yeah u did tell me ;D................but then someone else who has actually changed their own mounts on a BC5 told me they didn't need to take theirs off so I didn't........at first. nah, couldn't be arsed taking pics but happy to talk others thru it

I checked out the chrome they look pretty good.........definitely reuseable............how much would a complete set of pistons set me back anyway?

hey cheers for that bro..........i already scored sum off TM and I fitted them up today. Got the job done and learnt a lot in the process..........check out how fucked that passenger mount was. as soon as I jacked it up it just dropped away from the top half. I think its been like that for quite some time. The drivers side one was ok. prick of a job..........don't wana do that again in a hurry. I would recommend taking the radiator out next time because the extractors started to hit the fans as we raised the engine. Luckily it didn't limit the height we needed. I would also recommend taking off the brace that sits under the top mount.........I didn't take mine off strait away but when I did it made things a little easier. Pretty tight space to work in especially the drivers side but a little perseverence and I got the damn things out. I put rex ones back in they are solid rubber square ones. quite a noticeable difference in reduction of engine vibration

sweet sweet......the pistons have no scale or rust on them.......not on the bore sides anyway. What grit sandpaper would you recommend on the bores? Am replacing all seals and covers.

after stripping my 4 pots down I noticed a bit of scale/rust/corrosion on one of the bores......can this be sandpapered off?

cheers yep I'm stripping them right down anyway and re-sealing them..........so thought I would look at paint/powdercoat options. I'll be getn them sandblasted to take off the scale. Painting with caliper paint looks the most cost effective option

tried a search on this one no luck. Looking at powder coating some 4 pot calipers..........been told I mite want to use proper caliper heat paint instead because the powder coating can't handle the temp.........is this true? Any1 running powder coated 4 pots and had issues with heat?

would love to throw the ole leggy round ruapuna but too close for me bro and the car needs a bit of $$ thrown at it.......mm maybe?.....hows that comin along anyway?

bit of interesting info.............I called Radar Direct in the Hutt. Asked them about Laser Star....they said they'd never heard of that product (prolly cause they aren't agents for them). They said they only sell the blinders which use the same laser jamming technology. I told them I was in a car club (didn't name club sub) who had a few members interested in the technology but were a bit skeptical of the so called 'independent reviews' on the internet. I asked if they would be interested in doing some joint testing so we can all have an answer to the question "do they really work?" A win win proposition really.......from our end our members get a definitive answer and can be confident they're spending their hard earned pinga on a product that does what it says it does....or not......and from Radar Directs end, well they get potential busines from our members, word of mouth marketing, and endorsement of their product.......all assuming of course that the technology works like its advertised. That's got to be win win right? Well anyway, after they gave me the 'we've sold hundreds of units to customers and never had any complaints' speech, I was told that the person I was speaking to didn't really have the authority to agree to the testing anyway lol.......and that I should phone back tomorrow when the boss was in the office.........which I'll do ;D
