  1. swaybar links are different between alloy arms and the shitty tin arms, tin arms have a bolt that goes through the link and arm, the alloy ones have a single mount point on the arm, need different links ie the standsard alloy arm links are solid anyway like this http://www.amsperformance.com/cart/images/T/klc139.jpg compared to the tin arm ones like http://cdn3.autopartsnetwork.com/images/catalog/brand/moog/640/K80693_ANG.jpg also you may need to get shims for the ball joints in the alloy arms, i found that trap when i did the conversion on my forester
  2. theres nothing that special i've done, and i had a thread but was lost in one of the site crashes years ago and there is a tonne of room in 17's to fit 4pots, check http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php/topic,29823.msg409797.html#msg409797 for pics of my current 4pots (294mm disc) in 17" rims, I'm going to brembos and they have a way bigger disc and they will still fit. as it's been said before, it's all about offset AND spoke design. only sure way to know if they're gonna fit is to try them. and as for rolling guards, i run 215's on single spoke rims, I've had the car so low i couldn't turn the steering wheel cause it rubbed on the inside of the wheel arch, never had an issue with the outer guard rubbing so don't think you'd need to roll guards, i think forester guards are quite big to accommodate for "offroading"
  3. my sidepanels just pull off, i've done the drivers one multiple times when the cars been on a trailer (i keep forgetting and the door catches on the mudguard) also i've heard of rally guys running 15's and clearing 4pots, it's all about offset and spoke design, twin spoke gtb wheels will clear, single spokes wont.
  4. don't need to do that to fit a k brace as far as i know, i did it all at once because i was trying to get my foz handling as good as possible. my foz hadles a lot better than my track car does.... but then i've had my foz for 5 years longer than the track car. sorry the bars are different i have the front most brace on the track car and a similar brace but only one bar connecting the arms together on the forester. alloy arms are worth more than the bars, if you don't have the alloy arms the bars arn't needed IMO
  5. i have 2 point brace on my foz, made a little difference with the adjusties, raised subframe and alloy lower arms. lower arm and k brace are same just k brace has more points? i have k brace on race car, cant say i noticed the difference...
  6. i have a sabelt and a jamex, for ease of use i'd pay the extra for the sabelt anyday! get one that the cam lock is on the crotch straps not the hip strap, thats the issue with the jamex one, the crotch straps keep disappearing through the seat, and the buckles are too big and make it hard to get the last one into the buckle.
  7. just for interests sake, my car, raping it at taupo on track 2, not many straights to cool the car, iat 26*c when moving, 50*c when sitting still. what temps are you getting?
  8. my v2 ra had one on the drivers pillar
  9. muh, mines done almost 190kms and never had an issue (yet, touch wood......) but then i have had mine since 110kms so i know it's been looked after for almost half its life, and i bought mine stock standy so no boyracer had owned it.... before me! all depends on how much they value the forester at, 210 is high k's so not worth much to anyone else, hence why i dont want to try sell my car
  10. motor is just wrx motor with a different tune afaik (looks to be same model as my foz) how has it been lowered? get some bigger ie forester size tyres for it and it'd be better same things break on foresters as wrx's. if it's on v7 struts check the rears for knocking
  11. mine is mounted in my tmic next to the throttle body, just had a thread welded onto the tmic and a hole drilled.
  12. 28 yo registered electrician and computer technician I own 2 subarus, my 3rd and 4th cars respectively. My old man was a diesel mechanic so I grew up helping him in his workshop and fixing our cars, I try to do most of the work I can on my cars and all my skills are From reading on here and talking to a friendly mechanic then giving it a crack. I'm by no means an expert and will generally only tell you what I've learnt through my own trials and mistakes.
  13. v7\8 fronts have the same top hat but camber won't line up, makes for a good castor mod. v1-6 will all bolt up fine
  14. Looking to get some fake headlights for the race car ie plastic\fiberglass pieces i can bolt into place so i can remove the headlight when at the track because A) the headlights on my car are glass so if hit will smash and be sharp and B) because they are glass they're kinda heavy I've seen plenty of headlight covers around but as i understand it i would still have to run the headlights to clip the covers to, which defeats the purpose. anyone know where to get these from?
  15. sounds like a dead spot on your starter motor windings. i'd get a 2nd hand starter motor and throw it on and see if it fixes it.
  16. Ive got one of those tools but its a pain to use (was very cheap) i use the screwdriver method more, works everytime!
  17. seems like a joke to me (aprils fools anyone???) I'm a member of Hamilton car club and the president wouldn't have a clue who i am so how could he say weather i could handle a car or not? only reason i joined them was to get a clubsport license and i've been to one clubnight but no events because their communication is so crap!
  18. Managed to fit both of them in the shed, first time a 6 months! Untill the next project then one will get kicked outside to sleep again :-\
  19. i used paint code cause my car has at least 2 different shades of red on the outside according to the guy who painted my boot and bonnet. the paint code is pretty close, especially as my painting was inside the car youd never notice the difference!
  20. Linkup paint supplies is who I used, $30 a can all you need is the paint code. Can is supposedly enought to paint a door, took 8 cans to paint my cage and interior
  21. Lol I have a wof and rego but still can't drive on the road.... Will be stoked when I can!
