Anyway, I reckon it might just be easier sourcing a steering wheel with factory stereo control buttons and retrofitting that.
If I remember rightly (it was over 6 months ago now) my 05 Outback could still change gears manually (sort of) while still in drive. I know my facelift OB you can use the flappy paddle in normal drive mode.

A bit late, but on Tuesday/Wednesday had my car in to Crowesport for its free service and install the replacement dash.
Runs so much smoother and the dash looks sooo good.
Can't fault their removal and installation, looks just like factory, no gaps or rattles.

What about your headers? No flexi there?
Not anymore by the looks of it 😥
Dont some manifolds have a flexi section in the middle?

I used D2S in both BL5 and BR9, doubt yours will be different.
Osram Xenarc from ebay, were around $100/pair back then.
Brought a D2S in the end.
Had a good chat with the guy at Supercheap Linwood, and between the info from @ADIKT we worked out its just a normal D2S bulb.
So the basics are:
D2S - D2 bulb with shield - location cut outs one side
D2R - D2 bulb with reflector on side - location cut outs other side
D2C - D2 bulb with out reflector that will fit both headlight fittings (What I had)

Awesome advice guy.
Looks like the bulb in mine is the D2C, so it fits both.
Didn't think about the ballast, will do that when it stops raining

Hey guys
Need to replace the Xenon bulb in the outback.
Its a Xenon D2 bulb, the issue is the only replacements I can find available are the D2S and D2R.
Ive seen D2S being sold as a replacement, but when I checked at Supercheap the bulb holder bit at the end looked a little different.
So can anyone advise if I can use the D2S or if not where to get the right bulb.

when it starts talking follow these steps:
1: Take preferred foot
2: Raise foot to dash height
3: Kick the s#*t out of the dash till it stops.
4: Repeat as often as needed until it stops permanently
🤣🤣🤣
But seriously
Some readers are fitted by drivers right knee where the coin box is, subaru do a replacement pocket for the coin box

On the weekend I got bored and bashed out the centre y collector cat.
My handy drill and round file with a wonky end and a small diameter pipe and it was all done in no time.
Sounds a bit better, maybe a little be more responsive low down.
No real reason to do do this.

Looks like at this point I don't have the time or spare money to pull this.
So if in Christchurch at this point there is a 3.0 BLE 6 speed manual, that when I saw it was pretty complete at Pickapart

Could be interested, depending on price.. I have a bp5 prefacelift 5mt.
What part of the country are you in?

Have no idea, but might have access to a cheap one to buy and then sell on trademe. Just gotta make sure that
1. People want them
2. It's not going to sit forever waiting to sell
3. I can make some sort of profit off it.

just a quick question, whats a resonable price to pay for a BLE six speed gear box? ive seen a few prices but seem be sti ones
-
No real experience with either sized engine, but I would imagine the EZ30 would have a lot more spare parts and would be cheaper than the EG33.

Ive had a pre facelift 2.5 outback and now have a facelift 3.0.
Go for the later models in 3.0 is my opinion, I find its a little bit thirstier when just doing a lot of short runs, but evens out wih a few longer runs.
Also if going auto the 3.0 has the 5 speed.
Both are great wagons, but prefer the 3.0.

One of my friends brought a 3.0 legacy to tow a horse float and horse, it was just under the limit for weight but wishes she got something with a bit more power.
Personally if it's going anywhere near hills don't get it.

This is my opinion.....
you brought the car, like it but really think you shouldn't of brought it and now looking for an excuse to get rid of it.
5k difference between what you were told and what was written down is nothing to complain about. If you were told it had been done and never had, then you would have an issue I would worry about.
I can tell you that the belt can do wayyyyyyy more than a few thousand ks past their replaement date.
It sounds like you are still not 100% what car you want, wagon, sedan or coupe.

To make it more interesting for everyone to get their heads around, we used the factory auto loom, ECU and the BCM
We pulled out the AT control unit and did some magic wiring
Did it have the Si drive? And could you retain it?
That sounds like some good magic going on there

Not my car, but we have successfully converted a facelift BP5 auto to a manual 6-speed! CANBUS still working, ready for a tune
That would make it a lot more fun!!!
Would love a manual in the BPE Outback 😁
