the option....
Cheers
