  1. Thanks guys, I'll ask my subi mech about them, I think he did say once to have a look at the STi ones, my only concern was that they were better suited to the turbo models and no the N/A H6... But even tips as the first poster said may be good? I did that to my 99 B4 and it sounded way nicer, still quiet but had a nice rumble.
  2. Hi guys, Haven't posted in ages, but i've sold my Outback and brought a 2008 Legacy B Spec 3.0.... and it's pretty quick but dead quiet! I don't really like overly loud exhaust systems but can anyone recommend me a good / affordable mod / setup for this car that gives it that H6 porsche growl it has deep inside? My Outback had the H6 too but i didn't bother with the exhaust.
  3. Cool thanks, i'll have a look. I remember going to the Jazz Fest there for school.
  4. Hey... anyone know any good places I can take my Outback camping around AKL region? Want to do some soft-roading then put up camp then come back morning after? Thanks.
  5. Hi there, Got my new Lancaster 6 today and found out the black-meter clusters rings are out on the temp gauge and partially on the speedo! Picture attached, please let me know if possible and maybe what part or bulb I need. Thanks
  6. Yea mine does this on start & cold. Sometimes randomly too. The mechanic I used said it's common with older engines. Mines done >100,000kms and it does it every so often. Just take it easy till she's warm!
  7. I am considering the upgrade to a H6 3.0L Lancaster but it's a pre-facelift 01 with 107000km on it. So what i'm asking is what are the differences between this and the facelifted one? Bar the new look? Has anything changed in the: -chassis -suspension -engine (EZ30) -trans & AWD...?? I am getting an outback for more all terrain support as I quite often do light off road and my B4 is a bit low! Also does anyone know: -Does the outback have built in cross bars or do I need to buy em?? -Can I disable the VDC with a fuse inside the cars fuse box or engine fuse box?? (Seeing pre-facelift had no off switch , ARGGH) -Is the fuel consumption alright?
  8. Hey, my mate has a new '01 B4, non-turbo with the Macintosh audio system. But for some reason when we put the new harness into the head deck it makes a buzzing sound through the speakers. We have all the harness converter cables in properly but it still buzzes like crazy, we can hear sound though when we used a CD. Also, the radio plug is not yet in, we need a bigger size for it. Any ideas? Maybe we missed something? Thanks.
  9. Hey, yea but then again you've still got some weight resting on the jack rather than the suspension? Is that right?
  10. Ahhh god damnit! Beautiful 250t gets stolen, poor owner. Maybe he'll / she'll invest in a Mongoose. Stopped the guys from jacking my subi last year. They broke my window though. Fucking assholes.
  11. Yes another question! I was dropping my mate off today and I turned round on a bank which went into a small ditch. Got 2 wheels floating (FL - BR) and was sort of sitting their until I drove off (took a few extra seconds with the open diffs haha). But my question is, is this overloading the suspension badly with 2 wheels floating? I'd think it would be but i'm not sure. It seems to handle and you'd think Subaru would ensure it can cope with it a bit.
  12. He'd rather shotgun with Pippa in the Mini... Shows you what sort of person he is haha. And it was the beatiful new Black STi Sedan! "That Subaru is a boy racer car" - Host (Not paul henry, some other guy)
  13. I got a guy at my local subi shop (PS Automotive) to change the park light the other day, took him a minute. All he did was take the wheel well plastic back and put his hand up through the base and reached up to the light.
  14. I've had a few say 'Ohh Subaru's are so unreliable...' and 'They blow up all the time'. I tell them they don't know shit obviously and have never owned one because from our past 2 subies it's been a blast. No big problems, and I can give my Subi a run for it's money sometimes. My friend said (who owns a old camry) kept telling me how crappy the subarus are then I see him on the roadside with a fuel injector problem one day.
  15. My steering rack got water in it last year (Argh) and it cost me about $1200 to fix, ever since my whines and does it mainly when the cars barely moving or turning tight (sometimes a strange quick squeaky sound!). Maybe some air got into your system aerating the fluid slightly? My suspension can be quite loud to, like a dry springy noise. I think it is generally the bushings getting old (the rubber between the joints to actually combat vibration/noise). But I don't think it's a big issue unless it's loud as
  16. I suppose you could say it is, it was supposed to be something like under $20,000US and their Legacy's start at $20k so it must be the cheap sporty alternative.
  17. What do you mean, 'raison d'être' is that french? I had a look on several articles and they said it'd be RWD with toyota using their new boxer engine so I did my homework.... Yea the new coupe; it's simple and lightweight without the extra awd components but could you call it a subaru without awd?? I think it sort of spoils the brand, why not just release the Toyota version and subaru can have a stake in that. But i suppose it'll help subaru sell more cars. Lots of people do care about the brand still, you may not but when you look around a s***load still do.
  18. Been reading up on the new Subaru RWD Coupe that Toyota is helping make (releasing it's own variant in the Japan market). Now I know it may sound silly but I really think it is shit that Subaru is likely to leave out an AWD version. For a start I always (and I lot of people I know) associate the brand with AWD, and I'd as a great fan would hate to see a RWD car be released by Subaru. Even though Subaru may satisfy a wider audience with a light RWD coupe, I think it sort of spoils the unique brand Subaru has as the #1 AWD car brand. And making it worse I read that maybe Subaru's new 3rd gen boxer will be incorporated into the Toyota's variant therefore positioning the Boxer into a Toyota. Yuck! I'd prefer it if Subaru stuck to there unique AWD system and not share their engines with the Toyota. But, this may be just speculation, it may not even end up in the Toyota but several articles stated it would. What do you think?
  19. Looks quite nice, bit smaller & refined. Hope it still makes & performs like the current EJ blocks
  20. Umm just mainly run around (main vehicle) and farm vehicle (semi-off roading quite often). I have a B4 but want the extra clearance.
