How much louder does the car get after de-catting the primary downpipe?
I've had an idea, just wondering if its worth pursuing, before unleashing it upon the unsuspecting world!
Fixed the issue above, just with some cheap ass SCA pads for the moment, I'll get something decent before the next trackday.
Also rebled the brakes, must have had some air in it last time, causing the spongy pedal.
Now with new pads and no air in the system its solid as.
Also chucked in a lolzy boost tap, for the s$#&s n giggles.
Went to the trackday at Ruapuna today.
Apparently track days are hard on brakes... who'd have thunk that eh?
Explains the horrible noise driving home anyway.
Mine is a pull type clutch with SMF.
I think you have to pull the intercooler off to see into the bellhousing through the wee inspection port, or you may be able to see in from under the car, I'm not 100% sure as everything was in bits on mine when I was looking!
The dual mass flywheel is very bulky, and has upstands around the perimeter of the clutch surface, a single mass looks like a "normal" flywheel and clutch, so is flat on the clutch surface.
I've just done the clutch in my 2000 GTB, which should be the same as your car (hopefully!), and I got an Exedy HD clutch kit which is grippy as a grippy thing, and got teh engine shop out the front of work to grind the flywheel as it was not a dual mass one.
I think the dual mass ones came on the non-turbo cars.
Hope that helps!
I would say after a quick read of that, that 1.6mm Aluminium sheet would be fine, after all if its good enough for the tank it should definitely be good enough for the fire resistant bulkhead!
It does also say the bulkhead has to be vapourproof as well, so sealed off completely, which may mean with fire resistant sealant, although it doesn't specify that.
Megadeth, Rust in Peace.
Best speed metal album ever.
Maybe only play it when you don't care about speeding tickets... like on the track.
Or anything Mastodon.
Coolies, cheers dude.
Also thanks Ross, I thought what you said was the case, just wanted to make sure before doing something silly and causing explosions!
I could do!
My cunning plan was to get a newer/ rebuilt primary and port that, would save time over taking my old 230+k turbo out, porting it, then having it lunch itself because of too much lolzy boostage, then having to find another turbo etc etc.
So me needs to acquire a boost controller or pills before de-catting the primary, but the second cat can go to the great cat heaven/ scrap metal no worries!
Righto chaps and chappettes, I have searched but cannot find the thread or post about de-catting Rev-C GTB Legacy's, I know its on here somewhere!!
Anyway, while I have the exhaust in bits, I was thinking of removing one or both cats.
Just can't remember if it causes any issues with over-boosting or under fueling or if it needs a tune or boost controller etc etc.
What say you savages?
