1. AFIAK they stay completely closed, then open a bit to pre spool the secondary before you hit vod, vod is when it goes from a little bit to fully open. There's also a chance the primary wastegate isn't working right, i imagine that would have similar symptoms. i'e, low boost on primary, but pretty normal / laggy on secondary. And a boost gauge is REALLY an essential gauge in a turbo'd car, i highly recommend you go out and get one soon, it can really show you what the turbo's are doing allot better than the butt dyno can.
 2. Lets not forget the VF39 edit: Hmmm, may be wrong, you can never trust the interwebs It would appear the 39 is similar, but possibly a bit smaller than a 16G. No hard facts.
 3. You know, we have a handy table feature on the forum. I think it would be easier to maitain, but maybe a little hard to edit (quote me to see why)

Place Power Car details Name Dyno Details Date

1 400 kW STi V3 on c16 SILNCR Speedsource 12/03/2009

2 244 kW STi 98 Wagon at 18psi Capster Gary Capper 31/03/2009

3 227 kW STi 98 Type R JWDRPN ST HIGH TEC Hubdyno 19/08/2008

4 220 kW WRX 94 WRXER Sinclairs rolling road 02/03/2009

5 196 kW STi V7 Raynes TP Dyno Avondale 04/04/2009

6 185 kW GTB (BH) Glen Gary Capper 31/01/2009

7 185 kW STi V2 RA running V3 STi ECU with SAFC2 and EBC Kamineko TP Dyno Dunedin APET 15/01/2009

8 184 kW STi 05 with EBC BlkPnthr TP Dyno Te Rapa 27/09/2008

9 182 kW GTB (BG) 98 Joker DynaPack - Chequed flag 15/06/2007

10 175 kW GTB (BG) 98 Single turbo VF39 & EBC ReubenH TP Dyno Avondale 21/06/2008

11 173 kW WRX Viperguy Speedtech hub-dyno 15/07/2008

12 158 kW GTB (BG) Stock Munkvy DynaPack - Chequed flag 14/03/2007

13 135 kW Forester S/TB nztintin TP Dyno Te Rapa 27/09/2008

14 128 kW Forester T/TB - Stock auto matdaymon TP Dyno Avondale 21/06/2008

15 119 kW GT30 Keltik TP Dyno Te Rapa 27/09/2008

4. Well have a look and see if the valve is actually stuck a wee bit open. I imagine you'd get 66 or a similar code if it was. And how's boost on secondary? You have a boost gauge right?
 5. Ok then, BG5 GTB, Manual, Single turbo converted using V3 STi parts and ECU. Use ONLY 98. Get about 12L to 13L per 100K, while driving with no regard for fuel economy whatsoever. So i'm guessing with a 60L tank, that's around 500-450KM's per tank. Mix of suburb and highway driving.
 6. Yeah that's what i was thinking. Might be an idea for before i leave for oz (parents are looking after the car, they don't like the 3" :). Now i thought modifcations over there were hard to do cause the rules are so strict... Is that only with some things is it? or is that just BS?
 7. Dunno, haven't seen a full fuel gauge in over a year. I did work out i use 12.5L/100K though. Not bad for how i drive ;D
 8. Even rarer? Better? Now, those mufflers that aussie company makes with the butterfly in them for going loud and staying quiet. I've heard those are technically illegal here... Something to do with being easily modified so they fail the wof. I think this is what you were talking about earlier subiboy. Cause i've got one of the dual entry muffler gizmo's in my boot too, i wonder if it is actually possible to hook it up to the xforce muffler with a bit of custom work.. Thing is though, i have no idea if it still works or not, i don't know if it's powered by the ECU or not. Cause i kinda have an STi ECU now.
 9. Oh, misunderstood the first question. I wouldn't pay more than $20 for one. Maaaaaybe $40... if i was desperate.
 10. I already asked, got a no I had no idea they were that rare. Makes me want one even more now...
 11. 93 was the crossover year, we talking Gen-1, or Gen-2 legacy?
 12. Well the VF13's are exactly known for their reliability are they? In this case at least, we're talking only a muffler, so i think nothing to worry about whatsoever.
 13. Still could be anything! Get some second opinions. Maybe go over to winger greenlane and ask to talk to Ryan. Tell him Reuben sent you (He doesn't like CS any more )
 14. Model: 1998 BG GTB, single turbo Name of Dyno: Torque Performace Dyno , rolling road, Avondale, Aucklnad. Date of run: 21 - 06 - 2008 Only power mods are a VF39 boosting hard, that dyno was before the 3" zaust. The rest of the cash went into solid internals http://s197.photobucket.com/albums/aa208/Pilot_Reuben/GTBs%20Back/?action=view&current=dyno06-08.jpg (Can't hyperlink cause photobuckets gay)
 15. You deserve a gold star for that ;D Seriously though, sticky this thread.
 16. I just made a point about that in another thread. I think worst case scenario, if it acutally does over spool badly, then it'd be a good time to get a good boost controller like an AVC-R.
 17. I'm going to call mainly myth on the "exhaust mods blow up TT turbo's" thing. And if it's only the muffler, you have nothing to worry bout mate. Now bring on the flaming
 18. Do you know what the ticking is? Could be anything. Find out what it is first. But yep, that's one hell of a good price, i bet it will skyrocket though, look at the amount of interest in it.
 19. Well you've messed with your ECU haven't you You bring up a good point with 95 being demonized though, i'm guilty as sin for doing that, but what do we actually know on the subject? The extent of my knowledge (and I may be wrong - idiot/n00b disclaimer there), is that the lower octane is more volatile, and thus more prone to detonation. Detonation happening when you have a high heat/compression going on, i.e. on boost, or loading a high compression N/A. Is that 3 octane gap actually a big difference, or not so much? We know that running 91 for example, will kill a new STi engine - i remember a thread on the old forum about a guy with a brand new 08 sti who went to the track on 91, and brought the car home on a trailer. Subaru did not cover it under their warranty
 20. I really should have done something like that purely for shits and giggles before single turbo-ing. And isn't there already a flange in there? or is that the primary side..
 21. I view 98 as scummy, our cars are tuned to run on 100 ron remember.
 22. Well you know i think joker has a point, in that i don't see why people nominated as tech mods shouldn't just be mods for the whole forum..
 23. Hmm. Oh well, ECU reset after 95 then, just to be sure. :
 24. I think they re-adjust back, part of a learning ECU is that it's always learning right? Whenever i have no option but 95, i will always stick it on low boost, and try keep off boost. Boost, and loading will be the killers, since that's when the car is likely to detonate.
