  1. mmm however it does do it ocasionally at first start of the car before it is moved... but sometimes it won't. definitely not coming from engine though. sounds more like underneath me where gearbox is. One thing though with my new exhaust one of the silencers is pushed up against the bracket where the rear driveshaft passes through, whether its just getting a noise from this when taking off sometimes or not... bit strange how it does it sometimes and not others.
  2. I'm getting the same kind of sound, however not the whining. Just the knocking noise, happens over bumps, and accelerating slowly from standstill, not all the time though. Gearbox feels fine and haven't noticed any change. Only started doing it since I changed my exhaust last week? Have double checked all bolts etc, whether it's just my exhaust knocking on something but can't find any loss bits at all so a bit stumped. Hoping it's not gearbox... I got a 1997 STi v3 wagon.
  3. yea I'll probably just go to repco tomorrow get a cheap one, just wanted a price for it to see how much it was.
  4. just went to Sublab, 40 bux for the cap so not too bad, 0.9 bar.
  5. yea ill try source sumthing out tomorrow.
  6. pretty much whats happening to mine, plus the rubber is wearing off it I'll probably just get a new one, worth going to Subaru for it or just get a repco one?
  7. I had 44, ended up being the solenoid had sent some spike back to the cpu and stuffed the part where it reads code 44. had to replace ecu but wasn't too much of a hassle. Also replaced that solenoid.
  8. Hey all the rubber on the standard radiator cap has turned to sh*t, just wondering if those 1.3bar caps are any good or if I should just go get a standard one? Am not too sure what the standard ones pressure are rated at anyway. v3 1997 sti.

    o2 sensor

just put in new o2 sensor, old one looked f***ed. went for a spin and seems alot better in regards to surging. I'll know in the morning from cold start but think its solved most of my issues! thanks.

    o2 sensor

Cheers, so any old Bosch o2 sensor thats 3 wire will do the trick? Never had to buy one before. And just from the usual stores??

    o2 sensor

I know there is a lot about these on the forum have read a couple. A lot of people seem to also point there problem to another factor but im just checking if this could be it... From cold start up it will sometimes idle high (1,500 as it should while warming) but then fall down to normal idle speed (800) which i can tell is not right because it hasn't fully warmed up yet and needs it higher revs to warm correctly before idling at that speed. Once it is getting warmed up then it is sweet as. no flucturations once warm. Also surges when you are light on the throttle but when you give it some boost it is perfectly smooth. Haven't tested for voltage on the o2 sensor as of yet. Car is v3 1997 sti, rebuild engine, cleaned IACV, changed AFM, surging was happening before the rebuild so it is nothing to do with that. Only thing that hasn't been changed that could do the surging is my o2 sensor and i havent changed coil leads or the coil pack but that itself looks fine. Guessing its o2 but anyone got other suggestions?
  18. ah sweet as, obviously didn't search hard enough lol.
  19. Stumbled upon this while looking for diagrams, don't know if it has been posted before or if anyone has seen it but might have some diagrams useful to people. Not to sure as some may be different as this refers to some of the US model subarus... Includes ECU pinouts, wiring diagrams etc for most models. http://www.northursalia.com/modifications/misc/wiring/wiring.html
  20. yea it does have its own. I have just pluged the original back in and moved its location. No worries now. Cheers.
  21. yea I had it unplugged, came up with engine light, plugged it back in and still has engine light so im guessing its just an old code from the ecu? Going to reset ecu over night so hopefully should clear it tomorrow.
  22. Just put in a Gizzmo EBC in my v3 Sti Replaced the factory wastegate solenoid with the electronic solenoid. all setup working fine. But i do get my check engine light on? Im guessing its because the old plug that plugs into the wastegate solenoid is no longer reading anything as I have hooked the new solenoid up to new wires. Any way to bridge those connections from the old solenoid plug to fool the ecu into thinking it there? Or have I done something completely wrong lol. Cheers.
  23. yea im in the process of throwing it all back together probably won't grab it at this stage. thanks anyway! feel free gc8e2dd.
  24. or in this case since there is no extra hose running off the solenoid then i just block the pipe coming off the air intake so it doesn't escape
