  1. De glazing bores. How can you tell they need de glazing? Should this just be done no matter what? Block has done 150,000kms
  2. Cheers for that Tony. I like the idea of the connector in the bay. What ECU did you go for?[quote name='evowrx said: I should have spare plugs just post pics of the solenoid and sensor plugs. That would be cool if you had them man. I go home to NZ tomorrow so will take some pics and upload them here for you
  3. So whos done it? Im putting a V7 EJ207 into my Gen 3 Legacy 1999 and the engine i got did not come with the AVCS loom. Ill be running a Link G4 ECU. I can buy a loom from IAP but shes pretty pricey for what it is ($289USD) Link Below And i dont think it would be a plug and play with a Link http://www.iaperformance.com/product_info.php?products_id=3217 To my understanding I can just find a set of male plugs from a wrecked bugeye and run some wires to the ECU?
  4. Cheers evo. Thats the one I had my fingers crossed for because its about $150 cheaper imported from the states
  5. Ok this is starting to annoy me. Google comes with endless possibilities. Their are 3 types of gates kits that I think will work. Their is this one that comes up on the AU/NZ brochure for a recommended kit TCKHWPT277B which is most expensive and quite rare, Then their is TCKWP328 for all USDM WRXs from 03 on wards that is pretty cheap and common, Then theirs TCKWP304 for earlier USDM WRXs which is pretty cheap to Yes the site says the top one for my JDM but if i can save some money i might as well try right. So will the second one work is pretty much my question.
  6. Yeah I should have just said rocker cover side...... Thanks for your answer Andy
  7. Do you need to deck both sides of head or just the block side?
  8. Whats a average price to pay for a full kit inc water pump I found this that i thought was reasonable http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GATES-TIMING-COMPONENT-KIT-AND-WATER-PUMP-FOR-SUBARU-IMPREZA-GC-TCKHWPT277B-/281879841014?hash=item41a15908f6:g:OlUAAOSw8-tWZ7sC Then the racing (blue belt) without WP is $600+ aud
  9. Anyone able to help me choose a cambelt kit. Plenty of full kits on ebay/trademe but they all come with a aftermarket water pump. Is i alright to run a non OEM water pump?
  10. Thanks Rosssub. Any idea on the rings you used with the pistons you replaced? [quote name='ADIKT said: The oil pump I received with my brand new ej207 shortblock from subaru is: 15010AA300 Oil cooler compl: 21311AA051 Aw awesome. Was the only one partsouq have in stock
  11. So from the list above from les, partsouq only had the water pump and piston rings set in stock and after some googling i got the same parts but different numbers that apparently are compatible. is their any wiz here that can confirm it all the part numbers above will be fine? And this bearing kit will be sweet? Main and rod bearings http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/performance/core-engine/auction-1012037399.htm
  12. I remember this with my old BP Legacy. I done the oven trick and put it in oven to re melt the solder. Worked sweet for a couple of months then i done it again but left it in their to long and well it melted the board a bit. Their is a sweet spot in their somewhere haha
  13. That actually helps a lot. How have i never come across that link before. Cheers les
  14. Ive sourced a OEM gasket kit including rocker covers block and heads booked in for decking/resurfacing + "hot tanked" But i seem to struggle to find part numbers for JDM parts from google. Im after OEM piston rings 92mm part number OEM 10mm oil pump part number OEM thermostat part number ACL race bearings. I will grab a gates cambelt kit with OEM water pump Most things will come from partsouq
  15. Rosssub.. How come you never ended up putting in the V7 manifold?
  16. If you struggle with the ECU i have a A7 but wont be back in NZ to ship it until the 27th. Its from a Manual to BTW. I actually have a spare set of S/T headers from a V7 STi too but their pretty large to post. Welcome to the single turbo club. Im sure you have read over Rosssubs S/T thread for info. Im half way their http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread.php?44309-Simons-Gen-3-1999-B4-GERALDINE/page1
  17. Have a read over this thread made by Rosssub http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread.php?41993-Poor-Mans-TT-T-DP-Conversion-for-EWG&highlight=skill+blade And page 5 of my build thread http://clubsub.org.nz/forum/showthread.php?44309-Simons-Gen-3-1999-B4-GERALDINE/page5
  18. I thought A,B and C compression ratio was the same but rev D was the odd ball. Pretty sure you will need to go for a non STi ECU v5/6. A A7 or A8.
  19. Nah I have nothing. I might just sell the bare intake manifold and buy a complete V7 one with fuel rails and all. So if I do that then I won't need the map because they already have one on the TB?
  20. What oil pump does a stock V7 STi 207 use? 10,11 or 12mm? Same with the water pump?
  21. The dude i bought my V7 mani off completely stripped it down. Which f***ed me off cause i wasnt their when he dropped it off. So i was thinking of just chucking all the TT gear on the sti manifold while doing the split fuel rails and coil pack. So i would need the Link 2.5 map now ae?
  22. Actually dont worry a quick google gave me a good explanation for idiots http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/wideband-o2-sensor-idiots-22364.html
  23. Cheers Sly. I will be going be going with the plug in v5/6. If only they were a lot cheaper =) http://www.speedtechnz.com/shop/brands/link/G4+plug+in+Engine+Management/Subaru/WRX+Link+G4+-+Subaru+Impreza+V5+V6+WRX+STi.html will get map sensor so i can delete the MAF Will i need the intake air sensor? Can you please explain the wideband o2 sensor and what i will need it for?
  24. After some googling can I just use a V7 STi ECU and get that tuned?? I picked one up when i grabbed the long block from the same guy
