  1. Apparently the law change isn't the big deal its being cracked up to be - its supposed to make it tougher for people/businesses to get authorisation for acquiring details than it is at the moment. The opt-out thing is good though, just done it.
  2. My NZ new Rev-D does, maybe yours has been changed?
  3. From memory STi Type-R had no roof vent, STi Type-R Ltd did. Type-RAs all do as well but they're 4-door.
  4. Heard they quoted someone $1300 for a MAP sensor... went and got a second-hand one for $40 instead. If you want to buy from Wingers, say what they charge. If you want to pay less, buy somewhere else.
  5. ;D Good read, its funny how you can take these cars for granted when they're what you're used to. PS Good combination having a Legacy for a sensible car to go with a sportscar! Not that I'm biased or anything
  6. ;D Top stuff! Makes me miss Central, spent a couple years in Cromwell but further down south for work now.
  7. The old man is looking at H6 Lancaster/Outbacks (BH shape), just wondering what the VDC system is like? What I've picked up so far is: -All H6 that shape were autos -VDC gets 45:55 rear-biased 4wd whereas non VDC is front biased (have heard up to 90:10) -VDC can't be turned off except by removing a fuse, which also disables ABS? Is that lot correct? And what are they like to drive, any nasty habits like suddenly cutting power when you get into a slide on gravel? Anything else useful to know about them?
  8. Ah good to know, didn't realise they were that similar. Have thought about the whiteline anti-lift kit too for the extra castor it gives.
  9. Where would one find a quick rack for the Legacy? Its one of the few things I'd quite like to change about my GTB (especially when I've been driving the MX5 a lot!).
  10. Get it out on the gravel too, good way to to get used to how it behaves when slideways!
  11. Rev-D has VF33/32 combo not 31/32 (well mine does anyway!), not sure how much difference there is between the 33 and 31. Mine is pulling about 2700rpm @ 100km/h in 5th so the calculated 2650 above sounds pretty accurate.
  12. Should be fine unless its got monster Brembo or something.
  13. You'll probably find you can carry braking much later into a corner to help keep the nose planted - even to the point which lock an inside front wheel and cause understeer with a Rwd car. They're very stable and hard to get out of shape so you can take a lot more liberties than with an MR2. As said above you'll need less lock applied to catch a slide than you would with a Rwd, keep the front wheels pointed where you want to go because when the car hooks up you're going in that direction. The most common AWD mistake I've seen is people who get into a slide, wind on too much opposite lock then either lift off the gas or forget to take the opposite lock off again as the car comes back. End result is a violent (and almost uncatchable) snap back the other way.
  14. ;D Ohhh but the MX5 is so much fun in the wet too! Nice and light, perfectly balanced Rwd... and that one is faster than the GTB as well
  15. Sometimes its a tough call which car to take though, I love both of them! Or...
  16. Thats pretty much what mine is doing... 1 bar = 14.7psi from memory so yours is a bit on the low side. But IIRC yours is an auto? Which may run lower boost than a manual as part of the EJ206 detuning-to-protect-slushbox. I have a boost gauge on the way for mine so it will be interesting to see what its doing.
  17. Yep the 10w/30 or 40 should be fine for your BG5 but the newer Subarus prefer a thinner 5w/30 or 40 - I found Castrol Edge 5w/30 gave a bit more turbo noise in mine which went away with the Valvoline 5w/40 in it now.
  18. Can't go too far wrong with a fully synthetic 5w/40
  19. ;D Did Teteronga and Levels last time but missed Ruapuna... better do all 3 this time! Have a quicker car now too.
  20. Depends on the tyre too, the recommended pressure doesn't always mean that much - if it feels too soft try more pressure . For what its worth I'm currently running 36-38psi with Bridgestone RE001.
  21. Above your left ankle when driving. Try lying on your back on the floor and shining a torch up behind the plastic cover in case they've been taped up out of the way.
  22. No trouble finding mine either.
  23. Best check if the car is question is Rev-C or Rev-D as it could be either in 2001. If its a Rev-D then has newage Denso computer and sensors.
