  1. Awesome, I'll give that a go when the part arrives. Thanks everyone for your help!
  2. Yea I got it off tradme, here's a picture of it: At the moment I haven't decided if I will keep it on the car permanently (It's still coming via post lol) but what I had planned in the long term was to replace the entire intake from the turbo (using this custom pipe as a guideline or mould towards my own design) with my own concepts. I just don't have time at the moment and this pipe on TM wasn't awfully expensive so I thought I might try it. Still a bit puzzled as to what I should do with the boost control hose, since a few of you are saying this, others that. What changes will I expect to see if I just leave it open to atmosphere or close it off?
  3. I haven't made any changes since I bought the car and it was basically standard apart from a hateful aftermarket BOV which I replaced with the stock one (not sure if that has any relevance). So I'm assuming its always been in use? Is there a way to check and how do I just "block it off"?
  4. Hi, I recently obtained a 3" custom air intake pipe. It's basically just a straight swap for the stock air box you find between the turbo and the AFM on a V2 Impreza WRX. One question I do have though: As you can see, on the OEM air box, there is a small inlet for the boost control solenoid hose that sits right underneath the 90 degree bend of the main air intake line. Basically I was just wondering is this going to cause any problems if I don't have this hose connected with the custom pipe? Should I have it connected elsewhere or is it sufficient to just close it off all together?
  5. Any suggestions on some good quality front pipes? At the moment I have a HKS Silent Hi Power, (3" Cat Back) was going to get the HKS front pipe but the store I got them from had none in stock. So I'm just wondering are there any alternatives (preferably in stock in NZ) that people are using and are happy with their purchase? I've seen a few forum members suggest Rage in the old forums but they're made of mild steel are they not?
  6. Hey just wondering where you got those custom pipes made? Quite interested in this setup especially the intake pipe that replaces the OEM air box between the AFM and turbo. Also sent you a PM just in case, ;D cheers.
  7. Any metal in particular will do a better job of keeping the inside of the box cool? I've seen aluminum used a bit not sure if it's good though....
  8. Hi, I recently bought myself an Apex'i Power Intake Kit for my WRX. I was just after some advice on where the best place to stick the pod would be? Here is a picture of the current and not so great (right next to the header tank engine block!) position and setup. What I had in mind at the moment was to remove the 90 degree bend and air box which are after the air flow meter and then get some sort of custom pipe made to create a straighter path to send the pod closer towards the snorkel on the guard? Also to block out heat I'm wondering if it's best to box off that whole area or just stick some sort of heat diversion plate between the pod and the engine block and header tank. My WRX also has no ABS as you can see there's no pump so I do have a bit of space in front of the pod, don't know if that helps with better airflow at all though since the snorkel seems to be the primary area where cool air enters. Any advice would be much appreciated, also if anyone has a good custom setup on their Version 2 WRX I'd be happy to hear from you too! Thanks
