I would so be looking at the box
as excessive force in the box may have stretched the bolts which would of made them loose and then the nuts would then be loose
I know hella do a relay with an intergrated timer in it....may solve the scanning problem
I have a similiar issue as I want my beacons to operate when I arm/disarm or when it going off

I have made an offer on this(spare parts and also the highstop light version)
it does sound to me that u you have broken the anti vibration springs on the clutch plate or maybe one of the pressure plate fingers has come loose...
and I too am a mechanic,and this would be my diagnoisis going on what has been said
