Anyone successfully chased this through the recall program?  Would be super handy to know what SUbaru NZ's position is on this

I attempted to do this for my 2007 BL5 Legacy but Nelson Subaru advised there wasn't any recalls on my vehicle - this was there response when I emailed them

    Hi

We recall check every vehicle when booked in but I rechecked yours again and there is no Recalls outstanding for your VIN number.

    Regards

New member, new to Suby ownership.

Just bought '05 3.0 Outback, to park in Queenstown for regular visits from afar.

    125000kms, mechanically perfect currently.

Will need regular servicing to keep it that way.

Can anyone recommend a service centre in Queenstown (or possibly Wanaka - we are based in Cardrona during visits).

    Cheers and TIA

Hey there Mate I dont live in that area however I recently enquired with Queenstown Motor Group about service history on a Legacy BH5 I was going to buy, they were very disinterested and I felt like they couldn't be bothered helping, however that is my only experience with them

Others from the area may have better opt

Shàll I just change them before they blow then? I'm about 8000kms away from a timing belt change so can do it all in one hit.

No water/oil mixing to speak of yet.

If it was my car I would but that's just me

Well, the thing is that you're changing of the hoses on the revisions A/B/C to match what Rev. D should be.

So if you're changing something on the Rev. D, then something ain't right haha.

Also, since Rev. D is reflashable, just take it to SAS and get a tune :P Safer and better than doing a mod to bring boost pressure up haha

Okay cheers thanks for that - who's SAS by the way?

Hose 10 mod isn't applicable on the Revision D as far as I know :)

Hmm that's very confusing then as it would appear after reading through all 10 pages in this thread that people with Rev D have done it...

Listen for any nasty rattles or noise coming from cam covers and remove passenger side cover and check cam belt for wear and cracks.Purchased my bl in Nelson and drove back to Auckland with barely legal S*** tyres.Wellington to Auckland was in pouring rain and darkness.Bent a rim driving through Hamilton.

Nice - which passenger side cover are you talking about? I wont have tools with me in queenstown to check first

  7. So looking at buying another BH5 Legacy cos i miss my old one haha only thing is it needs a cambelt it was last done at 93,000kms and has now just done 212,000kms would it still be okay to drive it home to Nelson from Queenstown? obviously will get it done once I get it home

Adaptors for the rear calipers, unless it is a tbSTI which will have the correct rear backing plate and larger handbrake setup. Which you'll want to grab.

The tbSTI ones can use standard v7 rotors but if you use adaptors you need either thicker handbrake shoes or the adaptor rotors from DBA which are quite pricey.

Fairly certain the brake lines are the same from memory. Might be worth just grabbing them too if they are braided ones

ok cheers so the brakes on the wrecked ones are oem  without adapters so I will need to also get the rear backing plate and handbrake setup?
