  1. Hi, got a lowered 96 gf8 wrx sti wagon and need new shocks what do you guys recommend? Just looking at direct replacement not adjusties or anything that requires cert Are monroe Good as been given a good price for those
  2. well if it mangled jamming the flywheel it probably won't come out with a magnet wand since its stuck probably will have to drop gearbox to retreive it plus you will see if it has caused any damage. i'm wondering if you put a powerbar on crank and try and turn motor backwards you might free it so a magnet might work or some grabber tool, maybe get someone to watch through the hole to see if he can see the bolt as you turn motor backwards and maybe remove that inspection plate at bottom as soffa suggested as it might fall down when freed i'm not a mechanic so i don't know if turning motor backwards is bad for the engine
  3. would like to do this to my v2 gf8 wrx with v7 sti gold rims, have the v4 sti gc8 alloy arms with the links 1. is that all i need to do the conversion, would probably not do the free caster mod(2. whats the benefit of do this?) 3. does this mod need a cert? 4, whats the pros and cons of doing this mod? 5. is this mod harder to carry out than changing the backing plate on rear to accept 2pot brake calipers thanks for your help turbo
  4. ive seen guides on people putting bleach or drain unblock cemicals in heater core and leave it for awhile then block off the air compressor hose with a clamp and put an attachment on not your air gun but the bit before the air gun and put it in the hose to the outlit of the heater core and release the clamp so alot of air pressure gets released into heater core and pushes the crap out is this plauseable? or will it create a leak in the core so your cabin gets wet as ive got a partial block in my heater core and have tried back flushing just with the garden hose and have also added two brass t-joins to bypass core just incase havnt overheated yet been running car atleast two year like it is but i do get the odd cold air through the heater when cruising down the road.
  5. maybe get a professional opinion like smith and smith or someone that will know about those seals it might be a simple cheap fix now before it get worse or like you said causes rust

  8. heres another site with removal of hub to put backing plate from the 06 wrx on http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1567707&highlight=nissan+2+pot he's using nissan 2 pot calipers on his subaru and has the part no. for the backing plates
  9. i think you just need the hubs from the v7/v8 wrx non sti that comes with 4/2pot r160 and it will just bolt streight over, or i think you just need the backing plate which you will need to pull the hub off the knuckle to do it so would also be best to change the wheel bearings at same time since your at it. i'm attempting it as well and thats what i have figured. Heres the how to guide with just the backing plate :http://www.rs25.com/forums/f105/t158653-2-pot-upgrade-legit-way.html and heres the how to guide with the full hub change :http://www.rexnet.com.au/forum/index.php?/topic/138733-diy-1-pot-2-pot-upgrade-with-hub-change/

  13. Hi, recieved 2pot rear hubs that came with abs sensors will i have a wof issue using them on my car which doesn't have abs will of cause remove the sensors from the hubs but will obvously leave a gap where the sensors once was?
  14. could be heater core also as my temp gauge was reading normal but i could hear boiling water and my top hose was hot but buttom was cold and it turned out my heater core was partially blocked
  15. i think i used the air comp and used some thing to stop the pistons from completely coming out so you get atleast two of the pistons almost out then i used pliers to wiggle them the rest of way using the groove that the boot goes into. i think you can only get one side out the other has to be completely wiggled out, take your time and carefulness you shouldnt damage them. i think i used pliers otherwise i used a flathead screw driver in that groove carefully working all sides so it comes out evenly without too much force. but i suppose when the two pistons pops out using the compresser and you find a way to block those holes so that you can put enough pressure to pop the otherside out then that would be easier, i suppose somebody will know the proper way or easier way of doing it i did it on the 4pot subaru calipers. do it over a nice soft old cuishon to catch the piston if you accidently drop one the cuishon will hopefully catch it and protect. crap old thread you probably have sorted it now.
  16. Need to make insurance compulsory with registration as after the law change there will be heaps of uninsured drivers crashing. and maybe impound cars found driving with no rego because of no insurance. get alot of drivers off the road that shouldnt be driving.
  17. the blower fan ussually behind the glovebox could be the fan dead or maybe the wire that feed it power is damaged as was the case with mine
  18. could just jack up on the tow hooks at front i find that i can use my dads car ramps with my lowerd impressa, but i do have a low profile 3ton car jack which does go under the front lip but becomes annoying to jack car up at the subframe, ie not much travel for the bar that pumps the jack up. the best way as mentioned above would be to use the blocks of wood
  19. i thank it cost be $20 a tyre for fitting and balancing but they did me a deal might be more like $30 a tyre now
