  1. there will most definitely be a few mods thrown at it. Mainly in the handling area. Awesome, cheers guys. Hopefully have one by the end of the weekend. Post some pics up when i do.
  2. I have seen the 2.5 GT's. Might go look at one in the weekend. 1.8t towing is impressive! Think I'm leaning more towards the B spec 3 litre.
  3. I'm based in Auckland but traveling somewhere doesn't bother me. In regards to towing, are they roughly the same torque figures or does the 3 litre trump? $15k is our limit. We have a ton on our watch list so will be doing a few test drives this weekend.
  4. My wife and I are in the market for a 2006 or later Legacy wagon and Im wanting people opinions on type. It will either be the 3 litre or 2 litre turbo. It will be auto unfortunately, the wife wont drive manual. Are there any pros or cons worth noting?? apart from the obvious cambelt of the 2.0 litre.
  5. [/url] The three wires that are free when I got my car with the intercooler spray missing. Two I believe are from the reservoir and the third is from the inlet temp sensor.
  6. I'll be doing the same thing in time. If it works for the EVO's there is no reason why it won't work for a front mounted Subaru. I can send you a pic of the plugs but I won't be home for a bit.
  7. Why? It would effectively do the same thing. It's located (if looking at the engine from the front) at the left behind the lights in front of where the ABS unit is or should be.
  8. Awesome! Cheers guys. Just another question. Is there something about the heat they produce that I should look for?
  9. So iv been building my engine for a while now (ill start a build thread soon). Im at the stage of getting things all assembled. What spark plugs are everyone using these days? Im running an EJ207 out of a version 5. Will be standard boost until I can afford a Link. cheers!!
  10. 4 at the moment but we are downsizing. 1996 Mitzy Mirage (currently on trademe) 1997 landcruiser prado for towing the project 2005 Suzuki swift sport for the wife 1999 Subaru STI type R
  11. Cool concept. I had a wee look at your account so you don't need a login. In my opinion it looks like an online shopping list for thieves.
  12. Awesome, cheers for that. I'll go in that direction and see how I go :-)
  13. So I am at the stage in my build where I need to buy the bearings. I have purchased a new crank and rods (thanks Marc) and need bearings to match. 1. do i need to get the rods and crank measured or can a place like STA parts supply the ones I need without measuring? 2. do I go OEM or ACL?
  14. Anyone recommend one that's close to Howick?
  15. Yeah the car has receipts for a build done this year. It must have dropped a bearing again. I didn't meet the owner but his brother was a big help loaded in on to the car trailer.
  16. So I have purchased a lil project finally. I have wanted one for as long as I can remember. Its a 1999 Type R STI (EJ207 I could be mistaken). I bought it knowing it had a big end bearing drop and also need a bit of love and a tidy up. I have a limited budget as we have our first child cooking and ready in a month but in saying this, I wont be cutting corners. I am a complete noob at car engine rebuilds but being an aircraft engineer I do have a little mechanical knowledge. At the moment I have the engine out of the car and stripped down. My plan is to get it back on the road so I can do a few race days and come to some clubsub meets. I will then be buying a V7 STI block and building for power and swap it into the car eventually. What I have found so far is a big end that is pretty destroyed and also damaged the crank (everything else seems ok). Can I get the crank machined? or I have found a 1999 B4 legacy crank on Trademe. Are these interchangable? I have to say that Partsouq is amazing! has everything I need. I will upload photos when I can figure out how to (I have a photobucket account).
  17. http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread.php?44134-wanted-to-buy-Subaru-type-r/page2&highlight=Turners
  18. Iv been offered a chance to purchase a STI type R and after a bit of research on this forum I have found out a bit about it. The number plate is FMQ946. If car jammed it brings up a recent photo of it at turners. Most of the feed back I read was that it may be not quite what it say it is. Does anyone know any real history on this car?
  19. Hey, just having a read through how you fixed your problem. I have a 1999 bh5 GTB and have the same issue when the spring on retracts half way. Where abouts did you buy your replacement spring from? Cheers :-)
  20. Sounds like your centre diff has given up the ghost bro. I had the same symptoms and it turned out to be the diff.
  21. Wooooooow!!! I just did this mod today and what a difference! Not only is it a huge increase in power but it idles smoother. No hunting at all.
