Known issue, have seen people opening  headlights (bake in an oven) and replacing the reflectors only.

Can get a pair of very nice OSRAM HID bulbs for $100 or so shipped off ebay. Local prices are a rip-off.

@1randomkiwi might want to comment on this ;)

Also, I'd rather go aftermarket and get CrystalEye headlights - auto levelling HID, new reflectors, LED goodness, plug'n'play.

Probably about the same price as what you paid for your manual halogens too.

Looking into New HID myself, thanks for sharing your experience, will check out!

Edit: does this mod remove the turn indicator?

About to drill holes in boot for my spoiler/waist spoiler but had a few questions first.

How will I keep water from entering the boot? Its second hand spoiler and it had small patches of sticky stuff around where it sat on boot that I had to remove.

Annd if one day I decide to take it off, is there a way to plug up the holes properly?

So envious, been looking for a proper waist spoiler for my SG9 Foz for a year with no luck. Enjoy yours! :D

Finally finished installing BMW programming and diagnostic software - nearly 250GB all up :S

Took me a while to figure out how to adjust the rear air suspension, got it sorted in the end, even gaps all round now.

Also found out that all control modules (like 20+ of them including ECU, TCU etc.) have very recent late 2016 firmware, must have been updated in Japan before it left for New Zealand.

I bet most of that are video tutorials?

  4. It's not how we identify the turbo, it's what the turbo identifies as. I think it might be a trans or bi turbo who identifies as a twin scroll. Or maybe even turbo-fluid. Not all turbo who identify as fluid have a turbo fluid resevoir, it's just how they feel at a particular part of the rev range.

    Don't judge.

Edit: some of my best friends are turbos.

Reverse gear is straight cut so it will whine unlike the others that are helical, I guess you're saying your reverse whines more/sounds different to other cars? A video will help a lot here.

Have you removed and inspected the wife from the rear seating? Sometimes you get a "chat" sound when reversing.

Got to Remember he's including a brand new clutch, and custom valved MCA red suspension on top of his entire v10 STi driveline and hub / brake conversion with wheels too since 114.3... So actually 10k is a pretty good price point.

MCA reds are so sexy, money well spent

  7. Yep, chances are the camera goes first. Either thrown or ironically taken to sell. xD But this means that you know your car is being stolen and you can at least call the police or get to your car if close by. Chances are you'll have the tow truck's licence plate recorded too, hopefully in the cloud app. Got to ask about that.

Sigh, theft prevention is just wishful thinking anyway with a low chance of success.

  8. Keen to know thoughts on how to prevent the old "tow and dismember" tactic of car theft where an alarm doesn't help.

I'm thinking of  getting a dash-cam like the following: Blackvue DR650S-2CH which has front and rear to catch people who want to tow you. There is a parking battery and motion sensor so when someone tried to tow you, it records video and you can view on an app. The dash-cam also has GPS, so you can see if the car is being towed and where it is going despite the battery being disabled :)

Does your mate have really short legs and struggles to push the pedal right to the floor cos thats the only way this would come close to beating a much lighter car with more power.

Roffles from 2015, this thread is great.

    As was evowrx's gem:

Australian engine builders specialising in Subaru EJ's. Just... wow. :o Used in so many 400-600kw projects! They're engine builders so you have to chase their tuners / forums for the actual build details more often than not.

Interesting to see Australian experience with EJ25's - they don't seem to be much favoured in NZ compared with the higher revving EJ20's and 22b's.

[I ran a quick "all content" search here, but no results showed these guys up. I thought someone mentioned them here in a post I read earlier this year?]

street racing is dumb yo & do half the other cars you dust up even know they are racing?

That's why they have those stickers on the back of their cars, like the "if you can read this you're losing".

Street racing is similar to a joke: "if you have to explain to someone you're racing them, you're doing it wrong."
