  1. So maybe it's just me but I thought the car felt a bit more peppy yesterday. It's had a week since the ECU reset, and a good run down the motorway along with the normal city driving. So I plugged in romraider just now, and the IAM is.... 0.1875 😣 You can't tell me that every single H6 outside of Japan is running this badly with all the timing pulled out of it? Would chucking in some octane booster ( as a trial, to prove the octane is too low and it's not something else ) be likely to improve things? I struggle to believe I should have to pay hundreds to get a totally stock well maintained engine remapped just so it'll run as advertised. Does anyone know if the newer 3.6 litre H6's run like this? or is it only a 3.0 litre thing? And if so, what is different about a 3.6, it must be the ECU map?
  2. Thanks for that Caleb. A bit or reading for during the week for me. I can't use BtSsm at the moment because the Nexus shat itself and I can't be bothered trying to resurrect it.I've ordered a new 2 din Android 10 unit which I'll install in the same place as the Nexus was ( in between the 2 air vents in the dash above the stereo ) and then I'll be able to run BtSsm on that. I run the car on 98 all the time, so hopefully it should minimise any knock. Now you've said the engine needs to be driven through all rpm and load points makes sense, I hadn't given it much jandel. This afternoon when I was out I gave it a boot down the motorway on-ramp so that should have helped it a bit? 99% of the time the car is lucky to see 2000rpm......maybe I need to drive it a bit harder.
  3. The IAM is still at 0.500 on RR logger
  4. OK so I did all this no worries. Plugged the laptop into the car, and now it says "Retrieving A/F Learning ranges... Error performing Learning Table Values read. Check the following: "Logger has successfully connected to the ECU "Correct COM port is selected ( if not Openport 2 ) "Cable is connected properly "Ignition is ON I'm sitting her with the engine running, and it's all connected properly because I can see the rpm and battery voltage current values changing in the logging section. So not sure why it isn't working??
  5. I just tried to do the LV log as above, but it came up " ECU definition file not found or undefined. Learning Table Values cannot be properly retrieved until an ECU definition is defined in the Editor's Definition Manager" So ( in plain English 😁 ) how do I do that?
  6. I had the battery disconnected for about 25 minutes. When I started driving it the throttle pedal was very lethargic as it usually is after a reset, so pretty sure the battery was disconnected long enough for the ECU to reset. Doesn't seem to drive any differently at all, maybe ever so slightly smoother when on / off the throttle? How do I do the learning view? No BtSsm anymore, only got RomRaider at the moment.
  7. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1DSsnaZXn2hpReDXRdU6kjU1Xlbqr_umuAQpijUf7xFY/edit#gid=2094790565 Trying to get a nice graph out of it but not got enough brain power today But I think the new solenoid has fixed that problem. How long before the IAM gets up? After I disconnected the battery yesterday afternoon while fitting the new solenoid, I drove home ( about 25 minutes) then I went out this morning for about another 25 minutes. How long will it be relearning for ?
  8. My car is 5EAT too. The new solenoid finally turned up this morning. While waiting to it to arrive, my nexus has shat itself, so I can't reset the ECU with it anymore. And you say the gearbox doesn't like having the ECU reset without also resetting the TCU? So if I disconnect the battery for 10 minutes that will reset the ECU? Not sure where to reset the ECU / TCU from in RomRaider yet, have only used RR the one time above. Anyway, I might try and fit the new solenoid tonight, or first thing tomorrow morning. Then I'll log in it RR and post up the results. Stay tuned.....
  9. Toe-out scrubs the inside of the tyre, toe-in scrubs the outside. The car is set to the factory specs, maybe I should deviate from that a little an ddial in some Toe-out. Good reason to finish my home alignment kit, I have th eturnplates, just need to make the string line holders
  10. @den-t really? Why do 003's do it? Do other Bridgestones wear like that? What other tyres do you recommend?
  11. The outside of the front tyres seem to wear faster than the rest of the tyre. The tyres that were on the car when i bought it were like this, and the new set I put on ( with an alignment too ) are doing the same thing. I'm running around 36psi in them. 215/45r18 Bridgestone Potenza re003 Adrenaline. I drive the car like a nana, I don't chuck it around corners full noise. All the supension bushes etc are in good nick, and the wheel alignment sheet shows that all the settings are right in the middle of the tolerances. My car is factory stock, ride-height, suspension etc. It's had new front standard Bilsteins shortly before I bought it, car sits level and rides well, no problems. To me, the car seems to have zero camber to a slight bit of positive camber when it's sitting there, so when turning the outside wheel will go more positive unless there is a massive amount of caster. How are you all dealing with this? Because going through 3 sets of fronts to a set of rears will get old quick. Can you get longer bottom arms for these cars?
  12. Tossing up whether to put 225's on next time, to fill the guards out a bit better ( because of the extra sidewall height ). Any negatives to running 225's? The speedo will be out 1.6% ( will read slower than you are going, but considering it shows about 5kph faster than you're actually going with the right size 215 tyre it will reduce the error ).
  13. Oh right. Yeah well that's probably not going to happen, had so many problems, not going to start all over again. I had to get the dude at work to install Timors ROM because I couldn't work it out, took him quite a while to work it out too, and now I don't work there. Time for something new I think.
  14. So, more problems. Last night the Nexus didn't got to sleep when I turned the key off. So I tried to reboot it in the power manager, it turned off to reboot, and when it started bback up, the coloured circles do their thing, then it goes to the "optimising apps 17 of 22" etc. when it gets to 22 and finishes that, it just goes back to the coloured circles, then optimising apps, around and around in that loop. So I pulled it out of the dash to get to the buttons, and reset it in recovery mode, still the same. Nothing I did would change it, I couldn't even get it to turn off and stay off. So I let the battery go flat overnight. Plugged it in this morning and it still does the same thing, just going around in that loop. Anyone got any ideas, apart from using it as a wheel chock? Getting ready to start looking at other options to have BtSsm, maps, and play music off a USB stick. Bloke at work just got a Isudar H53 for his Mondeo, thinks it's the best thing since sliced bread. Cant get one for a Subaru, but the lady told me th eone for Toyota RAV4 Corolla etc is 200x100 screen size so it'd fit in the same place as the Nexus ( not sure on the depth of the H53 though ), and the frame around the edge of it is flush with the glass screen, so that could be a goer. Not interested in replacing my factory stereo though, just want something with a screen to display BtSsm, maps, and hook my USB DAC into it.
  15. What's up with the party lights? Parking Warden car?
  16. My temperature gauge sits slightly below horizontal, about where it's always been. Might give it a new thermostat and radiator cap anyway, the cap looks original so 13 years old. And a flush and new coolant. Won't hurt it.
  17. I've never reset the ECU using RomRaider, only using BtSsm and it hasn't seemed to mind. I'll reset it after I put the new solenoid in using BtSsm. Not sure about the temperature, it always seems to run about there?? I watched it like a hawk to and from work today, it peaked at 96 going to work, and 98 several times coming home. Not hot today, 24 degrees. All the way home it ran at 95 to 96, with spikes to 98 at the lights. My radiator core looks mint, and both the electric fans are working. What temperature should it run at? What temperature should the thermostat open?
  18. So when I get the new solenoid, should I reset the ecu after I've installed it, or just whack it in and drive off into the sunset and let everything sort itself out?
  19. When I get the new one in I'll do another log and post it up so we can see the difference.
  20. Bang on with the price, $65USD from Partsouq, + some trim screws that need replacing and 4 oil filters. Happy days 😊 Thanks again for your help @ajayel legend
  21. OK cool, I'll order one right now. Thanks sooooo much for your help @ajayel. I've been trying to sort out the 0.0001 IAM ever since I put the Nexus in the car about 18 months ago. And the car has always had less go that I thought a 3L 6 cylinder should have every since I bought it 3 years ago. So this has probably been the problem the whole time. Hopefully it will fix it.
  22. Swapped the front solenoids side to side, then ran around the same roads https://drive.google.com/open?id=1WjMwz3hgSvX5PYRQnIoRiY9nU1ZWfI-u
  23. OK I'll swap them over. The left hand one is on the top of the engine right behind the yellow oil filler cap? That's the correct solenoid? How do you get the nice graphs out of the info from the RR log?
  24. 😅 https://drive.google.com/open?id=13BtRE3S0vXkditfa1utI6VmyfNUO6myC
  25. OK it's working now, as in at the top right it says reading data with a green circle. Bottom left says select parameters to be logged... where to do that? And for the purposes of what we are trying to work out with my car, I need to log OCV and ACVS and what else? Also, I read on the RR site that you should select DS2 K-line. It has SSM K-line selected at the moment. Do I need to change that? I thought Subaru's were SSM? God damn I'm sure they could make this a bit more user friendly and intuitive so you don't need a degree in computers to be able to work it all out and get it set up it. Or maybe I'm just well below the average level of stupid 😂
