Massive shout out to Aidan in the CHCH Toyota parts department. Ordered some TRD Brake fluid (Re-labeled Motul RBF 600) through them earlier this week, for $21(incl GST) for 500ml.

Super helpful guy, really friendly and quick, prompt service.

You should be able to get the brake fluid through any Toyota Parts Dept in the country

Nice - how do you find it?

I was put onto Endless RF-650 by a friend and found a local supplier in www.prosportauto.co.nz - there is also another option called S-Four but they both seem really good.

  2. This thread can be archived I guess - thank you for all the responses. I think the idea is to purchase brake hoses that match your chassis.

I purchased Goodridge ones and they came with 4 brake lines, 2 pairs of different lengths that were unlabelled, and 8 new copper crush washers. Pretty sure I got them the right way around but pays to double check.

Cheers guys! Definitely more inclined to get a fixed back one. How do the rails work? Do you need to find a subaru specific one that works for each brand? Or will any of those sparco / racetech seats fit into my current rails?

    Buy seat

Decide if mounting to 1) bottom exclusively or 2) bottom and side of seat

Buy chassis specific rails if either 1) or 2)

    Buy side plates if 2)

    Something like this

I've had a good experience with them previously - they are local too. Will give them a bell.

    Safebrake?

Mine were from them - good quality/fitment /price, no complaints at all.

Nice - Need to decide what brand but as long as they work I don't particularly mind

D'oh! I though LINK was American all this time!

Well, definitely gonna have to look at a LINK then. Will most likely go with them now. Not disappointed to not be using Haltech, but glad that someone pointed out LINK to me!

Want something that I can do FlexFuel with (I don't understand the model range). Something in their higher range (if it's worth doing, it's worth over doing).

With the engine I'll be using, and from what I've seen with @McMasterJamie's wicked BE Legacy, I can probably get away with a V7-9 STI plug and play kit (means I can also look into a V8/9 EJ207 too, as I'm probably going Twin Scroll Turbo)!? Have to have a chat to LINK when I'm nearing that part of the build.

I have no idea who I'd want to tune the car! Not too keen on PBMS at the moment. If someone can recommend someone in the upper North Island (or just North Island), I'd be happy to trailer (more likely truck, cos I have my licenses :)) my car to them for a tune!

V7-9 Link G4+ is the most expensive of the Subaru range I think

    And DTECH gets my vote

Me and a few mates are heading up Sat. Should be 6 or so cars, hopefully we'll get let into the good parking xD.

Are you allowed to take gazebos? even if it's to put in the good parking area. Looks like it's going to be FFFing hot.

Edit: Looking at the event info, that's a no

They are super strict about shades, yet loads of people brought umbrellas and just put them up last year.

Seems kinda silly to restrict something like that and not provision alternatives

Im going to Winger, Subtech, and the big used Subaru parts dealer in Onehunga. I'll post my experiences!

The major types of brake pad material are semi-metallic and ceramic, with ceramic being the higher cost better performing and lower dust material.

Nice - thanks for clarifying that for me. Awesome and good luck - following with interest :)

@RaKid @TNHSTI Thanks for the info!

I'm taking these pads back to SCA. I'm heading off to Subtech in Auckland to get some rotors and pads there. What brand do you guys recommend for the ceramic pads?

I'll be posting my brake install adventure as well.

No worries at all - let us know how you go at Subtech - I've never dealt with them before so it will be good to hear about your experience.

I don't actually know what ceramic pads are. All I know is that I run a Znoelli SP500 pad and it seems to go alright. Looking to change to an Endless SSY at some point this year.

  9. Just looks like a standard 4-pot / 1-pot setup.

The brake pad stay can be ordered from Winger Subaru for $50 delivered (same day) - I had to replace one recently

How did the stay fall out? Do you still have both locating pins on each calliper? Is the spring on the inner side still present and secured through each pin?

Exactly. Wet sand paper too. That way the paper doesn't clog up as fast. The 3000 grit pad in the NuLens kit is basically like a fine scotch brite pad.

Yup, nice - much better way to go about it now that I've purchased the entire kit.
